If Everton can beat Spurs next, Liverpool-Everton on Tuesday night will be a straight fight for seventh.

Ismael Klata, Saturday, 10 March 2012 16:54 (fourteen years ago)

explain the scouse mafia out thing plz

a hoy hoy, Saturday, 10 March 2012 17:03 (fourteen years ago)

Steve Morgan is from Liverpool anyway. I'm sure he has friends.

Number None, Saturday, 10 March 2012 17:12 (fourteen years ago)

Three losses in a row for the first time since 2003 apparently - that doesn't sound right.

Ismael Klata, Saturday, 10 March 2012 17:15 (fourteen years ago)

^ reference to newcastle's anti mike ashley's protest surely

kid steel (cajunsunday), Saturday, 10 March 2012 17:43 (fourteen years ago)

well yeah

Number None, Saturday, 10 March 2012 17:50 (fourteen years ago)

1-0 everton. kaboul lets osman (?) get past him far too easily, squared for jelavic who scores on his goodison debut.

mizzell, Saturday, 10 March 2012 18:00 (fourteen years ago)

Spurs apparently haven't lost three in a row since the glory days of Juande Ramos.

Une semaine de Bunty (ShariVari), Saturday, 10 March 2012 18:01 (fourteen years ago)

can't imagine a team worse at set plays than spurs right now.

mizzell, Saturday, 10 March 2012 18:55 (fourteen years ago)

hmm, walker gets away with a kick out, so he might be banned for a few games

mizzell, Saturday, 10 March 2012 19:20 (fourteen years ago)

sahahahaha

nortei nortey (cozen), Saturday, 10 March 2012 19:24 (fourteen years ago)

happy st teeteringham's day

nortei nortey (cozen), Saturday, 10 March 2012 19:27 (fourteen years ago)

Decent effort by Spiders at the end there but they looked a bit toothless ultimately. Everton are effective though - wouldn't want to be a team on a poor run facing them at the moment.

Ismael Klata, Saturday, 10 March 2012 19:28 (fourteen years ago)

the end was pretty entertaining in a frantic, nervous laughter kind of way

mizzell, Saturday, 10 March 2012 19:33 (fourteen years ago)

Jeez, if Liverpool lose on Tuesday we could in theory be bottom half of the table by the time we play again.

Ismael Klata, Saturday, 10 March 2012 19:39 (fourteen years ago)

Time to jump ship, IK. Come over to the dark side.

Ismael's joke apostasy is one of my favorite things about ILF in 2012.

boxall, Saturday, 10 March 2012 20:11 (fourteen years ago)

comparing Liverpool this season and last

2010/11 6th 39 points 11 wins 35 goals

2011/12 7th 39 points 10 wins 30 goals

Number None, Saturday, 10 March 2012 20:39 (fourteen years ago)

30 goals?! I hadn't noticed it was anything like that bad.

Ismael Klata, Saturday, 10 March 2012 20:53 (fourteen years ago)

15 home, 15 away

Number None, Saturday, 10 March 2012 20:54 (fourteen years ago)

at least their shitness is symmetrical

Number None, Saturday, 10 March 2012 21:01 (fourteen years ago)

Van Persie has 30 goals in all competitions this year, same number as Liverpool in the league.

wmlynch, Saturday, 10 March 2012 23:08 (fourteen years ago)

If only he could read.

James Mitchell, Sunday, 11 March 2012 08:49 (fourteen years ago)

Harry must stay, surely?

This piece on Villas Boas is good on the dysfunctionality at Chelsea, and where loyalties lie. The summer there is going to be fascinating, especially as I can't think who might actually end up in the job. Rafa really does seem like the obvious candidate now.

Ismael Klata, Sunday, 11 March 2012 08:55 (fourteen years ago)

wishful thinking from a scarred Liverpool fan?

stay in school if you want to kiw (Gukbe), Sunday, 11 March 2012 08:56 (fourteen years ago)

Maybe. He'd be a poor fit for the other half of what Abramovich wants to achieve, other than being great at knock outs, but he'd be good for cutting out the dead wood. I had been coming round to the idea of his having another go at Anfield, but he can't wait around forever and there aren't many other elite candidates for the Chelsea job. Capello would be an even less attractive option you'd think.

Ismael Klata, Sunday, 11 March 2012 09:33 (fourteen years ago)

Villas-Boas knew he was running out of time but although the decision to sack him was made within minutes of the match ending at the Hawthorns last weekend, Roman Abramovich agonised until the early hours of Sunday morning about whether he should give the young Portuguese, whom he admired and liked, one more game.

Abramovich had been agonising for weeks, ever since he turned up unannounced at the training ground to observe the manager at work and gauge the mood in the camp. Chelsea went on to throw away a three-goal lead against Manchester United and lose miserably to Everton on Feb 11. Abramovich changed his mind that evening. He decided that maybe, as some in his so-called 'golden circle’ had been arguing since the international break in early September, Villas-Boas could not carry on.

Pure fiction? No one knows what Abramovich thinks about anything.

Rafa for Spurs obv. Reckon its a better 'project' for him.

He's got a twitch. If Wenger behaved like that it would be back page news.

James Mitchell, Sunday, 11 March 2012 09:50 (fourteen years ago)

gotta be dalglish out, don't know a liverpool fan who thinks differently. the whole "he can't be sacked" thing is just from your ilx-style "i fear my shoes are developing a sense of entitlement" person. obv there's a hardcore in liverpool who might disagree but i foresee no controversy in the forthcoming shuffle upstairs with "i did a job for the club when they needed me".

just please, no rafa. they have the money and imo aren't miles off having the players to do well.

i've thought all along he'd be shoved into a Director of Football type position soon enough. his appointment always felt like a placeholder, tho a placeholder was probably v. necessary at the time.

Haha what are you talking about?! I did think that tbf (and about Kenny, not the shoes) until Fenway eventually stepped in over the handshake thing. Now I agree with nv though, paradoxically, I think he's got to win the FA Cup for it to happen, because it'd be a nightmare to have him upstairs feeling like he's got unfinished business. Fortunately, he will.

Ismael Klata, Sunday, 11 March 2012 11:06 (fourteen years ago)

The only silver lining to yesterday

would bet my house on liverpool losing this

tbh I think Dalglish probably has enough humility and enough love for the club that he'll happily step aside when the appropriate time comes
