Hey, welcome back the old "I find funny, attractive women confusing" argument.

Chuck_Tatum, Friday, 16 March 2012 10:37 (fourteen years ago)

When the main example for your thesis misses the blindingly obvious fact that the character in question was super super high, you may have written a Terri le article.

Grr terrible

thuggish ruggish Brahms (DJP), Friday, 16 March 2012 12:08 (fourteen years ago)

i was wondering who this Terri Le person was

some dude, Friday, 16 March 2012 12:59 (fourteen years ago)

btw guys, the answer isn't happy endings, even tho that show is super fun. the best new sitcom is suburgatory.

Mordy, Friday, 16 March 2012 13:41 (fourteen years ago)

ugh, no, that show is terrible

stan this sick bunt (jon /via/ chi 2.0), Friday, 16 March 2012 13:43 (fourteen years ago)

Also terrible: http://www.salon.com/2012/03/16/communitys_identity_crisis/

Chuck_Tatum, Friday, 16 March 2012 13:43 (fourteen years ago)

Mordy, Friday, 16 March 2012 13:44 (fourteen years ago)

i really like Suburgatory but i don't feel like it's a constant lol kind of show

some dude, Friday, 16 March 2012 13:44 (fourteen years ago)

lol @ dumbass Salon writer saying Community just started its 4th season because there was a short mid-season break

some dude, Friday, 16 March 2012 13:45 (fourteen years ago)

How much more wrong does it get from "fourth season premiere? I couldn't bear to read on when their facts are so bogglingly wrong from the get go.

(lol xpost)

stan this sick bunt (jon /via/ chi 2.0), Friday, 16 March 2012 13:45 (fourteen years ago)

Also wasn't that episode actually written ages ago?

Homosexual Satan Wasp (Matt DC), Friday, 16 March 2012 13:47 (fourteen years ago)

Also smh at the idea of this show having an "identity crisis", was this his second episode ever?

stan this sick bunt (jon /via/ chi 2.0), Friday, 16 March 2012 13:48 (fourteen years ago)

Suburbagatory is funny but I wouldn't call it the BEST NEW SHOW or whatever

Tessa's creepy friend next door is fantastic tho

thuggish ruggish Brahms (DJP), Friday, 16 March 2012 13:49 (fourteen years ago)

omg the black sticom article underneath the Community article is almost as bad

thuggish ruggish Brahms (DJP), Friday, 16 March 2012 13:53 (fourteen years ago)

maybe suburgatory is funnier if you actually live in the suburbs

Mordy, Friday, 16 March 2012 13:55 (fourteen years ago)

not really. i gave it two chances now and i thought both were awful.

stan this sick bunt (jon /via/ chi 2.0), Friday, 16 March 2012 13:57 (fourteen years ago)

jon, nothing personal, but aside from the fact we're both posting on the Community thread i don't really suspect we share tastes in anything

Mordy, Friday, 16 March 2012 13:58 (fourteen years ago)

lol

I agree that this was a really underwhelming season premiere. I wish people weren't forcing me to like this show.

I'm interested in learning more about this shittiness metric you're using.

Soggy Cheeseburgers (Deric W. Haircare), Friday, 16 March 2012 16:13 (fourteen years ago)

Because I think you might be using it wrong.

otm :(

congratulations (n/a), Friday, 16 March 2012 16:14 (fourteen years ago)

lol @ a slightly subpar episode somehow "proving" that its been "shitty" all along

stan this sick bunt (jon /via/ chi 2.0), Friday, 16 March 2012 16:15 (fourteen years ago)

Because I think you might be using it wrong.

as a fan of parks & rec you should ask yourself: 'do i think this is good television?' and if the answer is yes than its probably a shitty show

Lamp, Friday, 16 March 2012 16:16 (fourteen years ago)

I dispute the premise that this episode was in any way subpar.

Johnny Fever, Friday, 16 March 2012 16:17 (fourteen years ago)

it was better than the ACTUAL season premiere at least

some dude, Friday, 16 March 2012 16:18 (fourteen years ago)

"looking back this show is actually bad" is the kind of thing you're supposed to say about a show from childhood, not a show from a few months ago

da croupier, Friday, 16 March 2012 16:19 (fourteen years ago)

unless you're just talking shit i mean

da croupier, Friday, 16 March 2012 16:20 (fourteen years ago)

The A-Team? Objectively bad, it's true.

Community? Still great.

Johnny Fever, Friday, 16 March 2012 16:20 (fourteen years ago)

Well, admittedly neither show holds a candle to the revolutionary and mindblowing Revenge..........

Soggy Cheeseburgers (Deric W. Haircare), Friday, 16 March 2012 16:28 (fourteen years ago)

I think what we really need is lagoon's Universal Comedy Meter to settle the argument once and for all.

fuck all y'all. I thought it was funny. hmph.

and you guys, if you want to see an actual not-funny show go watch GCB.

Peppermint Patty Hearst (VegemiteGrrl), Friday, 16 March 2012 16:29 (fourteen years ago)

I hope Community calls out ABC jacking their use of the initial "B"

da croupier, Friday, 16 March 2012 16:31 (fourteen years ago)

I think the story was shitty. Make shift sitcom wedding is a crappy cliche and the husband came off as a dick you wouldn't want to be happy for. Britta's part didn't really make sense but was pulled off well enough that I didn't care. Jeff's part seemed badly written. Annie just seemed a device. Abed, Troy and Pierce were funny but didn't add anything to the story.

Oh and the end was that awful thing I hate. 'Piece turns on machine, freaks out when all he has to do is turn it off' just pisses me off for a show that treats the audience as having a brain cell.

---

I recently read the av club rundown w/ harmon talking about every season 2 episode. and he hates and is disappointed with 'normal' episodes that are just shitty sitcom tropes that don't fit community and that they have proved themselves to be better than. In particular he hated the 'jeff hates pierce because he can get laid and jeff can't' one. This seemed like that. None of Jeff's growth over 2 and a half years mattered, he falls apart straight away. Second marriage in which the groom learns he needs to be less of a dick to his housewife was done by the simpsons better, over a decade ago. Crazily, this episode added absolutely nothing to Shirley's character.

If it didn't have some A+ jokes this might have been my least favourite episode.

Another thing to give me hope though was the shitty 'normal' episodes in S2 were put in place to distract the network and keep them happy while they did stuff like My Dinner w/ Abed and stuff. So hopefully this wasn't Dan Harmon selling out his principles for a 4th season of mediocrity and stale tropes and instead means he's selling out some principles to go out with a bang.

Crazily, this episode added absolutely nothing to Shirley's character.

I completely disagree with this, btw. I think showed a lot of growth in terms of how she wants to be successful! It was kind of an important turning point in her development this season.

stan this sick bunt (jon /via/ chi 2.0), Friday, 16 March 2012 16:34 (fourteen years ago)

The weirdness thing was funny, but I feel like they underused it. The whole restaurant plot was supremely boring.

Emperor Cos Dashit (Adam Bruneau), Friday, 16 March 2012 16:36 (fourteen years ago)

Like seriously, from that whole group, no-one felt to pipe up when he was all 'be a housewife, woman!'? I hate confrontation and even I would have something to say if my friend was hanging with someone like that, let alone marrying into it.

a hoy hoy, Friday, 16 March 2012 16:36 (fourteen years ago)

Maybe my favorite throwaway joke in the episode was during Shirley and Pierce's presentation to the dean, and the little dean cartoon appeared and Jim Rash says "THAT'S ME!"

Johnny Fever, Friday, 16 March 2012 16:36 (fourteen years ago)

that was awesome
