Assists only count for teams capable of scoring from them.

Ismael Klata, Thursday, 8 March 2012 15:53 (fourteen years ago)

3 of Nasri's 7 assists in one match (Spurs in August). He's looked decent when I've seen him but feels maybe a bit redundant when both Silva and Aguero are playing.

boxall, Thursday, 8 March 2012 15:55 (fourteen years ago)

in that squad you're bound to have a bunch of guys who are perfectly capable players who aren't gonna get that many games

After Newcastle's game at home to Blackpool, Blackpool manager Ian Holloway described Carroll as the best striker in the Premier League.[54]

The term “hipster racism” from Carmen Van Kerckhove at Racialicious (nakhchivan), Thursday, 8 March 2012 15:56 (fourteen years ago)

Holloway was a long way over the shark by this point

Nultified Ancients of Man U (Noodle Vague), Thursday, 8 March 2012 15:57 (fourteen years ago)

Nasri was bought partly to stop him going to United, wasn't he? I'd imagine he'd have been worth a few points to them over the course of the season so it's money well spent for City.

Mohombi Khush Hua (ShariVari), Thursday, 8 March 2012 16:01 (fourteen years ago)

like he would have got in the team ahead of Giggs

Number None, Thursday, 8 March 2012 16:03 (fourteen years ago)

Nasri's been okay I think. Hardly what I'd call a massive transfer clanger anyway.

pandemic, Thursday, 8 March 2012 16:05 (fourteen years ago)

if they'd spent the money on Nasri they mightn't've been able to afford Giggs' monkey gland therapy

Nultified Ancients of Man U (Noodle Vague), Thursday, 8 March 2012 16:05 (fourteen years ago)

So, Podolski to Arsenal in the summer.

Sick Mouthy (Scik Mouthy), Thursday, 8 March 2012 16:15 (fourteen years ago)

Wenger finally sorting those defensive frailties out

Nultified Ancients of Man U (Noodle Vague), Thursday, 8 March 2012 16:17 (fourteen years ago)

just a shame there will no longer be a van persie to score goals at the other end

Rosie 47 (ken c), Thursday, 8 March 2012 16:48 (fourteen years ago)

Yuh, I'd like to seem him as partner, but he's plainly replacement.

Ismael Klata, Thursday, 8 March 2012 16:52 (fourteen years ago)

Rumour is that RVP has told Wenger to prove to him before the summer that it is worth staying, thus why we are buying players in March (this is crazy when you remember that Wenger is def. a 'wait till last week of August - when the season is a month old - and see if any bargains are around and if not just play the kids' type). Podolski is the first for good reason though, because RVP is blatently gonna fuck off anyway.

a hoy hoy, Thursday, 8 March 2012 16:56 (fourteen years ago)

if he is a replacement, it's a pretty good move by Wenger getting him in this early before they pocket a load of cash for Van Persie and the price of their targets gets stupidly high

Number None, Thursday, 8 March 2012 16:58 (fourteen years ago)

Podolski's not really a #9 is he?

mizzell, Thursday, 8 March 2012 16:58 (fourteen years ago)

thought he was more of a wing forward tbh

Number None, Thursday, 8 March 2012 16:59 (fourteen years ago)

striker for club, wing forward for country.

a hoy hoy, Thursday, 8 March 2012 17:00 (fourteen years ago)

wiki says he has scored 16 in 20 this season. wasn't excited until i saw that.

a hoy hoy, Thursday, 8 March 2012 17:02 (fourteen years ago)

it's his highest scoring season ever though i believe

Number None, Thursday, 8 March 2012 17:03 (fourteen years ago)

well yeah i thought he was the type to get 3 a season and then sulk that everyone around him wasnt working hard enough

a hoy hoy, Thursday, 8 March 2012 17:05 (fourteen years ago)

think he typically plays behind Novakovic for Koln.
also saw a story that robben would be available for 10M. Podolski, RVP, Robben front three would be pretty good.

mizzell, Thursday, 8 March 2012 17:09 (fourteen years ago)

has some serious injury potential

a hoy hoy, Thursday, 8 March 2012 17:10 (fourteen years ago)

it is arsenal!

mizzell, Thursday, 8 March 2012 17:10 (fourteen years ago)

do robben and van persie hate each other? can never remember which dutch players don't get along.

mizzell, Thursday, 8 March 2012 17:11 (fourteen years ago)

They all hate each other.

