I inadvertently saw all of the game over my friend's shoulder while talking to her about family issues in a pub in Fitzrovia. Increasingly predisposed towards Pearce as manja except that won't upset any Spurs fans so nah.

loved that Robben goal

now Huntelaar's just scored - is he unconscious? he appears to have a chunk of turf in his mouth.

boxall, Thursday, 1 March 2012 02:14 (fourteen years ago)

Smalling got the worst of it

Number None, Thursday, 1 March 2012 02:15 (fourteen years ago)

I've no sympathy, he was never going to reach that cross and he still threw his skull at it.

boxall, Thursday, 1 March 2012 02:22 (fourteen years ago)

probably learned that move from Terry

Number None, Thursday, 1 March 2012 02:23 (fourteen years ago)

now I'm hearing KJH got concussed, nose broken, & lost multiple teeth, poor Smalling if he really came off worse!

boxall, Thursday, 1 March 2012 03:23 (fourteen years ago)

Damn, Smalling seemed worse at the time but that's nasty. Anyway, today's important news - the European Court of Justice has ruled that fixture lists can no longer be copyrighted

Number None, Thursday, 1 March 2012 11:36 (fourteen years ago)

*fires up the presses*

jabba hands, Thursday, 1 March 2012 11:50 (fourteen years ago)

Tough break for the EPL, having to put up with being advertised for free from now on.

Ismael Klata, Thursday, 1 March 2012 12:07 (fourteen years ago)

d/ling to kindle right now so awesome

Streep? That's where I'm a-striking! (darraghmac), Thursday, 1 March 2012 12:11 (fourteen years ago)

Apparently the entire fixture list was £3,931. What a racket

FFS. Liverpool need to fire their entire PR department immediately.

Homosexual Satan Wasp (Matt DC), Thursday, 1 March 2012 14:09 (fourteen years ago)

Saw the article yesterday so I assume they'll all be wearing Pepe t-shirts this weekend

FPocalypto! (Noodle Vague), Thursday, 1 March 2012 14:11 (fourteen years ago)

Surprised Spain's second choice keeper would get to appear in TV ads

Charles Kennedy Jumped Up, He Called 'Oh No'. (Tom D.), Thursday, 1 March 2012 14:13 (fourteen years ago)

Not sure that what he did is considered racist where he comes from.

James Mitchell, Thursday, 1 March 2012 14:18 (fourteen years ago)

I think Suarez tried that one. I'm sure it isn't btw.

Charles Kennedy Jumped Up, He Called 'Oh No'. (Tom D.), Thursday, 1 March 2012 14:20 (fourteen years ago)

tbf blacking up and making monkey chants doesn't appear to be considered racist where he comes from

FPocalypto! (Noodle Vague), Thursday, 1 March 2012 14:21 (fourteen years ago)

I'm going there next weekend, when in Rome?

Charles Kennedy Jumped Up, He Called 'Oh No'. (Tom D.), Thursday, 1 March 2012 14:22 (fourteen years ago)

Agger's injured (broken ribs) So Carragher in line to start against Arsenal at the weekend. Great.

Where the hell is Coates?

still don't get that reina ad. oh look a bandwagon.

Chris, Thursday, 1 March 2012 14:47 (fourteen years ago)

Liverpool player or otherwise, you really don't get why it might be seen as racist? Really?

Homosexual Satan Wasp (Matt DC), Thursday, 1 March 2012 15:13 (fourteen years ago)

Red tinted specs

Charles Kennedy Jumped Up, He Called 'Oh No'. (Tom D.), Thursday, 1 March 2012 15:14 (fourteen years ago)

englighten me

Chris, Thursday, 1 March 2012 15:41 (fourteen years ago)

enlighten even

Chris, Thursday, 1 March 2012 15:42 (fourteen years ago)

Because it's a lol-African tribe with a lol-African chief straight out of Tintin In The Congo who just happens to a raging homosexual (lolz!)

Or maybe it's just because people hate Liverpool and want them to suffer.

Homosexual Satan Wasp (Matt DC), Thursday, 1 March 2012 15:43 (fourteen years ago)

I mean it's stretching it a bit to blame Liverpool for the content of the advert but you'd hope that Reina's agent or someone at Liverpool able to veto this would have had the good sense to go "this is a really bad idea, don't do it".

