I kind of like how season 4 season ended in such a satisfactory way, but there are all these hidden cliffhangers once you start thinking about it for a couple of minutes
Another one is the fact there is a whole meth distribution territory opening up for whoever wants it

at some point walt will look at jesse, grit his teeth, and say "we have to cook."

is s5 the final season?
creator used to say he would go for 4 seasons, 5 at the most, and there were some weird negotiations with AMC about renewing last time (part of the reason season 5 got split in 2 iirc) so this might be it. but who knows?
also Mike is gonna come back from Mexico
^ this
― diamanda ram dass (Edward III), Monday, 19 March 2012 21:08 (fourteen years ago)
as well as being split in two, S5 is expanded to 16 episodes iirc - Gilligan definitely says it's going to be the last
― ┗|∵|┓ (sic), Monday, 19 March 2012 22:03 (fourteen years ago)
this coming season has been definitively acknowledged by gilligan and amc as the final season since like halfway through the airing of s4.
― Clay, Tuesday, 20 March 2012 00:35 (fourteen years ago)
where are they gonna cook? at the car wash?

― Bo Jackson Overdrive, Tuesday, 20 March 2012 01:14 (fourteen years ago)
If they cook again, how are they going to obtain the necessary chemicals/gear? Even though they're not likely to cook on as large a scale anymore, they can't just keep stealing drums of methylamine from warehouses. Walt's school lab thievery nearly got him busted before, not to mention the fact that he no longer works there.
― naus, Tuesday, 20 March 2012 08:19 (fourteen years ago)
They have connections now that they didn't have then, like Mike. I'd say he knows some people who can score you a few drums of something if you need them.
This wouldn't surprise me. All that talk about dangerous chemicals that got them the business in the first place...

― hot and brothered (Eric H.), Tuesday, 27 March 2012 03:13 (fourteen years ago)
Yes, it's good to relive these scenes vicariously through ENBB and remember how gobsmacked we all were by them at the time.

haha yes
― Nhex, Tuesday, 27 March 2012 12:01 (fourteen years ago)
really wish the turtle hadn't blown up so it could appear randomly walking along in the background of various scenes for the rest of the series
― I DIED, Tuesday, 27 March 2012 14:22 (fourteen years ago)
When Hank looked through the binoculars and saw the head I thought it was either just a decapitated head sitting on the ground or that he'd been buried up to his shoulders. When they went in for the close shot and I saw the turtle in its full glory I literally screamed not out of hear but more out of total WTFness.

I rewatched Boxcutter last night and jesus, it's just as tense even when you know exactly what's coming. I'm sure it's already been mentioned, but the sound design in the centrepiece scene is phenomenal. There's this slowly rising drone throughout the whole sequence, underlying Gus' measured footsteps and Walt's desperate babbling.

God, Walter is such an asshole sometimes. Hating him right now.― wolf kabob (ENBB),
It's funny how your sympathies change as the series evolves. At first you think Jessie’s just some hapless, stoner asshole and Walt is doing this out of some twisted sense of providing for his family's welfare. But by the middle of season one you realize Walt actually enjoys this shit, because it gives him a sense of power and control, while Jessie is, at heart, a basically decent dude. I get the sense that Walter is really a heartless bastard who would kill you because he did the math and figured you're either expendable or a possible threat. It makes me wonder just how far he'll go.
― Ashes, Pits of Ashes (leavethecapital), Sunday, 1 April 2012 02:41 (fourteen years ago)

do you remember a character named Gayle? also, the NA meetings thing is some of the most evil shit done by anybody in the show. my theory is that of all the characters on the show, people identify most with Jesse - maybe they're nearest to him demographically? - so they make excuses for his sociopathic crap. the show's whole point imo is that everybody in it is toxic, literally the only blameless party in the whole history of the show is the baby & frankly I don't trust the baby much either
― tempestuous alaskan nites! (underrated aerosmith bootlegs I have owned), Sunday, 1 April 2012 21:15 (fourteen years ago)
people identify with jesse because he seems vulnerable
― A Little Princess btw (s1ocki), Sunday, 1 April 2012 21:29 (fourteen years ago)
plus xbox, plus he's hot, plus he can draw, plus he got his heart broken, plus he's a real human being, none of these things unfortunately are antidotes to being a sociopath but then the contrary is true as well
― TracerHandVEVO (Tracer Hand), Sunday, 1 April 2012 21:52 (fourteen years ago)
jesse is a guy who does fucked up things but feels bad about them, which people can relate to even if they're not drug dealing murderers. you can imagine him finding redemption in the right circumstances, whereas walt's just getting more and more coldblooded. it's not that walt's the bad guy and jesse's the good guy, they're both badguys, but walt's the one who's too far gone and jesse's the guy who you can sort of root for to find his humanity again
(i like walt more)
