the pinefox, Sunday, 1 April 2012 17:55 (fourteen years ago)

I mean I can see KD going but not RB coming back.

the pinefox, Sunday, 1 April 2012 17:56 (fourteen years ago)

rewatched qpr last night and our defensive strategy is all over the place. some players pressing, others not, leaving gaps, downing at centreforward for restarts, in a 442 shape sometimes, 451 at others. no-one seems to have a clue what they're supposed to be doing, and it makes you wonder what the hell they're doing on the training pitch. same today, spearing presses, leaves a huge gap behind him - basic stuff. i posted a video recently of rafa's lfc pressing against villa in 08/09, and it was fucking beautiful. not saying we should be at that level already at this stage of kenny's project, but ffs it's march, and we don't seem to have any idea whatsoever of what *the plan* is. are we analysing games? figuring out what's going wrong? even attempting to put things right? because it's been the same problems all season. and yet every now and again we do look very good. first 20mins today, excellent, thought we were on to something, moving it from back to front with confidence. but when we keep falling apart like this, i dunno, is kenny just leaving it all to the players to figure out for themselves?

he'll still be here next season mind. and no way is rafa coming back, however much i want him to.

Chris, Sunday, 1 April 2012 17:59 (fourteen years ago)

however much i want him to.

(in 10 years time when kenny's won us a few league titles and a couple of european cups obv.)

Chris, Sunday, 1 April 2012 18:04 (fourteen years ago)

which spurs player was it that accidentally kicked a swansea player when he was supposed to kick the ground in frustration? that was funny.

Chris, Sunday, 1 April 2012 20:11 (fourteen years ago)

walker

mizzell, Sunday, 1 April 2012 20:12 (fourteen years ago)

Pardew attributed Cissé's excellent performance to diet. The striker's two goals here took his Premier League total to seven since his debut in February – two more than Carroll has managed in the league in 14 months at Liverpool. "We had Africa day at the training ground on Friday," Pardew said. "We made him feel at home by having curried goat for lunch. It was lovely."

Lawro is like D-Mac in thinking Spurs 3rd

I liked the casual authority with which he said it

the pinefox, Monday, 2 April 2012 07:49 (fourteen years ago)

Lawro is now much better pundit than Hansen / Shearer unless it is just the magic MotD2 influence.

the pinefox, Monday, 2 April 2012 07:49 (fourteen years ago)

re casual authority- mine or lawro's?

less of the same (darraghmac), Monday, 2 April 2012 07:54 (fourteen years ago)

Lawro's in this instance

the pinefox, Monday, 2 April 2012 08:00 (fourteen years ago)

i am at least as confident and have a better prediction rate.

less of the same (darraghmac), Monday, 2 April 2012 09:51 (fourteen years ago)

really love that moment - not because I dislike Dalglish but actually because I like Stevie G and his assumption of a Captain's authority.

the pinefox, Monday, 2 April 2012 13:56 (fourteen years ago)

will Kenny get charged for that?

Number None, Monday, 2 April 2012 13:58 (fourteen years ago)

Ouch, that could be an era-defining image depending how things pan out from here.

Ismael Klata, Monday, 2 April 2012 14:17 (fourteen years ago)

liked this better than john terry's touchline thing

Rosie 47 (ken c), Monday, 2 April 2012 14:21 (fourteen years ago)

Lots of talk lately linking Brendan Rogers to a move to a big club, but I dunno. I really like what he's done at Swansea but he could find himself a kind of latterday Wenger figure - from what I've seen of Swansea they don't seem to have much of a plan B and while it's worked exceptionally well for them they were really naive to continue allowing Gareth Bale so much space yesterday.

Homosexual Satan Wasp (Matt DC), Monday, 2 April 2012 14:23 (fourteen years ago)

they could do with a plan b going into next season, but it is incredible how he's got them to stick to that style of play and how they haven't panicked at all. i'd imagine that must involve some seriously impressive coaching/psychology/man management in order to establish that level of trust and confidence amongst the players.

Chris, Monday, 2 April 2012 14:36 (fourteen years ago)

plan b's often involved large squads which swansea lack.

Thoughts? You must have loads. (a hoy hoy), Monday, 2 April 2012 15:06 (fourteen years ago)

universal plan B = get it in the fackin mixer

Ismael Klata, Monday, 2 April 2012 15:37 (fourteen years ago)

Quite right. If Robert Huth playing CF for Chelsea was good enough for Mourinho who is Brendan Rogers to think it's beneath him?

pandemic, Monday, 2 April 2012 15:45 (fourteen years ago)

It's more "change things to ensure you're pressing for an equaliser more securely and not being hammered on the break" than "get in the fucking mixer". I'm not suggesting that turning into Stoke is the way forward for them.

