Buddy of mine got into the Louis CK secret show at the Improv last week. How'd he do that? Well he just showed up and paid the doorman $10. Got to meet Aziz Ansari and Elijah Wood afterwards.

we'll be at Lou on Vine a week from tonight. Reminds me, though -- we need a place to hang out at in the area before Lou opens at six, since they don't take reservations. Any recommendations?

my recommendation is to hang out in a different part of hollywood, because that stretch is a little desolate. either that or just drink at the bar until people arrive.

Dammit, all the podcasty shows I want to hit are sold out. Waiting in the airport for the flight down to Ontario now.

Had a pretty good visit today, with the exception of having to pay a few hundred bucks to prevent my rental car from getting towed in front of Meltdown Comics. Hit up an In-n-Out burger, drove around Hollywood, stopped by an old friend from Ann Arbor's vintage guitar & record shop over in Chinatown, wandering thru the mercado by there, had french dip at Philippes, and took a lot of photos.

Getting caught in Disneyland exiting traffic w/in a 1/4 mile of my hotel was not fun, tho.

yeah, disneyland is open for 24 hours during "leap day" (until 6 a.m. on thursday), so i imagine the traffic in anaheim is pretty insane right now.

Hotel is at Ball & Walnut, so it's teeth-pullingly so. Hope it filters out when I have to split for the airport in 8-ish hours.

Also - a bar that can reasonably be expected to be relatively quiet (no DJ, jukebox is fine so long as I can hear and get a seat/booth) on a weeknight around Downtown/Eastside. Tall order, I know!

Oh I like Taix, it used to be my local! And it is great so long as band is not playing.

i'm glad taix is there; put it that way. it's such a mismatch for the neighborhood that its existence is almost a punk rock gesture.

Echo Park is definitely a weirder neighborhood than you think once you get past all the surface stuff/away from Sunset
