haha, I was like, wait, what JT skits did I miss?

Gonjasufjanstephen O'Malley (jon /via/ chi 2.0), Tuesday, 21 February 2012 21:50 (fourteen years ago)

hahaha so in order to get bill o reilly on what up with that they had to promise him that he'd get to sit next to kate upton right?

illuminati girl (J0rdan S.), Tuesday, 21 February 2012 21:52 (fourteen years ago)

Or just let him plug his new book.

Gonjasufjanstephen O'Malley (jon /via/ chi 2.0), Tuesday, 21 February 2012 21:53 (fourteen years ago)

I think when Brittain bailed/got canned, they had to use Pharoah more

Still would like to know what happened there, it seems super-sketchy for someone to leave or be let go in the middle of the season like that.

Nicole, Tuesday, 21 February 2012 21:57 (fourteen years ago)

Molly Shannon and Dana Carvey both left midseason, but they were in a position to do that I guess.

Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 21 February 2012 22:02 (fourteen years ago)

no one in rehearsal was like "hey kristen... you're using the same exact voice as your character from the mystery word sketch"

illuminati girl (J0rdan S.), Tuesday, 21 February 2012 22:02 (fourteen years ago)

Its pretty obvious that Wiig just gets to do whatever she wants at this point. Like during Rudolph's monologue, there was absolutely no reason she should have been hoisted up on the shoulders of the dancers. Like, can't Rudolph just have her moment without Wiig shoehorning her way in?

She is the cast member I'm most ready to get rid of.

Gonjasufjanstephen O'Malley (jon /via/ chi 2.0), Tuesday, 21 February 2012 22:04 (fourteen years ago)

think everyone knows if kristen isn't allowed to repeat some of her stuff the show would be about 20 minutes long each week.

mizzell, Tuesday, 21 February 2012 22:05 (fourteen years ago)

I'm pretty sure I read that Brittain got an offer to do something else. Given that he and Pharaoh were probably the featured players most likely to get cut next year, he might've just figured it was a safe gamble? I'm just hypothesizing here, but I know people who know him, so maybe I'll get the real scoop sometime?

SNEEZED GOING DOWN STEPS, PAIN WHEN PUTTING SOCKS ON (Deric W. Haircare), Tuesday, 21 February 2012 22:18 (fourteen years ago)

Yeah, I keep meaning to ask my buddy.

Ascot Fitzgerald (jaymc), Tuesday, 21 February 2012 22:22 (fourteen years ago)

Is Maya's monologue online anywhere? (It's not on Hulu.)

Ascot Fitzgerald (jaymc), Tuesday, 21 February 2012 22:24 (fourteen years ago)

"never say chicken"

THE GONG!!

Peace (peaceful) (The Brainwasher), Tuesday, 21 February 2012 22:27 (fourteen years ago)

hahaha @ "Do you wanna funk"! sylvester <3

Peace (peaceful) (The Brainwasher), Tuesday, 21 February 2012 22:33 (fourteen years ago)

don't want to be that guy but if i didn't laugh during the jeremy lin sketch, bronx beat, maya angelou pranks, or the parade of 15-second impressions that was the beyonce baby sketch, am i not going to laugh during any of this? sorry, i guess i am that guy. there are some things here that are funny in an abstract way (lin voice-over, "act of whimsy,") but nothing that tempts to laugh except for armisen's prince face which is not even a joke. (and his funny faces on portlandia are much funnier)

Guayaquil (eephus!), Tuesday, 21 February 2012 23:42 (fourteen years ago)

No, you are not going to laugh during any of this.

SNEEZED GOING DOWN STEPS, PAIN WHEN PUTTING SOCKS ON (Deric W. Haircare), Tuesday, 21 February 2012 23:48 (fourteen years ago)

well you basically watched the entire episode

illuminati girl (J0rdan S.), Tuesday, 21 February 2012 23:50 (fourteen years ago)

Tbh, I didn't really laugh during Jeremy Lin or Bronx Beat, but I thought they were nicely done.

Ascot Fitzgerald (jaymc), Tuesday, 21 February 2012 23:52 (fourteen years ago)

can we get more reports on when people didn't laugh

bnw, Wednesday, 22 February 2012 00:26 (fourteen years ago)

I don't usually laugh during the musical segments, although there are exceptions.

SNEEZED GOING DOWN STEPS, PAIN WHEN PUTTING SOCKS ON (Deric W. Haircare), Wednesday, 22 February 2012 00:28 (fourteen years ago)

Has "Weird" Al ever been a musical guest?

Josh in Chicago, Wednesday, 22 February 2012 00:31 (fourteen years ago)

Trying to figure out what Sudeikis up to in each of those gifs

Sending the pitcher signals? Hard to tell, it really is.

cue "White Rabbit" (kenan), Wednesday, 22 February 2012 00:37 (fourteen years ago)

was JT really playing fingerstyle guitar? props if so

I was trying to figure this out. The camera showed his fretting hand but not his picking hand. Hmm.

Can You Please POLL Out Your Window? (James Redd and the Blecchs), Wednesday, 22 February 2012 01:55 (fourteen years ago)

It sounded pretty similar to the recorded version of "Holocene."

