Starts with Keane and Vieira arguing in tunnel. From 1:06 onwards: Keane, Carroll and Scholes refuse to shake Vieira's hand.

Also Gary Neville attempts a hand squeeze with growl.

ha, the Neville bit is hilarious. Especially after Keane had to step in for him

Love that. Keane always reminds me of a drunk trying to convince a nightclub bouncer that he's sober enough to be let in.

The similarity in playing position has to be something of a concern if Hazard to Spurs is actually a thing. I haven't seen Lille that much this year but every time I have seen Hazard play well for them or Belgium it's been on the left.

OTOH Bale looks pretty lethal in the center of the pitch lately.

Roy Carroll made his debut for Olympiakos this afternoon, coming off the bench to save a penalty against Rubin Kazan with his first touch. Olympiakos won 1-0 in the first leg of their Big Vase tie.

Twice in six posts, how about that. Most coverage he's had in years.

Spurs have abandoned commitments to build 100 affordable homes and spend £1.2million on school improvements as they signed a new planning agreement for their new stadium.

Amended planning proposals for the £400m Northumberland Development Project were unanimously approved by Haringey councillors at a meeting last night, after months of negotiations between the club, council, and Mayor of London’s office.

The original deal, signed with Haringey Council in 2010, included a £1.2m pledge to increase pupil capacity in Haringey and neighbouring Enfield, as well as a commitment that 50 per cent of homes built under the scheme would be affordable.

But those requirements have been deleted from the new document – officially called a section 106 agreement – with the remaining £15.5m cost of infrastructure and transport improvements passed to the council and the Mayor of London under an agreement reached last week.

Haringey Council will spend £9m on the regeneration scheme, while Boris Johnson has committed £18m – leaving Spurs with just £477,000 of planning commitments.

Club chairman Daniel Levy said he was “delighted” that the project had been approved and said he was grateful for the council’s support.

Lily white cunts indeed. Really hope NAMING RIGHTS goes for less than the £15.5mn that supposedly makes this whole deal "unviable".

terrible that we didn't become a property developer alright

how's that been working out for ye btw

beware of greek bearer bonds (darraghmac), Wednesday, 15 February 2012 11:13 (fourteen years ago)

Arsenal made hundreds of millions in profit from it.

Arsenal only had two bricks from eight acres when Arsene joined the club iirc.

James Mitchell, Wednesday, 15 February 2012 11:18 (fourteen years ago)

going well for ye then

beware of greek bearer bonds (darraghmac), Wednesday, 15 February 2012 11:19 (fourteen years ago)

Spurs only have ... half a million pounds of planning commitments?

You could almost get one of the Snodins for that in 1987. Or a Wayne Clarke / Stuart Storer double.

They're getting a new stadium for half a million pounds?

Levy really is good at this.

'goin down the emirates thursday night mate? I hear it's a fabulous social amenity that made huge profits for the shareholders?'

'nah mate, won't be going, i find the uefa cup strangely unexciting after many consecutive years of champion's league qualification and i am strangely uninterested in our new forward line of bendtner/chamakh, although i am heartily cheered by the thought that the profits from the sale of van persie has funded meals on wheels for local pensioners for the next decade. lol tottenham, eh?'

beware of greek bearer bonds (darraghmac), Wednesday, 15 February 2012 11:37 (fourteen years ago)

Would just like to know how the fuck Levy managed to get away without having to make section 106 payments when every single other development in the country has to pay them regardless of profit margins?

Also, lol tottenham.

James Mitchell, Wednesday, 15 February 2012 11:50 (fourteen years ago)

serious q for darragh et al: do you think there has been a sea change in the top four, that harry/levy have ushered in a generation of champions league football at the naming rights and feeling (lol) sorry for arsenal's inferior status?

or are you just trolling sam?

Upt0eleven, Wednesday, 15 February 2012 11:53 (fourteen years ago)

answer from Tottenham fan: no

the pinefox, Wednesday, 15 February 2012 12:14 (fourteen years ago)

no, i don't

I don't believe any club not operated as an oligarch's plaything should feel sure of frequent cl seasons. Man u are an exception due to history and an impressive and long-proven ability to generate commercial income, but any of their fans would tell you that there's questions over financing even there.

If FFP ever comes in to any real effect then spurs could be realistic long-term challengers for the top spots, i guess. Same holds true for a couple of clubs, including arsenal- who i'm a known admirer of wrt financial and strategic planning.

But clubs don't operate wholly in the long-term, i don't see any merit in exhibitions of moral disgust for our board because they're making decisions based on the best possible use of the resources available, the immediate future looks bright for us, footballing-wise we're as good as i've known and you can only beat the team put out in front of you, trevor.

Basically, as a spurs fan since 93 odd i'd be a fuckin moron to proclaim that our current position is somehow natural to us when all of my personal experience suggests that, regardless of expenditure and competition, we average about halfway down the league table.

beware of greek bearer bonds (darraghmac), Wednesday, 15 February 2012 12:27 (fourteen years ago)

Chelsea will improve again
Arsenal will improve again
they will return to top 4 sooner or later
and return us to top 5-6
esp as new stadium won't be for a while.

the odd one is Liverpool - I thought they would be above us this year but really haven't capitalized on ... anything much. Have stayed still or it feels like it. So we are still better than them in medium term, I think or hope.

they will return to top 4 sooner or later

1 Man City
2 Man Utd
3 Tottenham Hotspur
4 Arsenal

James Mitchell, Wednesday, 15 February 2012 12:46 (fourteen years ago)

the pinefox, Wednesday, 15 February 2012 12:46 (fourteen years ago)

Fuck it, I'm predicting Arsenal for 3rd!

