Ph is visiting his family in Shreveport for his grandfather's 90th birthday and apparently his so-called xtian sisters are taking the occasion to tell him his "lifestyle" is "wrong." Fucking fuck fuck.

I have been missing

People aren't for comparing, they are for loving. (Je55e), Saturday, 7 April 2012 04:32 (fourteen years ago)

Damn flailing pinky!!!

I've been missing the South a bit recently, so reminder of crazy Pentacostals and other religiosos is a good reality check (not that homophobia or Bible thumpers is only a Southern thing).

I miss summer nights in the south, not much else.

tanuki, Saturday, 7 April 2012 04:44 (fourteen years ago)

When I saw The Hunger Games I really missed the NC mountains. So many stunning views and SO many waterfalls! Plus some really special culture. And gorgeous coastal towns and beaches a few hours away. But I definitely wouldn't want to live there.

I've been missing NOLA like crazy (missed what had become a late winter traditional visit) and I feel drawn to live there (again-ish).

The Reverend, Sunday, 8 April 2012 07:47 (fourteen years ago)

tanuki, Sunday, 8 April 2012 08:02 (fourteen years ago)

so my bf and i are seeing a couple's counselor. don't worry; no crisis. we're coming up on 5 years together and this is kind of just a kick-the-tires, check-the-oil sort of tune-up.

anyway, our therapist is a v v dapper older man, probably gay, and funny as hell. it's actually pretty great! AND mostly covered by my boyfriend's health plan.

i'm feeling like a lucky man.

i'm in nyc and telling everyone about my bf and showing them pictures of him and i'm starting to feel like a proud mom a little bit

y'tulip, y'pea-brained earwig (donna rouge), Tuesday, 10 April 2012 20:15 (fourteen years ago)

coincidentally nyc gays should report to lorimer and calyer at 8pm if you wanna get drinks with meeee

y'tulip, y'pea-brained earwig (donna rouge), Tuesday, 10 April 2012 20:15 (fourteen years ago)

woof

i think this is serious (elmo argonaut), Tuesday, 10 April 2012 20:30 (fourteen years ago)

I've always wondered why Judy was a gay icon and that story sort of answered that question (I previously thought that it was just the pills and booze) and I sort of get it, but the her music says nothing to me about my life, I guess. Or actually IDK if it does b/c like Brodie, I only really know Somewhere Over the Rainbow and "that song about the train."

LAST Saturday I invited my friend Brodie, a 30ish gay man like myself, to a preview performance of “End of the Rainbow”

lol '30ish'

i think this is serious (elmo argonaut), Tuesday, 10 April 2012 20:37 (fourteen years ago)

i read the article this morning and for a sec i thought you were talking 'brodie' who used to post here

y'tulip, y'pea-brained earwig (donna rouge), Tuesday, 10 April 2012 20:37 (fourteen years ago)

that means '40', right?

i think this is serious (elmo argonaut), Tuesday, 10 April 2012 20:38 (fourteen years ago)

xp

i think this is serious (elmo argonaut), Tuesday, 10 April 2012 20:38 (fourteen years ago)

I bleeve the Judy trolley has come and gone

however, p sure I've never heard Adele

World Congress of Itch (Dr Morbius), Tuesday, 10 April 2012 20:38 (fourteen years ago)

i've liked her in the things i've seen her (i adore 'meet me in st. louis' in general) in but i haven't dug deep enough for her to have any particular resonance with me

y'tulip, y'pea-brained earwig (donna rouge), Tuesday, 10 April 2012 20:38 (fourteen years ago)

hmmm some joke here about Adele and Judy both rolling in the deep.... xp

People aren't for comparing, they are for loving. (Je55e), Tuesday, 10 April 2012 20:39 (fourteen years ago)

clearly I can only go to this Dying Judy musical w/ underrated aerosmith

World Congress of Itch (Dr Morbius), Tuesday, 10 April 2012 20:42 (fourteen years ago)

I like her fine as an actress and "personality" but dunno why gays love her. Well, I do.

Exile in lolville (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Tuesday, 10 April 2012 20:43 (fourteen years ago)

Not that I’m Judyism’s last adherent by a long shot. I remind Brodie of this and ask whether he even believes it’s important to preserve our cultural traditions.

gtfo of here with this, ugh

i think this is serious (elmo argonaut), Tuesday, 10 April 2012 20:45 (fourteen years ago)

i lost count of how many times he compares gays to jews in that article

i think this is serious (elmo argonaut), Tuesday, 10 April 2012 20:47 (fourteen years ago)

it's a LOT though

i think this is serious (elmo argonaut), Tuesday, 10 April 2012 20:47 (fourteen years ago)

yeah "judyism" is...if people actually say that that's weird

y'tulip, y'pea-brained earwig (donna rouge), Tuesday, 10 April 2012 20:48 (fourteen years ago)

I weep for my people.

I’m only half-kidding. I have this theory that because of the holocaust that was the AIDS epidemic and its annihilation of the previous generation of gay men, the faith of our fathers risks extinction. Today, Judyism, like Yiddish, is little more than a vague cultural memory.

i think this is serious (elmo argonaut), Tuesday, 10 April 2012 20:50 (fourteen years ago)

like, wtf?

i think this is serious (elmo argonaut), Tuesday, 10 April 2012 20:52 (fourteen years ago)

how many times he compares gays to jews in that article

well, aside from tourists they're the only ppl who go to Broadway musicals.

World Congress of Itch (Dr Morbius), Tuesday, 10 April 2012 20:56 (fourteen years ago)

seriously, the last 6 months of Garland's life w/ her puking mid-song? I'd rather wait for The Nutty Professor musical.

World Congress of Itch (Dr Morbius), Tuesday, 10 April 2012 20:57 (fourteen years ago)

p.s. i love joni mitchell more than anything else but lmao if you think she sings about 'real life'

i think this is serious (elmo argonaut), Tuesday, 10 April 2012 21:03 (fourteen years ago)

or maybe idk what 'real life' is supposed to mean in this context

i think this is serious (elmo argonaut), Tuesday, 10 April 2012 21:03 (fourteen years ago)

think she sings a lot about "invented life" yeah

y'tulip, y'pea-brained earwig (donna rouge), Tuesday, 10 April 2012 21:04 (fourteen years ago)

i'm guessing the context he means is "acoustic guitars"

y'tulip, y'pea-brained earwig (donna rouge), Tuesday, 10 April 2012 21:04 (fourteen years ago)

but I've seen them pave paradise.

World Congress of Itch (Dr Morbius), Tuesday, 10 April 2012 21:06 (fourteen years ago)

World Congress of Itch (Dr Morbius), Tuesday, 10 April 2012 21:13 (fourteen years ago)

can't believe people lived through the eigties and nineties still thinking guitars signify realness

Exile in lolville (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Tuesday, 10 April 2012 21:14 (fourteen years ago)

I did. Now I realize music doesn't particularly signify realness.
