it's all about the cups. it's all about the cups. it's all about the cups. argh fuck it.

Chris, Sunday, 1 April 2012 14:48 (fourteen years ago)

no Dalglish interview :(

Number None, Sunday, 1 April 2012 14:48 (fourteen years ago)

I'd have a 'what does the future hold' poll up by now were it anyone else.

Ismael Klata, Sunday, 1 April 2012 14:51 (fourteen years ago)

hey, look on the bright side, at least doni's gonna get a few games :D

Chris, Sunday, 1 April 2012 14:51 (fourteen years ago)

At least we'll get an outfielder in goal now.

Think the last time that happened was Staunton going in goal in the Derby in 99/00 wasn't it. Made a great fingertip save too.

Chris, Sunday, 1 April 2012 14:54 (fourteen years ago)

Tottenham being well outplayed here in the first 15', but I don't really trust Swansea to make sure the scoreline reflects that.

boxall, Sunday, 1 April 2012 15:19 (fourteen years ago)

Predictably, one nice Spurs counter makes it 1-0, VdV with the goal.

boxall, Sunday, 1 April 2012 15:22 (fourteen years ago)

Bale acting like a winger

Number None, Sunday, 1 April 2012 15:23 (fourteen years ago)

otm

boxall, Sunday, 1 April 2012 15:24 (fourteen years ago)

Give Bale time. He'll revert to form before you know it.

EZ Snappin, Sunday, 1 April 2012 15:25 (fourteen years ago)

Staunton at Liverpool in 2000?

Let's Talk About Socks (Nasty, Brutish & Short), Sunday, 1 April 2012 15:30 (fourteen years ago)

It's such a joy to see Bale bombing down the left again, Rangel can't cope with him at all. Swansea are playing too openly for an away game at WHL, would expect Rogers to do something about that at half time.

Modric is looking good as well, late miss aside. That guy could play for Swansea.

Homosexual Satan Wasp (Matt DC), Sunday, 1 April 2012 15:52 (fourteen years ago)

Dion Dublin keeps saying 'Bale's heels are on the chalk'.

Dublin is a bizarre 'analyst' figure, almost all his replies to questions are jovial references to his own excellence as a player.

the pinefox, Sunday, 1 April 2012 15:56 (fourteen years ago)

first goal in 133 corners for spurs

mizzell, Sunday, 1 April 2012 16:34 (fourteen years ago)

We scored from one on Wednesday.

Homosexual Satan Wasp (Matt DC), Sunday, 1 April 2012 16:41 (fourteen years ago)

league corners

Number None, Sunday, 1 April 2012 16:42 (fourteen years ago)

Have you had 132 today?

Ismael Klata, Sunday, 1 April 2012 16:42 (fourteen years ago)

Kenny is now favourite to be next manager out

Ismael Klata, Sunday, 1 April 2012 16:44 (fourteen years ago)

i posted that fact in the league thread guys. come on.

mizzell, Sunday, 1 April 2012 16:47 (fourteen years ago)

If we get one more we're back in third.

Homosexual Satan Wasp (Matt DC), Sunday, 1 April 2012 16:48 (fourteen years ago)

Siggurdsson is really good btw.

Homosexual Satan Wasp (Matt DC), Sunday, 1 April 2012 16:49 (fourteen years ago)

yeah, he has 15 goals in 47 epl and bundesliga apps

Staunton at Liverpool in 2000?

Indeed. It was after that Westerveld/Jeffers fight at Anfield and we'd used all 3 subs.

Chris, Sunday, 1 April 2012 16:59 (fourteen years ago)

Dublin is a bizarre 'analyst' figure

he thinks that Swansea's goal was a mis-struck shot, which seems entirely wrong to me

3-1 was a more or less fair score I think but Spurs' profligacy in or near the box was almost Arsenal-esque

Cantera: Vulgar Display Of Puyol (DJ Mencap), Sunday, 1 April 2012 17:06 (fourteen years ago)

(xp) How old was he by then? I have no memory of Staunton going back to Liverpool.