Homosexual Satan Wasp (Matt DC), Monday, 2 April 2012 15:49 (fourteen years ago)

Stoke's plan B is one-touch-instacontrol and unstoppable howitzers

Ismael Klata, Monday, 2 April 2012 15:52 (fourteen years ago)

universal plan B = get it in the fackin mixer

― Ismael Klata, Monday, April 2, 2012 4:37 PM (1 hour ago)

this is why the phrase is so dispiriting, it's like barcelona DO have the capacity to vary their game but yes sadly none of those involve buying robert huth

english football's perpetual plan B was discovered circa 1370 when some enterprising proto-allardyce found a putrid plagueridden horse and decided to try catapulting it over the walls

i guess none of us are watching this and are just assuming it will eventually be a utd 3-0 win?

Thoughts? You must have loads. (a hoy hoy), Monday, 2 April 2012 19:29 (fourteen years ago)

Repeat until May, basically

Ismael Klata, Monday, 2 April 2012 19:30 (fourteen years ago)

I'm watching it

Let's Talk About Socks (Nasty, Brutish & Short), Monday, 2 April 2012 19:35 (fourteen years ago)

0-0 at half-time, United with lots of possession in the final third but few shots. De Gea had to make a flurry of important saves at the end.

Let's Talk About Socks (Nasty, Brutish & Short), Monday, 2 April 2012 19:50 (fourteen years ago)

I'm watching too, naturally

Number None, Monday, 2 April 2012 19:51 (fourteen years ago)

bit too dependent on Valencia at the moment. Formation is oddly lopsided

Number None, Monday, 2 April 2012 19:51 (fourteen years ago)

Jones looking a bit poor

Let's Talk About Socks (Nasty, Brutish & Short), Monday, 2 April 2012 19:54 (fourteen years ago)

I'd take Jones off for Young and tell Rooney to stop faffing about in midfield

Number None, Monday, 2 April 2012 19:55 (fourteen years ago)

Is de Gea the non-Newcastle signing of the season? You owe that guy a lot.

Ismael Klata, Monday, 2 April 2012 20:06 (fourteen years ago)

He's going to be officially labeled 'rubbish' by an ILF poll ending in a couple hours tho.

boxall, Monday, 2 April 2012 20:12 (fourteen years ago)

That's about Daniel de Gea though.

Ismael Klata, Monday, 2 April 2012 20:14 (fourteen years ago)

Better United performance in the stands than on the pitch

Let's Talk About Socks (Nasty, Brutish & Short), Monday, 2 April 2012 20:14 (fourteen years ago)

I'm guessing there just might be a twist in the tail though.

Ismael Klata, Monday, 2 April 2012 20:16 (fourteen years ago)

Really don't think that was a foul by Scholes

Let's Talk About Socks (Nasty, Brutish & Short), Monday, 2 April 2012 20:19 (fourteen years ago)

lovely finish by pedersen (didn't count)

mizzell, Monday, 2 April 2012 20:22 (fourteen years ago)

Jones & Hernandez off - hopefully things'll get better

Let's Talk About Socks (Nasty, Brutish & Short), Monday, 2 April 2012 20:22 (fourteen years ago)

Did the ball go out? I can't tell from the radio.

Ismael Klata, Monday, 2 April 2012 20:23 (fourteen years ago)

Yep, clearly out on the replay. It's irrelevant anyway as they'd stopped playing by the time the shot came in.

Let's Talk About Socks (Nasty, Brutish & Short), Monday, 2 April 2012 20:24 (fourteen years ago)

gahh wtf is this shit come on utd already

r|t|c, Monday, 2 April 2012 20:27 (fourteen years ago)

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

PSOD (Ste), Monday, 2 April 2012 20:33 (fourteen years ago)

All United but still no fucking shots

Let's Talk About Socks (Nasty, Brutish & Short), Monday, 2 April 2012 20:35 (fourteen years ago)

fuckin ell

PSOD (Ste), Monday, 2 April 2012 20:39 (fourteen years ago)

would you believe it.

Ismael Klata, Monday, 2 April 2012 20:40 (fourteen years ago)

Good Old-Fashioned Winger!
