I didn't really understand what was going on with the poisoned wine. He was trying to poison her, right? Why exactly did it go so wrong?

They changed this up from the book (he spikes the wine, offers it to her first, she drinks, then he drinks), but it seemed like in this scene he's going for a murder-suicide thing (maybe killing someone is dishonor enough to make him unfit to be a maester).

ha in the book he offers it to her but she knows he's trying to poison her so she says she'll drink but he'll have to drink with her too. she gives him the glass and kinda smiles at him knowing that he's gonna die.
that whole scene is quite entertaining. i also like how we glimpsed the table thats actually a map of westeros though they could have let us have a better look at it.

I had no idea how far east Vaes Dothrak was until I saw the HBO map.

westeros table is rad, as was the octopus fireplace, feel like theyve stepped up the set design this season from what was already v awesome

POWER is power scene was A+

On the real, I haven't read the books but as soon as Cersei called the guards on Littlefinger I turned to my BF and said "she is gonna be all like "POWER is power, bitch"."

This is not a testament to my predictive talents so much as that writing dialogue for slightly cheesy machinistic modern soapies is basically my number one fantasy job.

I wasn't complaining! It was an intuitively necessary statement. Sometimes a show having predictable dialogue is actually a good thing, it's like a sports player seeing an opening and taking it and scoring.

but if they were already turned around, why did their eyes need to be closed? shouldn't she have said "cover your ears"?

the "sexposition" is getting kinda ridic at this point. also some interesting changes/embellishments to the story. it's kinda exciting to see what they change and what they don't!

They must have some plans for Ros, cos for a character that doesn't appear in the books she sure gets a lot of screen time.

I think she's there mostly for the non-pov characters to have someone to talk to

btw the tumblrs are whining about the show departing from the books, those big babbies should be careful Craster doesn't leave them out in the wilderness.

I haven't read the books, but I hope they do depart from them because goodness gracious this is too sprawling at the moment. I know it probably has to be that way for a bit, but I'm hoping it coalesces at some point and we have a coming together.

Still glad that they keep moments like Robert's bastard's "I sold armour" line.

I don't think Stannis and Melisandre were sleeping together in the books. In fact Stannis comes across as very non-sexual, he's married and has a daughter so he's obviously had sex with his wife at least once but probably only out of duty. It seemed out of character for him.

Nah, it is kind of implied that they're doing it, just very obliquely. Much like Renly and Loras.

Yes, but it is somewhat alluded to in the books. I forget who, but they commented on Stannis's disinterest in/impatience with his wife, and all the time he has for the younger, more beautiful Melisandre.

But then again he doesn't have a wife or family in this does he?

Melisandre mentioned his wife being locked up in her tower
