“I tried to steal beer from a Duane Reade, and some black guy cold-cocked me.” “Oh, like a security guard?”“I don’t know, pal, I don’t see people that way”
― mizzell, Friday, 16 March 2012 13:05 (fourteen years ago)

'It's St. Patrick's Day!?!' - with Megan jumping onto Dennis is where I spit-take - hi-friggin-larious.
― BlackIronPrison, Friday, 16 March 2012 13:51 (fourteen years ago)
so many great dennis duffy lines
"you missed the end of the lez movie ... they got back together, and marc ruffalo is just going to do his own thing with his restaurant"
― congratulations (n/a), Friday, 16 March 2012 14:43 (fourteen years ago)

yeah duffy was so good last night
― max, Friday, 16 March 2012 15:11 (fourteen years ago)
when jack "cursed" liz and then she woke up to this american life playing on the clock radio i could have sworn they were going into a groundhog day thing
― congratulations (n/a), Friday, 16 March 2012 16:48 (fourteen years ago)

― lag∞n, Friday, 16 March 2012 19:52 (fourteen years ago)
cant wait until some nerds w/too much time on their hands create a rl verz of that settlers/d&d board game jack and the writers played
― Lamp, Friday, 16 March 2012 19:53 (fourteen years ago)
It had so many subsystems for a board game. It resembled the sort of homebrew madness that agglomerates over the course of years in someone's basement.
― Nicholas Pokémon (silby), Friday, 16 March 2012 19:58 (fourteen years ago)
eh, it reminded me of Civilization
― thuggish ruggish Brahms (DJP), Friday, 16 March 2012 19:59 (fourteen years ago)
It seems kind of out of balance if you can just play a fire card in the desert and the game is over.
― polyphonic, Friday, 16 March 2012 20:00 (fourteen years ago)
I was waiting for Toofer or Frank to say "congratulations, you just set yourself on fire and died"
― thuggish ruggish Brahms (DJP), Friday, 16 March 2012 20:02 (fourteen years ago)
if only you could cast fire spells in civilization... fukken genghis

― Nicholas Pokémon (silby), Friday, 16 March 2012 20:27 (fourteen years ago)
the guy who plays Donaghee's assistant lives somewhere in Downtown Brooklyn/BK Heights -- I used to see him all the time. I actually felt like everytime I would see him there would be this thing where I would stare at him for a second because "oh, it's that guy" and then he would shoot me a bit of a flirty look and it would be kind of awkward, like "I'm just staring at you because you're that guy!"
― the prurient pinterest (Hurting 2), Friday, 16 March 2012 20:29 (fourteen years ago)
I think that game was a ripoff of Settlers of Catan. I've never played, but my gf does with her nerdy friends...
― schwantz, Friday, 16 March 2012 21:25 (fourteen years ago)
i saw him having dinner at vinegar hill house, he was w/ a handsome gent
― max, Friday, 16 March 2012 21:26 (fourteen years ago)
it was settlers w/ more fantasy elements
and with more D&D-like freedom
― congratulations (n/a), Friday, 16 March 2012 21:29 (fourteen years ago)
dear nerds, they were making fun of settlers of catan
― lag∞n, Friday, 16 March 2012 21:34 (fourteen years ago)

the guy who plays Donaghee's assistant lives somewhere
I don't think we've seen more than a few blurry background shots of the new dude, no wonder he thought you were flirty

discovered when i was googling something from ilx and saw this on the results page:
In response to a complaint we received under the US Digital Millennium Copyright Act, we have removed 1 result(s) from this page. If you wish, you may read the DMCA complaint that caused the removal(s) at ChillingEffects.org.
i'm not looking back through 8,000 messages but i'm sure that there's a possibility that someone mentioned the possibility of watching this show via means that were possibly not legal
― thomp, Monday, 19 March 2012 02:33 (fourteen years ago)
also did they do a shilling-for-apple episode too? oh good
at least two links far upthread directly to certain sites that probably provide directly dmca-frowned-upon sorts of things.
― s.clover, Monday, 19 March 2012 02:47 (fourteen years ago)

this is why other forums have sticky topics that are like DON'T LINK TO WAREZ I guess.
― Nicholas Pokémon (silby), Monday, 19 March 2012 03:11 (fourteen years ago)
Maybe all that 'talking about joeks we enjoyed' was stealing NBC property.
― a hoy hoy, Monday, 19 March 2012 07:59 (fourteen years ago)
You nerds missed the Game Of Thrones credit spoof, or possibly you were vomiting into bagpipes while that happened.
― Johnny Favre (Leee), Tuesday, 20 March 2012 04:39 (fourteen years ago)
i thought the sweep of the game board was distinctly reminiscent of the GoT intro credits

i lol'd but this line is somehow funnier in print
― BIG HOOS aka the steendriver, Tuesday, 20 March 2012 05:43 (fourteen years ago)
its double funny because marc ruffalo is just going to do his own thing with his restaurant is such a poor summery of where rufflos characters ends up in exactly the way dennis would misunderstand it
― lag∞n, Tuesday, 20 March 2012 05:46 (fourteen years ago)
that might actually be x3 funny
― lag∞n, Tuesday, 20 March 2012 05:47 (fourteen years ago)
i've been laughing at the "lez movie" riff off and on for days
― goole, Tuesday, 20 March 2012 18:02 (fourteen years ago)
yeah it was beautifully done
― max, Tuesday, 20 March 2012 18:04 (fourteen years ago)
i think dennis duffy is one of my favorite characters in anything ever
― lag∞n, Tuesday, 20 March 2012 18:55 (fourteen years ago)
i have to admit - i had no idea what the "lez movie" stuff was about.
― Porto for Pyros (The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall), Tuesday, 20 March 2012 19:06 (fourteen years ago)
but i laughed so no one would think i was dumb.

confession: i didn't even realize the line was a reference to a real movie, it was the wide applicability of it that made me lol
dunno how it being "kids are all right" ref changes my feelings w/r/t its hilarity
― BIG HOOS aka the steendriver, Tuesday, 20 March 2012 19:06 (fourteen years ago)
nah still hilares
its a good movie if you guys have never seen it, has a kind named lazer
