Thats not meta thats a Star Trek riff. And didn't they already do an evil twin episode?

"Evil Troy and Abed" appeared in the 'chaos theory' ep.

you're tiresome.

abeds at the end was . . . promising? hope they try to retrieve him, expect it'll be ignored

tbf if my apt had a dreamatorium i'd be in there 24/7

If the rest of the season is going in the direction of the latest episode, I am strapping the fuck in for this ride.

Was great as a fraudulent Spanish teacher, so lame as an insane security guard.

also deric maybe you should stop reading this thread, i can't stop imagining you crying

think my fav part of this episode (which wasn't great, though I liked the Abed/Troy rift) was the Dean crawling on the floor.

did you get something else out of "both michael jacksons" before the costume reveal? that was sorta what i pictured from the jump

BIG HOOS aka the steendriver, Saturday, 24 March 2012 08:14 (fourteen years ago)

i took it to be the obvious skin-color joke everyone made in elementary school. or on "slow jamz" if you're kanye.

JIM THOMETHEUS (zachlyon), Saturday, 24 March 2012 08:24 (fourteen years ago)

Dean was A+. Rest was kinda meh. Nice to see wusshisface from 3rd Rock.

Yeah, seriously, Chang is dragging everything down.

What I'm trying to say is remove every scene with Chang and replace it with a scene with the Dean because that equals...

i. i am starting to enjoy how much of a 'thing' the study-room shops are becoming, always as cold opens or immediately following the credits
ii. but it makes for very slow/measured openings, which is ... maybe a mistake for a show perpetually on the verge of cancellation
iii. although maybe just the 'welcome back you guys!!' stuff threw me
iv. dean crawling was great
v. so was jeff hulking out
vi. but being too proud of themselves to set the gag up properly really sucked
vii. actually structurally the whole celebrities sequence was a little off, like they'd gone 'they'll all be dressed as celebrities! and then ... stuff happens!'
viii. although i have no idea who french stewart is so maybe that was why
ix. chevy still great

thomp, Saturday, 24 March 2012 12:00 (fourteen years ago)

i like/don't like how they avoid idiot ball stuff with the 'who is being a caricature this week' schtick

thomp, Saturday, 24 March 2012 12:01 (fourteen years ago)

I assume everyone caught that when Jeff was coming down on the side of the road, shirtless in his torn pants, they were playing the sad Hulk piano music?

Josh in Chicago, Saturday, 24 March 2012 13:00 (fourteen years ago)

i did but only, i suspected, from having seen family guy (?) use that gag.

i did think the welcome back stuff was confusing. weren't they just already back?

j., Saturday, 24 March 2012 16:36 (fourteen years ago)

Last week's episode was meant to be third in this season re-start, but they pushed it up because they felt it would be a bit more indicative of how the group dynamic works and it was a little more...normal.

stay in school if you want to kiw (Gukbe), Saturday, 24 March 2012 18:41 (fourteen years ago)

Pre-WWII style cartoon of the Dean is maybe one of my favorite things from the whole series. If I were getting a tattoo (ever), I would consider using it.

Johnny Fever, Saturday, 24 March 2012 20:42 (fourteen years ago)

I thought this one missed the mark quite a bit but the scene with the Dean was awesome, also Britte as Jacko. Think part of the reason Chang is less funny now is that he's just off to the side doing his own thing rather than interacting with the other characters, they haven't managed to make the security guard thing work with the rest of the cast, which is weird because it had immense comic potential.

Felt like this ep was just setting a load of stuff up for later on? All the in-episode graphics were a bit weird.

GEEKY LINE OF CONVERSATION THE WRITERS OBVIOUSLY WANT PEOPLE TO HAVE ON INTERNET FORUMS: The Abed in this timeline has never thought about or seen Evil Abed before, right? Are they *actually* doing Evil Troy & Evil Abed crossing over to destroy the good versions of themselves? Seeing Evil Abed is always a joy though.

Homosexual Satan Wasp (Matt DC), Sunday, 25 March 2012 17:44 (fourteen years ago)

He has a weird *feeling* while eating cereal w/ Troy in the same timeline time as the creation of ET&A and when Troy asks him about it he says its "nothing".

Thoughts? You must have loads. (a hoy hoy), Sunday, 25 March 2012 18:09 (fourteen years ago)

If we ever see anyone else interact with Evil Troy, then we would know he and Evil Abed are real. But in theory, Evil Abed and Evil Troy both could still be a figment of Abed's imagination. Would be great if the show ended with a collision of parallel dimensions. Beats "it was all a dream."

Josh in Chicago, Sunday, 25 March 2012 18:19 (fourteen years ago)

Sadly, I think the Law & Order ep will never live up to what I imagine: Detective Munch walking in to investigate the crime in Greendale; Troy and Abed recoiling in horror as they realise they're part of the Westphall universe and spending the episode trying to prove that this isn't the real Munch...

OH - great episode. The Britta-1984 romance plot was excellent.

OWLS 3D (R Baez), Friday, 30 March 2012 01:26 (fourteen years ago)

Yeah, that's him.

Loved this week's Magnitude appearance, and this is definitely one of the better product placement workarounds I've seen.

Also, I love the way Shirley will sometimes say "Brit-ta".

at one point britta was eating popchips

Mordy, Friday, 30 March 2012 01:29 (fourteen years ago)

The 'get my coat' exchange was the best.

I figured as much last week, but I feel much more certain at this point that pieces are being positioned in anticipation of a season(ish)-long story arc of some sort.

The Itchy And Scratchy Glowbo Blow (Deric W. Haircare), Friday, 30 March 2012 01:43 (fourteen years ago)

in some pre-season interviews Harmon talked a bit about watching the wire all summer and wondering if you could do big long arcs like that on a sitcom and that it was his goal to try, so yeah, probably.

Clay, Friday, 30 March 2012 02:01 (fourteen years ago)

He also said somewhere that serialization is a crutch.

Anyway, "Britta Unfiltered" "I get it!"

I didn't even get the coat rack bit! My o/h had to explain it to me!

Peppermint Patty Hearst (VegemiteGrrl), Friday, 30 March 2012 05:50 (fourteen years ago)

I dug this ep. I loved the sword noises and gunshots during the fight scene at the end

Peppermint Patty Hearst (VegemiteGrrl), Friday, 30 March 2012 05:50 (fourteen years ago)

Watched the last two eps tonight:

We know that they can bridge universes b/c that's what happened in model U.N./Crisis Alert ep. Evil Abed showing up and Chang building his personal guard of 13-year-old jewish kids were nice little set-ups for the rest of the season. I enjoyed all the meta-Seacrest jokes, including the ones that chimed in with those Joel himself makes on The Soup. Also, nice Incredible Hulk tv-show ending ref at the end.

Curious to see if John Oliver makes an appearance at all.
