everytime i think i fall out of love i fall right back in.

We're not quite at summer burn-off time just yet. If there are 12 episodes in the can left to air, then they wouldn't have to start airing until mid-March. I think if they start any later than that, and they don't get the finale in on time for sweeps, then NBC has probably totally given up on it.

I can see them getting rid of Chelsea, which is currently their lowest-rated sitcom and putting it on after Whitney. They probably don't want to give up on Up All Night yet, despite its inability to hold onto the declining Office ratings. If they did, I'd imagine they'd move 30 Rock to the 9:30 slot to see how it does (its a much more expensive show) and put Community back in at 8 as they seem to have a guaranteed audience that's better than 30 is doing there now.

If there is a summer burn-off, I hope it's a good one and they don't end with a cliffhanger to try to convince the network to give 'em another season.

I thought they persuaded Baldwin to stay one season more (even after him being so vocal about this being his last year), but I could be making that up.

xp I think Dan Harmon knows Community's future is walking a tightrope right now, and he kind of loves his fans, so I don't think he'd end season 3 on some kind of cliffhanger that would likely never be resolved.

Yeah, I'd hate for it to end on a cliffhanger and have the central mystery of the show go unresolved.

HOORAY!! I'm sad that Parks and Rec will have a longer than usual break between episodes as a result, but at least we'll end the season with Community, 30 Rock, and Parks and Rec all on the same night...AS GOD INTENDED.

This just made my wife's day, especially since it returns on her birthday.

Unless I'm wrong, he's the only proper improv type in the cast, isn't he? Jacobs, Pudi, YNB are all trad actors, Glover and McHale are stand-ups, not sure about Brie and Jeong.

Jeong started as a standup. Actually, he started as a doctor, and then became a standup.

Glover is an improv dude. McHale a proper actor. Both have only started doing stand up post-Community.

well, JM got into standup via The Soup a while before Community, but yeah, both those guys came to it after being on TV

Glover's not really got an improv core, he definitely came up through sketch and formal writing

McHale was doing stand-up years before Community afaik

Shirley could be an even better character if she started addressing people as "Stinker" or "my little pumpkins"

all the talk (from harmon, actors, writers, fans) about "how this episode really tells you why these people are friends" or "we really wanted to give shirley more depth this episode" etc. really kind of diminishes my enjoyment of the show. it feels like it doesn't leave any room for viewers to make heir own judgments, and anyway the "emotional" beats are generally the worst in this series. i should probably just attempt to watch it in a vacuum.

Jim Rash is a groundlings/UCB-type; I believe he taught improv there, if my FB/LJ friends are anything to go from.

One day somebody will realize that Ken Jeong is best when doing straight deadpan. I still hold that the funniest he's ever been onscreen was Knocked Up.

Actually, I don't have a problem with them explicitly breaking down the show and how they wanted the characters to work. There's something in the construction & intelligence of the show that connects to me emotionally, even with it all exposed. It's like it operates on a level where the impact of the magic trick is only heightened by showing everyone how it's done. We all know we're watching this very meticulously assembled thing, and the intelligence involved with it and what it needs from the viewers only makes us like it more.

except that it DOESN'T really seem that meticulously assembled, really, and to me that's what all the backchannels etc. reveal. i mean for all the talk they do you'd think the show would be of a bit more formal interest in terms of balancing plotlines, etc. but it's really not that much more sophisticated than a lot of other shows, except in its humor--which is what gets talked about the least, it seems.

The deleted scene with him, Katherine Heigl, and Adam Scott is insanely hilarious. Scott loses it, and Heigl sounds like she's about to hyperventilate.

Pt. 14 on the paleyfest with the spoilers bit was hilarious.