Ismael Klata, Thursday, 8 March 2012 17:14 (fourteen years ago)

nah they seem to get along quite well

Rosie 47 (ken c), Thursday, 8 March 2012 17:14 (fourteen years ago)

Robben for 10m is an incredible bargain, even with his injury record

Number None, Thursday, 8 March 2012 17:16 (fourteen years ago)

It's Sneijder who doesn't get on with RVP iirc.

boxall, Thursday, 8 March 2012 17:21 (fourteen years ago)

number none i think 10m is a rounded figure, much like robben

Rosie 47 (ken c), Thursday, 8 March 2012 17:25 (fourteen years ago)

think robben has a year left on his contract in June. Bayern have bought Shiquiri, and the rest of the team supposedly hate Robben so he probably will be available.

Podolski even scored with a v good header at the weekend!! That Koln team is dire though.

pandemic, Thursday, 8 March 2012 17:29 (fourteen years ago)

I'd take him as an Owen replacement at Utd

Number None, Thursday, 8 March 2012 17:29 (fourteen years ago)

robben, rvp, podolski would be a v cool front three who all use their left foots only. Wonder if the Emirates pitch would have a lean on it by the end of the season?

pandemic, Thursday, 8 March 2012 17:30 (fourteen years ago)

There's an interesting bit in RED where Gary Neville maintains that the pitch at St James' Park has a significant slope to it. I'd never heard it before but having googled it, it does seem to be a fairly widespread belief

Number None, Thursday, 8 March 2012 17:36 (fourteen years ago)

rvp is two footed, post-training his chocolate leg meme.

Situated on a small hill overlooking the city and part of the historic Town Moor owned by the Freemen of the City - which further complicated any development proposals - St James Park is very close to the spot of the city's execution gallows, the last hanging taking place in 1844, less than 40 years before football was first played in the vicinity.

Back in Victorian Tyneside, St James Park was barely a rough patch of grazing land and had a notorious slope, a drop of fully 18 feet from the north to south goal. Local butchers could still graze their animals on the pitch before being led to slaughter!

Steve Bruce said Wolves gave him a strong indication that he was going to fill the vacant manager's position before a late change of mind.

The 51-year-old was given a second interview, and believed the deal would be formalised the following morning, but missed out to Terry Connor.

"That was the plan," he told BBC Radio 5 live's Pat Murphy.

"At one stage I was close, but it wasn't to be. It's their prerogative."

Steve Bruce on BBC Radio 5 live

After an initial meeting with chief executive Jez Moxey and owner Steve Morgan, Bruce was expecting to seal the deal: "When I left the conversation on Thursday, by all intents and purposes, it was to have another conversation on the Friday.

"I said to my good lady I thought I was back to work. Unfortunately, it didn't happen. I'm disappointed."

I'm going to allow this! (LocalGarda), Thursday, 8 March 2012 21:05 (fourteen years ago)

Asked if he feared Saha's return, Moyes replied: "No because I think I've got an agreement with Harry that he doesn't play. Louis doesn't play unless Tottenham have got lots of injuries. Next question please!"

Moyes may want to check his facts with Redknapp though, who confirmed on Friday that Saha "is available" and "is looking forward to playing".

mizzell, Friday, 9 March 2012 15:32 (fourteen years ago)

He's just goading 'arry into a tactical error imo, Spurs look better with one up top.

boxall, Friday, 9 March 2012 15:34 (fourteen years ago)

such an 'agreement' is in breach of premier league rules anyway iirc

pandemic, Friday, 9 March 2012 15:36 (fourteen years ago)

yeah that's bizarre

Number None, Friday, 9 March 2012 15:39 (fourteen years ago)

moyes has an answer for that

"If you're a gentleman it's allowed isn't it?" Moyes said. "Gentlemen shake hands and do things some times. But if he needs him, he'll play."

xp

mizzell, Friday, 9 March 2012 15:39 (fourteen years ago)

not really answer though is it?

pandemic, Friday, 9 March 2012 15:40 (fourteen years ago)

wonder what else is allowed if you're a gentlemen? Not that there's many in the Prem.
Diving okay if you're a 'nice fella'

pandemic, Friday, 9 March 2012 15:41 (fourteen years ago)

you're allowed to receive tax free payments into an overseas bank account in your dog's name iirc

Nultified Ancients of Man U (Noodle Vague), Friday, 9 March 2012 15:49 (fourteen years ago)

michael dawson is injured, anyway

Rosie 47 (ken c), Friday, 9 March 2012 16:08 (fourteen years ago)

Rafa making his pitch for the Chelsea job on Football Focus right now.

Ismael Klata, Saturday, 10 March 2012 12:40 (fourteen years ago)

Oh man! A yard over the line and not given.