Charles Kennedy Jumped Up, He Called 'Oh No'. (Tom D.), Wednesday, 15 February 2012 12:48 (fourteen years ago)

yes, seems likely
I have never backed Spurs for top 4
only for 5th
still think LFC 6th

the pinefox, Wednesday, 15 February 2012 12:48 (fourteen years ago)

arsenal- wenger or board holdong them back- nobody sure which imo. no reason to see a change in fortunes there while the status quo remains

spurs- will be upset by arry leaving, his replacement will determine medium-term outcome. board is exceptional, no reason to predict trouble there

utd- no reason they're top 6 imo so my analysis of them obv isn't worth much. they'll be fucked when fergie/giggs/scholes/bobby charlton go etc

city- no troubles forseeable, mancini being given time and doing well

chelsea- see above, reverse. while roman remains they won't be ruined

lfc- doing it wrong

newcastle- doing it right

beware of greek bearer bonds (darraghmac), Wednesday, 15 February 2012 12:51 (fourteen years ago)

Arsenal 'no change' still = CL every year

the pinefox, Wednesday, 15 February 2012 12:53 (fourteen years ago)

spurs will be top four this year, tbf, we could eat lasagne from here til may and there's probably none of the stragglers good enough to even catch us for third tbh.

beware of greek bearer bonds (darraghmac), Wednesday, 15 February 2012 12:54 (fourteen years ago)

otm obv

i'm actually much less concerned about the reality of dropping out of the champions league spots this year than i might have previously. partly because, within reason and man city aside, massive wealth actually seems like less of a barrier to a certain level of success at the moment than it did a few years ago. dropping out, as spurs have demonstrated, doesn't mean you're doomed to the purgatory of the europa league for the rest of your days but could just as easily return the following season.

aside from that and as i've said many times before, I don't show up (to the pub or the amirites) because I expect a win or to be playing milan every week (fuck those guys btw) but because I expect a minimum standard of quality, entertaining football, although I appreciate there's a large degree of overlap there. to the extent to which my interest this season has waned, it's down to them playing some dog-ugly football as much as not actually winning. any bitterness aimed in spurs' direction is more to do with how much nicer your football is to watch that ours, rather than the fact that you're further up the league.

still, 4th eh. never in doubt.

Upt0eleven, Wednesday, 15 February 2012 13:04 (fourteen years ago)

Upt0tm

I think next season should be a lot better. Hopefully Wilshere will be back, AOC will have fully replaced Theo and Ryooooooooo already has Bolton fans raving, so hopefully he can make the same step up that Wilshere/Sturridge did post-Bolton. Oh and to have full backs again! Theo&AA are the biggest problems in keeping us from playing nice football atm - even when they do play to a high standard, it isn't pretty.

a hoy hoy, Wednesday, 15 February 2012 13:28 (fourteen years ago)

PS I only see Newcastle as being a threat to 4th now. Chelsea look a right fucking mess at the back and the front and Liverpool just can't be taken seriously. Even if Liverpool come 4th by some miracle, I think it would have to be taken with a grain of salt. Shit I fear Sunderland more than I do Liverpool.

Monkee Trial (Nasty, Brutish & Short), Wednesday, 15 February 2012 13:32 (fourteen years ago)

Levy is a cunt for not forking out for those affordable homes, at some point ethics have to trump footballing concerns and it's clear Boris is just going to bend over backwards and offer Levy anything if it means staying in Tottenham.

If Spurs don't qualify for the CL now it will be an absolute catastrophe, so it's between Arsenal and Chelsea. If Chelsea don't qualify they can just throw money at the problem but Arsenal I think will be in trouble if they don't make it. Players will leave, they'll find it even harder to attract the right players, we could see a Liverpool situation develop. To that end I reckon Arsenal will get fourth because they need it more. That said, Chelsea have room for improvement, I think Arsenal are basically operating at maximum capacity now and they haven't been that great.

Matt DC, Wednesday, 15 February 2012 13:52 (fourteen years ago)

I mean room for improvement this season, with no transfers etc btw.

Matt DC, Wednesday, 15 February 2012 13:54 (fourteen years ago)

deems i know u love the local govt hardman stuff but u gotta admit its a bit shitty when a club that doubtless stresses its community involvement etc just takes the name of a famously deprived area and cant even spare half a bassong to actually improve it

The term “hipster racism” from Carmen Van Kerckhove at Racialicious (nakhchivan), Wednesday, 15 February 2012 14:11 (fourteen years ago)

i dunno what my 'local govt hardman' steez is, but in this case it's exactly the local govt to set stipulations in place.

If they rescinded some of their requirements because of a weakened bargaining position vis a vis the club then yeah that's a pity, just not from the club's POV- levy 's not exactly breaking role nor character there. All for the club engaging in local partnership but one of levy's roles is to keep that as cost-effective as he can, obv.

Not expecting a round of applause for it anywhere, least of all ilx, but 'cunt' it doesn't make him-imo.
