Is it time for us nerds to start anticipating THE AVENGERS, directed by Joss Whedon?

I want them to do a mo-cap movie where actors play everything, including trees and buildings. It would be so surreal to see inanimate objects imbued with human characteristics.

is the title of the movie Avengers Assemble now?

nah, Sony have the rights to Spider-Man, Fantastic 4 and X-Men. They can't use him

It still has Avengers in the title though! I don't get how that title is less confusing.

looks great! i like that they're including some of the less well-known avengers, like hawkeye and scarlett johannson.

It's lame that they went for the "kewl" Matrix style Ultimate Marvel redesign of Hawkeye's costume, though. The original costume has a classic design, all they would've needed to do was tweak the horns of the mask and the tunic, as they probably don't look that good in live action:

http://media.comicvine.com/uploads/7/72631/1434080-hawkeye_01_super.jpg

What's even lamer is that in the main Marvel continuity Hawkeye now has the same stupid Matrix costume, most likely for cross-marketing purposes.

Tuomas, Thursday, 1 March 2012 08:33 (fourteen years ago)

i agree about ultimate hawkeye being lame - thats a design thats really aged poorly - but i've always thought all his iterations were pretty lame looking. at least hes not wearing wraparound shades in this

they did go with one of the most overtly comic booky costumes ive ever seen for captain america though

Yeah, Captain America is the one example where they could've modernized the costume a bit more. His helmet is especially goofy, as it makes his head look bloated in a weird way. Maybe they should've given him a hood instead of a helmet, like in the comics?

Tuomas, Thursday, 1 March 2012 09:10 (fourteen years ago)

he sorta looks like an overgrown toddler now.

RudolfHitlerFtw (Hungry4Ass), Thursday, 1 March 2012 09:30 (fourteen years ago)

Captain America's costume looked great in his solo movie but the modern design is kind of terrrible

Number None, Thursday, 1 March 2012 10:29 (fourteen years ago)

I dunno, I thought the helmet looked goofily big in that one too. Either he should have a hood, or a helmet that doesn't cover his whole head.

Tuomas, Thursday, 1 March 2012 10:32 (fourteen years ago)

I guess the reason they didn't want to change Cap's costume too much is because he's the best known and most iconic of these characters?

Tuomas, Thursday, 1 March 2012 10:33 (fourteen years ago)

Not really! I would say the hulk by far.

drop these whiners on a island (Surviver style) (forksclovetofu), Thursday, 1 March 2012 13:38 (fourteen years ago)

the hulk doesn't really have a costume to change though

Number None, Thursday, 1 March 2012 14:06 (fourteen years ago)

That depends on how good Ruffalo looks in purple cutoffs.

A Full Torgo Apparition (Phil D.), Thursday, 1 March 2012 14:14 (fourteen years ago)

Cap. America is a strict costume constructionist. He's all about tradition.

Josh in Chicago, Thursday, 1 March 2012 14:48 (fourteen years ago)

if they kept hawkeye's loincloth it would have bene ridiculous.

A Little Princess btw (s1ocki), Thursday, 1 March 2012 15:01 (fourteen years ago)

But couldn't they find some way to obscure Renner's pudgy face?

I really don't think I should be looking at the soundtrack for a 2012 movie and thinking "the most appealing-looking song on here is the Photek remix of Evanescence"
