HBO adaptation of Game of Thrones - will this be just for nerds? (NO SPOILERS PLEASE)

then again creators swearing they have an ending is always suspect these days

but there's no way they could do the ending on the show before the books finish. there'd be a nerd uprising

re: staying power - i guess we'll know how popular this show is based on the season 2 premiere numbers and that's likely to sway how long they keep the thing going. If it gets sopranos numbers, i imagine it'll be on for ten years.

If this season is a solid improvement ratings wise and that holds up for the rest of the seasons there's no way HBO won't greenlight it through the end. That's a given unless public interest suddenly plummets.

i thought i read they were going to start blurring the lines between the books at the end of this season, and messing a bit more with the chronology, in order to fit everything in neatly and pace the 3rd book properly

man stoked for season 2 to start. i started reading the books about a month ago and now i'm less than 200 pages from finishing them. the new season will be help me come down gently... until it finishes and i realise we are no closer to getting book 6.

That scene was great, but I think it was a desperate move to prove something to herself. I hope Tyrion pisses Joffrey and Cersei off a lot.

I want to say more, but I'll just say that it's the show making a meta-point about power; the viewers are going to be well-acquainted with the "knowledge is power" cliche, but when you've got mindlessly obedient guards with you, then that's just a cliche and nothing more.

I got that vibe, but as it happened soon after her getting a talking down by Joffrey I assumed that part of it had to do with her trying to prove herself.

Before watching this episode I hadn't really anticipated how much I'd enjoy the Dragonstone crew and their antics, but now I'm sure they'll be my favorite part of the season.

Stannis and Davos are both spot on, though Melisandre could be a bit scarier.

Only just realised in this one that King's Landing is clearly Dubrovnik.
