― PSOD (Ste), Friday, 30 March 2012 23:23 (fourteen years ago)
now that echofon is a huge hunk of shit i literally can't find a small, unobtrusive twitter client for windows. ?? where should i be looking? (NB i don't use lists....... yet)
― TracerHandVEVO (Tracer Hand), Friday, 13 April 2012 14:00 (fourteen years ago)
is there tweetbot for windows
― lag∞n, Friday, 13 April 2012 14:08 (fourteen years ago)
no it is ios only, maybe try twitters one
― lag∞n, Friday, 13 April 2012 14:12 (fourteen years ago)
ok i'm giving something called "destroy twitter" a try
― TracerHandVEVO (Tracer Hand), Friday, 13 April 2012 14:24 (fourteen years ago)
rip twitter, was prob time tbh
― lag∞n, Friday, 13 April 2012 14:25 (fourteen years ago)
was gonna say DestroyTwitter. MetroTwit is not ugly, but has no single-column mode
― stet, Friday, 13 April 2012 14:47 (fourteen years ago)
nm, can't install Air on this machine
;_;
― TracerHandVEVO (Tracer Hand), Friday, 13 April 2012 15:25 (fourteen years ago)

― lag∞n, Friday, 13 April 2012 15:39 (fourteen years ago)

― lag∞n, Friday, 13 April 2012 15:40 (fourteen years ago)
don't think they have a windows one, do they?
― stet, Friday, 13 April 2012 16:01 (fourteen years ago)
some website i looked at said they did, there was a lil checkmark next to windows
― lag∞n, Friday, 13 April 2012 16:03 (fourteen years ago)
i think tweetdeck is the 'official' windows client, but it runs on air
― diamonddave85, Friday, 13 April 2012 16:05 (fourteen years ago)
this one is not built on air apparently http://www.metrotwit.com/
― lag∞n, Friday, 13 April 2012 16:09 (fourteen years ago)
yeah but it takes up the whole fuckin screen, i want something that will slide away when unwanted and discreetly pop its head above the parapet when it is
― TracerHandVEVO (Tracer Hand), Friday, 13 April 2012 19:47 (fourteen years ago)
not to mention that i seriously doubt this machine is going to let me install .NET Framework 4.0 on it, wtf windows seriously, W T F
― TracerHandVEVO (Tracer Hand), Friday, 13 April 2012 19:48 (fourteen years ago)
echofon was really perfect for awhile but then they lost their minds and saddled it with some weird OAuth login process that is buggy as fuck, and made the whole thing silver and bulbous and messed up where it was positioned on the screen
― TracerHandVEVO (Tracer Hand), Friday, 13 April 2012 19:52 (fourteen years ago)
weren't third party clients forced to use oauth by twitter at some point? i think i actually was looking at something talking about that recently . . . perhaps on daring fireball
― markers, Friday, 13 April 2012 19:54 (fourteen years ago)
http://daringfireball.net/2011/05/twitter_shit_sandwich
― markers, Friday, 13 April 2012 19:55 (fourteen years ago)
But there’s a big shit sandwich attached: Twitter is implementing this change by requiring all third-party clients that want or need access to direct messages to use the cumbersome OAuth login flow for authentication.
this grace dent/hapless pr misogynist saga is amusing me more than it should
― liberté, égalité, beyoncé (lex pretend), Monday, 16 April 2012 09:23 (fourteen years ago)
still cannot find a plain old, non-air minimal twitter client for windows
something that sits in the task tray would be ideal
― TracerHandVEVO (Tracer Hand), Monday, 16 April 2012 15:38 (fourteen years ago)
why dont u just use the website, the web is cool man #theweb
― lag∞n, Monday, 16 April 2012 15:40 (fourteen years ago)
new tab, go to URL, wait for slow-ass twitter to load, etc NYET
i want an auto-updating thing that just sits in the corner humming away LIKE ECHOFON USED TO BE
― TracerHandVEVO (Tracer Hand), Monday, 16 April 2012 15:43 (fourteen years ago)
Blu does that, I think. You need .net 3.5 at least, though.
― stet, Monday, 16 April 2012 15:44 (fourteen years ago)
the website does auto update
― lag∞n, Monday, 16 April 2012 15:44 (fourteen years ago)
i use the website, i prefer it, its part of my webflow
― lag∞n, Monday, 16 April 2012 15:46 (fourteen years ago)

is there like a catchall social media thread do people here use http://www.thisismyjam.com/
― puff puff post (uh oh I'm having a fantasy), Tuesday, 17 April 2012 23:02 (fourteen years ago)
I like the site a lot you can just load it up once a week and hear one nice jam per person or w/e
yep, i use it
― TracerHandVEVO (Tracer Hand), Wednesday, 18 April 2012 10:56 (fourteen years ago)
i installed Blu on my XP machine and the entire application looked like it had been put through a "distressed" filter in photoshop, and wriggled when i moved it
― TracerHandVEVO (Tracer Hand), Wednesday, 18 April 2012 10:57 (fourteen years ago)
i don't really "get" thisismyjam yet - i already put tons of music recommendations on twitter and facebook and tumblr - but a friend of mine is behind it so i'm sticking with it and seeing where it goes. plus it looks sleek, always a plus
― liberté, égalité, beyoncé (lex pretend), Wednesday, 18 April 2012 11:11 (fourteen years ago)
like the idea, and the site, but absolutely loathe the phrase "this is my jam".
― Upt0eleven, Wednesday, 18 April 2012 11:58 (fourteen years ago)
you can theme blu back to something sane, right? Sorry if not!
― stet, Wednesday, 18 April 2012 15:00 (fourteen years ago)
what on earth is wrong with the phrase "this is my jam"

otm.
basically i just see the first person tweet and can't possibly imagine the tweeter referring to a song they like in that way. a part of this is feeling that "jam" should refer to a particular type of song. "the hanging garden"? "wonky"? really?
it's an innocuous ia thing.
― Upt0eleven, Wednesday, 18 April 2012 15:35 (fourteen years ago)
I don't know, I have mixed feelings. On the con side, I dislike the casualness of the tone - it's on the verge of innocentese. On the other hand, though, it's not like I've never called something a jam or said I was jamming something or whatever - it's a concept I understand as being the same as "I'm digging this song, daddio", and I'm always surprised when a friend doesn't seem to get it at all. Maybe I should start imdiggingthissongdaddio.com for all the old hepcats who don't like jamming?
― emil.y, Wednesday, 18 April 2012 15:48 (fourteen years ago)
I dislike the casualness of the tone - it's on the verge of innocentese.
yesss, i was gonna say exactly that.
― Touché Gödel (ledge), Wednesday, 18 April 2012 15:49 (fourteen years ago)
Anyway, the site itself is kind of cool, it's certainly not anything innovative or life-changing, it's just a good way of putting up music without the rush you can sometimes fall into when you're flinging youtubes up on facebook willy-nilly.
― emil.y, Wednesday, 18 April 2012 15:51 (fourteen years ago)
i totally ignored this is my jam as I assumed it was people's own music creations
