I know it looks weird when you see it all written out like that, but all of these plot threads work surprisingly well in context. Once you get to the point in season 2 when Walt enters the VR universe and creates his current vegetable-based body, all of these seemingly disparate elements start effortlessly gliding into place.

I will say, though, that the episode done entirely in semaphore was maddening.

Classic bottle episode. Gilligan said it was to save money on dialogue sound recording. If so it's brilliant.

tbf, Cranston and Gunn were masterful during the sex scene. It was like colorguard porn.

Though I felt it jumped the shark when Walt jnr started writing a TV script about his family which was basically over-signalling 'and that is what you have just watched'. You can get too pomo and navel-gazey.

I love how when Hank is a badass he's a science badass. At least, so far . . .

It occurs to me that there actually are some plot points which look almost as insane on paper as those we've delineated in recent posts. Like how Walt basically caused that ***** to ***** at the end of season 2?

@ENBB -- yup. it was essentially why I showed up an hour later than usual to work for like a period of two weeks, cuz I'd literally watch eps until A. my eyelids got heavy or b. the clock said 2 am.

the day taht I got to the last episode I actually couldn't sleep cuz i was excited to wake up and watch it but wanted to make sure I was well-rested

ha, this is one of the only shows that i'm really into and WON'T watch obsessively - there was always a terrible sense of dread going into each new episode, i would put off seeing the latest one for like 2 weeks sometimes.

I finished the last episode of s3 at about 1 AM with work the next day. Was so pumped up after I had to get out of bed and pace around the house for about an hour.

I let out a little excited squeal after the second to last ep of season 3. was glad nobody heard it cuz it sounded like a dying mouse

Yeah, I am sure I have mentioned on this thread how I would watch some episodes from another room, peeking around the corner at the TV. It was too intense for direct input.

yeah there's just so much tension in this show that watching more than 2 episodes in a row would just be too exhausting

I was shocked to discover that Walt, Jr. had been faking his disability all this time to cover up the fact that he had mutant superpowers.

Well, let's not exaggerate too much. They aren't mutant powers per se, as they developed after Walt, Jr. tried some of the radioactive meth Walt cooked up for the C.H.U.D.s who saved him from Tezcatlipoca's panther men.

the whole airplane bit in S2 drags it down for me

amazed by how much is packed into the last 2 eps of S3, when I rewatched them it felt like a season's worth of stuff was jammed in there. final scene of S3 is the moral black hole of the entire series.

I didn't mind the airplane stuff.

Really find it confounding just how much BB fans hate the end of S2. It was a little bit of a cop-out after all the pre-credit teases, but I still think it was in line with the show's overall theme of consequence.

Not that it can even hope to compare, of course, to the last shot of S3, which is all-time.

Only three eps into S4 and there's a lot of plant, but so far middling payoff. I'm sorry, but I wanted Marie to be collateral damage two seasons ago, and now she's back on the klepto kick? Zzzzzzz.
