also ws carrie brownstein :D

Peppermint Patty Hearst (VegemiteGrrl), Monday, 2 April 2012 19:00 (fourteen years ago)

I'm not crass, but yes.

Johnny Fever, Monday, 2 April 2012 19:04 (fourteen years ago)

She does the rock guitar player high kick better than just about anyone.

Johnny Fever, Monday, 2 April 2012 19:05 (fourteen years ago)

I always feel bad for Marc when he starts talking about music with a musician (Carrie Brownstein, in this case). His references are so superficial and limited, but he at least seems to know a thing or two about guitars.

OTM.

Dancing with Mr. T (Tarfumes The Escape Goat), Monday, 2 April 2012 19:08 (fourteen years ago)

I loved the episode with Brendon Smalls of Metalocalypse, where they played together and he told that great story about playing on stage for the first time. But yeah when he tries to talk general music, he's a bit too eager, along with the limited references.

Peppermint Patty Hearst (VegemiteGrrl), Monday, 2 April 2012 19:12 (fourteen years ago)

<3 Carrie 4life

Maron was a bit of his depth about her career but he is like that for half the guests. The stuff about post-SK was really interesting.

Thoughts? You must have loads. (a hoy hoy), Monday, 2 April 2012 22:40 (fourteen years ago)

What I found more crazy-making than the music stuff was Maron talking about Portland and SF like they were these weird puzzle palaces he needed to find the secret keys to. Does he walk around Whole Foods shouting "What are you people all about? What is the organizing principle of this place? Why are you shopping at me like that?"

President Keyes, Tuesday, 3 April 2012 13:17 (fourteen years ago)

funny that he mostly wanted to nerd out about guitar gear and had no interest in any history she might have had with comedy

40oz of tears (Jordan), Tuesday, 3 April 2012 14:11 (fourteen years ago)

Ha, he's chatted with my brother over email about guitar shit

Spleen of Hearts (kingfish), Tuesday, 3 April 2012 19:35 (fourteen years ago)

Ugh, Cross.

the hairy office thing (Eazy), Saturday, 14 April 2012 00:47 (fourteen years ago)

Cross is Cross. So, exactly what I expected.

Chris Elliott was more interesting than anticipated, though.

Johnny Fever, Saturday, 14 April 2012 00:52 (fourteen years ago)

I was really glad Maron and Elliott talked about Bob so much. It was nice to hear "I grew up playing with the sound-effects machine in my radio-pioneer dad's studio!" instead of the usual "I grew up watching Carson!"

Dancing with Mr. T (Tarfumes The Escape Goat), Saturday, 14 April 2012 12:22 (fourteen years ago)

week-late laugh at "why are you shopping at me like that?" from P. Keyes

She Got the Shakes, Saturday, 14 April 2012 20:29 (fourteen years ago)

Just catching up with some of these since I've been sick. I really liked the Jeffrey Tambor episode. And Chris Elliott, but it was quite odd to hear him out of his usual "Chris Elliott" character.

nobody gives a shit about the githzerai (GOTT PUNCH II HAWKWINDZ), Monday, 16 April 2012 03:38 (fourteen years ago)

during the "Set List" show at the last night of Bridgetown Comedy Fest tonight, James Adomian dressed and performed as Maron and fuckin' killed. the game was to improvise a routine based on a random set-up, so he improvised in character.

Choad of Choad Hall (kingfish), Monday, 16 April 2012 08:49 (fourteen years ago)

^ oh man

┗|∵|┓ (sic), Monday, 16 April 2012 13:28 (fourteen years ago)

i'm a relative newcomer to this podacast but the Tambor is my fave so far (even though I was never that big of a fan of the guy)

licorice oratorio (baaderonixx), Monday, 16 April 2012 14:44 (fourteen years ago)

The David Cross episode was a good one. Pity he never got to finish his anecdote about Channel 4 controller Jane Hunt, due to Marc not being interested in/is weird about Britishers.

GODDAMN. I hope someone youtubes this.

nobody gives a shit about the githzerai (GOTT PUNCH II HAWKWINDZ), Tuesday, 17 April 2012 05:25 (fourteen years ago)

@marcmaron: I had a dream that I performed in Portland last night.

@JAdomian: The second set was better than the first but you killed both shows. Tanker wants to book you for a full weekend.

┗|∵|┓ (sic), Tuesday, 17 April 2012 05:57 (fourteen years ago)

I thought Tanker was only doing open mics for the weekend, but I guess they had a bunch of shows not on the official sched.

Choad of Choad Hall (kingfish), Tuesday, 17 April 2012 07:00 (fourteen years ago)

A pic I shot:

He would contort himself on that stool so much he almost ate it right off the stage a few times.

James Adomian is a funny motherfucker

I cannot host as my wife hates Walker (latebloomer), Tuesday, 17 April 2012 07:57 (fourteen years ago)

Wow. Even without hearing him speak, I can hear him anyway. He's got the body posture down perfect!

Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 17 April 2012 14:12 (fourteen years ago)

i loved the jeffrey tambor interview

Mordy, Tuesday, 17 April 2012 14:24 (fourteen years ago)

You can hear some of Adomian's Maron impression here (begins at around 2:00):

Wonderful episode with Kevin Burke - seems like a great guy.

sean gramophone, Sunday, 22 April 2012 16:35 (fourteen years ago)

Kevin Hart is such a likable guy. I'm glad he was on WTF, it reminded me to go check out I'ma Grown Little Man which is ALL on youtube actually:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cw3uDAtOrkk&feature=related

and is hilarious, especially the closer about his older road manager.

I wish there wasn't some of the homophobic stuff but it's really slight and the rest of it is good.

I'll be really bummed if he does what I think he will and cuts out stand-up for a while to focus on movies and TV shows.

filthy dylan, Sunday, 22 April 2012 16:52 (fourteen years ago)

(whoops, the closer I was referring to is at the end of Seriously Funny actually)

Wonderful episode with Kevin Burke - seems like a great guy.

Kevin Burke the Irish fiddler?

President Keyes, Sunday, 22 April 2012 17:50 (fourteen years ago)

just listened to the Matt Graham episode yesterday. Such an experience... then made really weird and awkward by him trying to sell a board game to him.

hart intvw was great but maron talking to nonwhite comics always makes me nervous

max, Monday, 23 April 2012 13:36 (fourteen years ago)

he did well with hart because he remembered working the same clubs with him. otherwise we'd have had 30 more minutes of "black comedy and white comedy are two different worlds."

President Keyes, Monday, 23 April 2012 13:38 (fourteen years ago)

this show fuckin sucks but holy shit @ today's

I wasn't familiar with Chelsea Handler before this interview, and can't say I am now. She's like the female Adam Corolla or something?

President Keyes, Monday, 30 April 2012 10:44 (fourteen years ago)

That's a reasonably accurate comparison.

He must be 'running out'* of American comics though...

*I mean i'm sure there is a list of a 1000 other names to do but when its comes to both ones he can actually get hold of, ones who actually want to do it and ones he finds interesting enough for an interview.
