was cerie's band a lana del rey joke?

Don't think so. Unless LDR is into strobe-lit headbanging these days. I laffed b/c it was like all of the anonymous mall-rock bands that get booked on Leno/Letterman b/c they are shiny and attractive.

Cuba Pudding, Jr. (jaymc), Monday, 2 April 2012 17:38 (fourteen years ago)

watching season 1 of this for the first time ever. it really is an incredibly funny, likable show.

(The Other) J.D. (J.D.), Tuesday, 3 April 2012 01:48 (fourteen years ago)

I actually saw the s1 episode where Liz goes to the Source awards with Wayne Brady, and it was very striking how much more sophisticated the humor became as the show developed. Just the whole way the race/ gangsta rap culture issue was handled seemed very off, like 30 rock would have taken some flack for it if they had written it today. I guess the characters were more realistic and less zany, but I would still take s6 crazy over s1 clumsy.

scarfs, Tuesday, 3 April 2012 01:54 (fourteen years ago)

STACY KEACH!

Raymond Dubious Davies (C. Grisso/McCain), Friday, 20 April 2012 00:33 (fourteen years ago)

Tina Fey is the funniest person in America right now

(this is not tied directly to the episode, but to the promo for the live show, specifically the word "coolsaster")

I need new, hip khakis (DJP), Friday, 20 April 2012 01:00 (fourteen years ago)

This was pretty good from a story level, I thought.

Also lol at Bazooka Joe

horseshoe, Friday, 20 April 2012 01:08 (fourteen years ago)

baldwin's delivery on the "baked those rocks and sold them...as gum" was perfect

horseshoe, Friday, 20 April 2012 01:09 (fourteen years ago)

did tracy call jenna "jane" in the hospital scene and they just left it in the episode? i don't think i imagined that.

circles, Friday, 20 April 2012 01:09 (fourteen years ago)

he did call her "jane." i assumed he was delivering the line as written.

horseshoe, Friday, 20 April 2012 01:10 (fourteen years ago)

i have been mad at stacy keach for years for being terrible in a production of king lear i saw, but he is forgiven.

horseshoe, Friday, 20 April 2012 01:14 (fourteen years ago)

he did call her "jane." i assumed he was delivering the line as written.

I thought it was a gag on the fact that he'd just claimed to never have made a mistake before.

franny glass, Friday, 20 April 2012 02:01 (fourteen years ago)

yup

Nhex, Friday, 20 April 2012 02:37 (fourteen years ago)

great ep and once again so glad that they skipped having the new boyfriend plotline for the fourth or fifth time with Chris.

Ongoing saga of Jenna's sordid history with Mickey Rourke still feels a little forced, but on the other hand, spiders.