Homosexual Satan Wasp (Matt DC), Thursday, 1 March 2012 15:45 (fourteen years ago)

would they have even been aware of it though?

Number None, Thursday, 1 March 2012 15:46 (fourteen years ago)

I suppose, tbf to Spanish advertisers, that making him gay and not a cannibal represents some sort of softening in Spanish attitudes to face and sexuality

Charles Kennedy Jumped Up, He Called 'Oh No'. (Tom D.), Thursday, 1 March 2012 15:46 (fourteen years ago)

... that's race and sexuality of course

Charles Kennedy Jumped Up, He Called 'Oh No'. (Tom D.), Thursday, 1 March 2012 15:47 (fourteen years ago)

David Luiz tells Lampard to obey Villas-Boas

The actual story's a bit dull - footballer tells newspaper that manager picks team - but that tagline pleases me

Ismael Klata, Thursday, 1 March 2012 18:58 (fourteen years ago)

still don't get that reina ad. oh look a bandwagon.

^same guy didn't get how repeatedly using the n word in an argument with a black man might be a bit off iirc
idk maybe you could tell us all how portraying black africans as a bunch of scary tribal savages is a term of affection in spain. either that or stop being an apologist for this shite

A BIG JOE JORDAN TYPE OF POSTER (onimo), Thursday, 1 March 2012 20:51 (fourteen years ago)

Enough of that, Football Weekly drops the bombshell that Rafa actually was offered the Chelsea job last week and turned it down.

Ismael Klata, Thursday, 1 March 2012 20:55 (fourteen years ago)

thank you for that name btw omino. i forgot to use it but it still needed to go somewhere.

Rafa's a true scouser. Like he would manage Chelsea

Number None, Thursday, 1 March 2012 21:04 (fourteen years ago)

Heard his requirements included the money for just four or five new signings.

Think you'll find I said I can understand how Evra could have taken offence and that my beef was with how the FA decided this word was said 7 times. How fucking dare you suggest I'm an apologist for racism.

Chris, Thursday, 1 March 2012 22:09 (fourteen years ago)

sorry, you're an apologist for a man who used racist language between 1 and 7 times, depending on whose testimony you believe, in an argument. better?

A BIG JOE JORDAN TYPE OF POSTER (onimo), Thursday, 1 March 2012 22:54 (fourteen years ago)

"negro" is not "the n word", as much as suarez was clearly having a go at evra for his race.

zverotic discourse (jim in glasgow), Thursday, 1 March 2012 22:56 (fourteen years ago)

I'm just glad Patrice didn't riposte with, "You are guay!"

I dunno...the whole thing kind of depresses me. Let's not have a go at Chris. Valuable poster imo

I agree, just got a bee in my bonnet over this issue. Happy to drop it.

A BIG JOE JORDAN TYPE OF POSTER (onimo), Friday, 2 March 2012 09:17 (fourteen years ago)

i think chris is wrong in the assumptions he's willing to take as a starting point, and i think this is largely because of loyalty to lfc.

Doesn't make him an apologist for racism, but time and again it's been pointed out that the club's contemt for the charges and evra during the process certainly should give pause to anyone even looking to argue their side, cos shit gets blurry.

Sure, you can pick your way through the dry bones of it and emerge with an argument fit for a hearing in suarez's defence, but unfortunately it's not really a very good one according to almost everybody not already pre-disposed towards him.

I ran into this over l'affaire keysey, when i was trying to get over-complex in picking apart the issues half in ilx argument mode, half in crank dmac mode. In the heat of it, it looked v much like i was representing the monolith ppl were railing against, because that's how nitpicking/devil's advocating looks when an emotive issue arises and one side is just plain wrong.

Hope everyone calms it, ilf is the best part of a great site and regular posters to it are worth their weight in gold.

Let's have that be the last word. I'm wiping away tears

Number None, Friday, 2 March 2012 09:33 (fourteen years ago)

My default position is 'Chris we cool and I see where you are coming from, but jesus Liverpool need to sort their shit out, this
is getting ridiculous. The line shouldn't even be blurry, especially after months of potential incidents.'
