Hey, how was Aida?

Amazing. Hui He is an incredible soprano, maybe the best I've seen. I don't think I've ever reacted as strongly and emotionally to a performance as I did to hers. Visually, it was spectacular. I mean, Aida is written to be a spectacle but it's one thing to say that and another thing to be in the room with it. Verdi is my homeboy anyway, and Aida is totally a greatest hit, but dang, seeing it really hammers home that sometimes things are favorites because they are just that good.

Nice nice nice.

Daylight savings time starts this Sunday. Glad I don't live in one of those states that doesn't observe it. I wish it was DST all year long.

Michigan Ave. is a MADHOUSE. Besides the pedestrian-choked sidewalks, there were a bunch of ambulances and a minivan w/ loudspeakers on the outside that kept making the rounds blaring what was presumably apocalyptic messages in what was presumably Korean, based on the writing on the outside in English and Korean.

It sounded like Blade Runner out there.

The people in the coach house behind our next door neighbor's house have a giant confederate flag hanging n the window. :(

Courtney and I saw Silent House and it was tense and scary and quite a bit better than expected. And it was interesting but I don't want to say more b/c spoilers. Jenny, I think you will like it.

And it stars Elizabeth Olsen, which is nice. I like looking at her.

Know what's not neat? Finding out that these RSVPs often disappear so quickly that no one who reads the article/blog post/whatever could possibly have a chance of actually going to the event. I was looking forward to it and I had no chance ;_;

t0dd sw1ss tweeted that he was at the show and it was totally totally packed, i guess it was higher-demand than i would have thought

I figured that getting in would require advance notice, so I added lampo on fb so I can join the elite squad that actually gets into events like this.

Today so far at work: some of the lights went out, all of the lights went out, the Internet went out, all of the lights came back on, the Internet came back, some of the lights went out again.

Also there is a rally in support of Rod Blagojevich on Wednesday if anybohahahahahahaha I can even finish that sentence.