Ascot Fitzgerald (jaymc), Wednesday, 22 February 2012 05:40 (fourteen years ago)

Who was that girl playing Nicki Minaj bcz tha was horrible

I have one thing to say: "Roxanne Shanté" (Stevie D(eux)), Friday, 24 February 2012 14:09 (fourteen years ago)

I mean not that Maya was anything like Beyonce but at least she was rly fucking funny

I have one thing to say: "Roxanne Shanté" (Stevie D(eux)), Friday, 24 February 2012 14:11 (fourteen years ago)

Nasim Pedrad, dude.

Ascot Fitzgerald (jaymc), Friday, 24 February 2012 14:12 (fourteen years ago)

also that was hilarious

robbery by sudden snatching (DJP), Friday, 24 February 2012 14:25 (fourteen years ago)

I mean she was basically playing her as Snooki dressed in a space costume but the rap bit was a bit lol

I have one thing to say: "Roxanne Shanté" (Stevie D(eux)), Friday, 24 February 2012 14:29 (fourteen years ago)

Snooki dressed in a space costume

... how is this not an accurate description of Nicki Minaj

robbery by sudden snatching (DJP), Friday, 24 February 2012 14:31 (fourteen years ago)

"You're scaring him."
"I thought Blue Ivy was a girl?"
"No, I mean Prince."

Let A Man Come In And Do The Cop Porn (Tarfumes The Escape Goat), Friday, 24 February 2012 14:32 (fourteen years ago)

"Baby Blue Ivy, Uncle Pruhhns has brought you a gift"

I have one thing to say: "Roxanne Shanté" (Stevie D(eux)), Friday, 24 February 2012 14:34 (fourteen years ago)

Made more funny bcz the day prior my coworker and I joked abt how we should do side to side head bob + presentation arm gesture every time we answered a customer's question and then BAM Maya stole it

I have one thing to say: "Roxanne Shanté" (Stevie D(eux)), Friday, 24 February 2012 14:36 (fourteen years ago)

xpost It's really not that complicated: Sudeikis is pretending someone is pulling him by his ear.

Josh in Chicago, Friday, 24 February 2012 14:41 (fourteen years ago)

I thought Psychic Awards was funny, but man everything involving Lohan is just a travesty.

stay in school if you want to kiw (Gukbe), Sunday, 4 March 2012 05:04 (fourteen years ago)

lol'd @ the end of the scared straight sketch but lindsay was so bad in it

johnny crunch, Sunday, 4 March 2012 05:06 (fourteen years ago)

Yeah, maybe you don't want the first time you've acted/performed in years to be on live tv?

Ghost Oral (Deric W. Haircare), Sunday, 4 March 2012 05:08 (fourteen years ago)

I liked the "Real Housewives of Disney" skit with Lohan in it

curmudgeon, Monday, 5 March 2012 13:52 (fourteen years ago)

Yeah, that was prob best of the night. Of course, it was prerecorded.

Cuba Pudding, Jr. (jaymc), Monday, 5 March 2012 14:01 (fourteen years ago)

I kept wondering why Jimmy Fallon was there -- usually cameos in the monologue are a bit more purposeful than "hey, it's an ex-cast member w/no relationship to the host" -- and then I watched Thursday's episode of Late Night, in which LiLo begged Jimmy to drop by. He was like, "OK, sure, whatever."

Cuba Pudding, Jr. (jaymc), Monday, 5 March 2012 14:04 (fourteen years ago)

all i saw was the scared straight bit. it wasn't very good. the best part was sudeikis and the rest of them breaking at the end. did i miss anything?

goole, Monday, 5 March 2012 16:33 (fourteen years ago)

does jon hamm have some relationship with lohan? think the purpose of cameos is to reninforce the anything can happen vibe in order to get people to watch.

mizzell, Monday, 5 March 2012 16:35 (fourteen years ago)

maybe lorne michaels called in favors to keep the thing afloat

goole, Monday, 5 March 2012 16:37 (fourteen years ago)

The only sketch that really made me laugh was the 'weird guy by a fire' bit at the end.

Ghost Oral (Deric W. Haircare), Monday, 5 March 2012 16:40 (fourteen years ago)

Backups in case she didn't show up, or passed out backstage or something.

I Fucked Up (jer.fairall), Monday, 5 March 2012 16:41 (fourteen years ago)

otm

She was so awful in that Scared Straight skit.

stan this sick bunt (jon /via/ chi 2.0), Monday, 5 March 2012 16:51 (fourteen years ago)

She was bad...but she wasn't any worse than Channing Tatum, for example.

Respectfully, Tyrese Gibson (Nicole), Monday, 5 March 2012 17:05 (fourteen years ago)

otm, this was a better than average episode with an average (ie pretty bad) host.

mizzell, Monday, 5 March 2012 17:06 (fourteen years ago)

John Hamm is also in a new movie written and directed by his wife that also stars Kristen Wiig and Maya Rudolph. So no doubt promoting that.

I thought the episode was OK, had some good moments, but LL didn't add anything, had very few good lines and was mostly a straight-man.

dan selzer, Monday, 5 March 2012 17:07 (fourteen years ago)

so to speak.

dan selzer, Monday, 5 March 2012 17:07 (fourteen years ago)

tl dr ! ! !

but i was glad to see that lindsay lohan seemed to be in good shape. the snl writers i can only assume are in far worse shape than is she. laughed more during the blood-soaked local news preceding it