Let's Talk About Socks (Nasty, Brutish & Short), Sunday, 1 April 2012 17:08 (fourteen years ago)

well he was trying to keep the volley down but i don't know if the bounce was entirely intentional

Number None, Sunday, 1 April 2012 17:09 (fourteen years ago)

nah I reckon he knew how much havoc it would cause Friedel on acct of his poor positioning

Cantera: Vulgar Display Of Puyol (DJ Mencap), Sunday, 1 April 2012 17:12 (fourteen years ago)

caller to 5Live just suggested, quite seriously, that Kevin Keegan should take over at LFC till the end of the season.

the pinefox, Sunday, 1 April 2012 17:22 (fourteen years ago)

football fans are the biggest idiots in the world

red is hungry green is jawless (Noodle Vague), Sunday, 1 April 2012 17:24 (fourteen years ago)

xp pretty sure every non-Liverpool fan can get behind that idea tbf

GILFy Sigurdsson (DJ Mencap), Sunday, 1 April 2012 17:26 (fourteen years ago)

Dalglish to reign for a thousand years

Number None, Sunday, 1 April 2012 17:31 (fourteen years ago)

carragher player manager, phil thompson as assistant

staunton came back at the start of 98/99 when evans and houllier were in charge. ahh, joint managers, that was fun. he was 29 when he came back. scored against hull in the league cup. don't know why i remember that. i have to say this staunton chat is a lot more enjoyable than trying to make sense of what's going on at lfc in 2012.

Chris, Sunday, 1 April 2012 17:39 (fourteen years ago)

Staunton's got managerial experience, no?

Ismael Klata, Sunday, 1 April 2012 17:40 (fourteen years ago)

no

Number None, Sunday, 1 April 2012 17:40 (fourteen years ago)

no way is dalglish going any time soon btw. don't know why i'm so sure of this but there ya go.

Chris, Sunday, 1 April 2012 17:41 (fourteen years ago)

Stevie G for player-manager surely!

the pinefox, Sunday, 1 April 2012 17:41 (fourteen years ago)

Dalglish won't be manager when the next season starts.

red is hungry green is jawless (Noodle Vague), Sunday, 1 April 2012 17:46 (fourteen years ago)

I think Kenny's finished now myself, he probably won't go now because there's a semifinal shortly, but he'll be gone with thanks as soon as the season's over. That was the kind of shambles, rounding off a dreadful streak, that managers rarely recover from. The players are obviously all over the place, mentally.

I'm thinking it'll be Rafa.

Ismael Klata, Sunday, 1 April 2012 17:47 (fourteen years ago)

Really ??

the pinefox, Sunday, 1 April 2012 17:55 (fourteen years ago)

I mean I can see KD going but not RB coming back.

the pinefox, Sunday, 1 April 2012 17:56 (fourteen years ago)

rewatched qpr last night and our defensive strategy is all over the place. some players pressing, others not, leaving gaps, downing at centreforward for restarts, in a 442 shape sometimes, 451 at others. no-one seems to have a clue what they're supposed to be doing, and it makes you wonder what the hell they're doing on the training pitch. same today, spearing presses, leaves a huge gap behind him - basic stuff. i posted a video recently of rafa's lfc pressing against villa in 08/09, and it was fucking beautiful. not saying we should be at that level already at this stage of kenny's project, but ffs it's march, and we don't seem to have any idea whatsoever of what *the plan* is. are we analysing games? figuring out what's going wrong? even attempting to put things right? because it's been the same problems all season. and yet every now and again we do look very good. first 20mins today, excellent, thought we were on to something, moving it from back to front with confidence. but when we keep falling apart like this, i dunno, is kenny just leaving it all to the players to figure out for themselves?

he'll still be here next season mind. and no way is rafa coming back, however much i want him to.

Chris, Sunday, 1 April 2012 17:59 (fourteen years ago)

however much i want him to.

(in 10 years time when kenny's won us a few league titles and a couple of european cups obv.)

Chris, Sunday, 1 April 2012 18:04 (fourteen years ago)

hi

no way does dalglish last june

third, i'm tellin ye. adebayor rubbish today besides two centre fwd goals- i can live with that but he'd get more if he

i. took up centre fwd positions
ii. jumped ffs

less of the same (darraghmac), Sunday, 1 April 2012 19:48 (fourteen years ago)

which spurs player was it that accidentally kicked a swansea player when he was supposed to kick the ground in frustration? that was funny.

Chris, Sunday, 1 April 2012 20:11 (fourteen years ago)

walker

mizzell, Sunday, 1 April 2012 20:12 (fourteen years ago)

Pardew attributed Cissé's excellent performance to diet. The striker's two goals here took his Premier League total to seven since his debut in February – two more than Carroll has managed in the league in 14 months at Liverpool. "We had Africa day at the training ground on Friday," Pardew said. "We made him feel at home by having curried goat for lunch. It was lovely."

Lawro is like D-Mac in thinking Spurs 3rd

I liked the casual authority with which he said it

the pinefox, Monday, 2 April 2012 07:49 (fourteen years ago)

Lawro is now much better pundit than Hansen / Shearer unless it is just the magic MotD2 influence.
