The Mirror is claiming Anzhi are going to give Chelsea £45m for Torres. I know you're super rich lads but you could probably get that price down a bit

Number None, Friday, 30 March 2012 10:58 (fourteen years ago)

That's like my initial attempts at haggling when I went to North Africa. You don't feel good afterwards.

Ismael Klata, Friday, 30 March 2012 11:08 (fourteen years ago)

i try not to brag on ilx about my few definite and irl applicable skills, but five years of dealing with irish landlords has my haggling skills razor-sharp, i often have to remind myself to go easy on the softer ones

Anyway, torres, assuming his wages had to be maintained post-move, is a 15m right winger.

less of the same (darraghmac), Friday, 30 March 2012 11:14 (fourteen years ago)

Stop being a tease Roberto and tell us how Sergio injured his foot. CMMMMOOONN!

hope he'll receive as much love as muamba did

Rosie 47 (ken c), Friday, 30 March 2012 14:55 (fourteen years ago)

Damn, that's awful. Thought he was one of the few players on Villa worth watching.

boxall, Friday, 30 March 2012 15:18 (fourteen years ago)

I got to thinking the other day that those weird Adidas tops Chelsea and Liverpool wear, the ones that can't decide whether they're short or long sleeved, might be contributing to their struggles.

boxall, Friday, 30 March 2012 16:05 (fourteen years ago)

don't worry, we're wearing warrior next season. just you wait ;)

Chris, Friday, 30 March 2012 16:12 (fourteen years ago)

Chris, Friday, 30 March 2012 16:18 (fourteen years ago)

"I want my corners!"

EZ Snappin, Friday, 30 March 2012 16:31 (fourteen years ago)

not sure those kits are genuine ben. seen some which supposedly are and they're nicer than those.

saw someone on twitter suggesting we get snoop and chris partlow to defend our corners.

Chris, Friday, 30 March 2012 16:38 (fourteen years ago)

Something about Charlie Adam's $1m corners.

Dan is every top-flight match in the US this summer compiled in one place anywhere that you know of?

jabba hands, Friday, 30 March 2012 17:25 (fourteen years ago)

That BS thread should be a good list. There might be some missing because not every team is playing an MLS club, but I'd bet my ass that SUM (marketing wing of MLS) is organizing them all so the MLS site will have listings. Liverpool/Roma is in Boston ahead of the Spurs game, Aston Villa is coming to Chicago and Portland to play the Fire and Timbers, Roma says they're playing in Chicago too (no opponent listed yet, probably Guadalajara or America) etc etc. There will be quite a few.

dan m, Friday, 30 March 2012 17:25 (fourteen years ago)

Some enterprising soul should organise it a little more, schedule a final, and just call it the Club World Cup (or whatever the FIFA thing isn't called). The clubs would go for that big time I reckon, there's money in it and they're there already.

Ismael Klata, Friday, 30 March 2012 17:31 (fourteen years ago)

Didn't that already happen last summer?

Thanks for the link btw.

boxall, Friday, 30 March 2012 17:32 (fourteen years ago)

They actually kind of did that in the past two years. Last year was the "Herbalife World Football Challenge" or something like that, made completely confusing (in addition to being meaningless from the start) because each team did not play the same number or games or similar opponents.

dan m, Friday, 30 March 2012 17:32 (fourteen years ago)

That sounds awful though. The FIFA thing's never going to take off, it's ripe for takeover imo.

Ismael Klata, Friday, 30 March 2012 17:33 (fourteen years ago)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2011_World_Football_Challenge

I remember that Barca-Guadalajara match being pretty good, for July.

boxall, Friday, 30 March 2012 17:34 (fourteen years ago)

Yeah Chivas always seems to get up for those matches.

dan m, Friday, 30 March 2012 17:36 (fourteen years ago)

What a strange format. Barcelona's three games were the last three in the tourney?

One or two host cities, saturate them with footy for a fortnight imo

Ismael Klata, Friday, 30 March 2012 17:39 (fourteen years ago)

boxall if you want all top flight MLS matches and friendlies (and CONCACAF Champs League etc): http://www.mlssoccer.com/schedule

Crowds of Utd fans descending on somewhere in Alabama, running battles with your riot cops, it'd be a blast.

Ismael Klata, Friday, 30 March 2012 17:43 (fourteen years ago)

lol

dan m, Friday, 30 March 2012 17:43 (fourteen years ago)

LOL don't suppose anyone read big sam's column in the standard today:

"I don’t need to play any mind games before tomorrow’s match against Reading. One look at the Championship table shows you how important it is. All I will say is that I expect it to be a tight affair. They will try to frustrate us, make everyone nervous and try to take advantage from that scenario.

We know it will be a game of patience, focus and resilience. We need to wait for the right time to pounce and then do it with the speed and venom of a rattlesnake."

Ismael Klata, Friday, 30 March 2012 22:08 (fourteen years ago)

Today we put Arsenal to the sword. Look at it this way: QPR beat Chelsea and Liverpool at home, and gave best display of the season in losing 3-2 to Man City. All the omens point to a home win today.

EXCEPT FOR US BEING ABSOLUTELY FUCKING SHIT ALL OVER THE FUCKING PITCH WITH A TEAM FULL OF PLAYERS WHO NO LONGER GIVE A TOSS.
