Just finished Book 2 - whew. Was afraid I'd procrastinate right past the new tv season start.

Would this be a bad time to let you know some stuff from book 3 is expected to be in Season 2 of the tv show?

They're going to need to spread the SoS material around a bit, so freaking much going on in that book.

surely they have enough stuff from book 2 to squeeze in to 10 episodes without taking anything from 3?

They don't want characters to be absent for long stretches like they are in the books, especially as events happen simultaneously.

trying to avoid spoilers obviously but i didn't think that started happening til much later

It amplifies later but is happening a bit in book 2

not a bad time at all since I purchased Book 3 as soon as I finished Book 2, I am underway. And more motivated, I might be able to blow it out before tv starts if I put my nose to the grindstone

Are you finding them a slog? I breezed through both 2 and 3 in about a week each, about to start 4.

no I just fell off the wagon with reading in general lately, through sheer laziness. I love the books so far, the end of book 2 made me v teary

Btw, just finished episode 8 of my rewatch, and everything the Greatjon sez is so much lolz.

I can't afford the blu-rays (;_;), so I'm rewatching on HBOGO with the interactive features, and everytime there's a little video of Martin explaining some family history I can't help but lol.

I mean, incredibly well thought out backstories - even if I have issues with his take on chivalry - but you know...nerd expounding on his world like its real.

will add that I never really appreciated Arya and Ned's relationship, but it might be my favourite on this rewatch. "What were you doing in the dungeon?" "...chasing cats."

Ned and Arya together were so great...his fake-disapproval of her behaviour when he saw so much of himself in her, it was beautiful

Reminds me of Atticus & Scout in To Kill A Mockingbird, ie Peck and Badham in the movie.

I'm finding Feast for Crows a bit slow so far after the insanity of SoS.

uh, i knew there were gonna be dragons, just didn't need to spend the next seven episodes waiting for dragons to show up

Book 1 and S1 are essentially exactly the same, except the book has more background detail, lots of extended scenes etc. But I still really enjoyed reading the book despite having seen the show relatively shortly before. You also get more insight into the characters' thoughts and motivations.

I ain't got no dough so I've been watching the episodes online with the interactive features. It explains loads of little things about the histories that I didn't know. I'll be the Blu is stacked with that shit.

The idea of a commentary track done by the kids is delightful but I am not looking forward to their analyses of the various sexposition scenes.

ya same feeling here... it's taking me a lot more time to go through Feast for Crows than it took to read the previous three. the focus is really too much on characters i don't really care about i guess.
