gotta look outside england. lucas barrios is way better than his playing time this season for dortmund would suggest. he might be want to move, especially since they already bought reus.

mizzell, Tuesday, 14 February 2012 01:38 (fourteen years ago)

Curbishley odds on for the Wolves job with William Hill this morning, also far and away the most popular choice in a poll at the Express and Star. I think we cd do a lot worse.

dayove cool (Noodle Vague), Tuesday, 14 February 2012 08:14 (fourteen years ago)

Hazard will follow in the great tradition of Spurs players like Rivaldo and Samuel Eto'o.

James Mitchell, Tuesday, 14 February 2012 08:37 (fourteen years ago)

Or 'arry's 'bankrupt a club then do a runner' plan is coming good again.

James Mitchell, Tuesday, 14 February 2012 08:39 (fourteen years ago)

If you overlook the management uncertainty, I reckon this Spurs team must be a pretty exciting prospect for players at the moment, if they're good enough for the first team. Probably a pretty exciting prospect for managers as well.

Matt DC, Tuesday, 14 February 2012 10:22 (fourteen years ago)

But I don't believe it and reckon he'll probably end up at City/United.

Matt DC, Tuesday, 14 February 2012 10:24 (fourteen years ago)

Yes but also with the odd feeling that so many of the players are limited and can be bettered, i.e. if you are a left back you can beat out bae and make the team better, if you are an attacking playmaker, you can put vdv on the bench etc.

a hoy hoy, Tuesday, 14 February 2012 10:25 (fourteen years ago)

utd don't buy exciting attacking midfielders, come on matt.

a hoy hoy, Tuesday, 14 February 2012 10:26 (fourteen years ago)

BAE - I can't remember where, but I saw a stat that had him something like lowest in the league for tackles while highest in the league for interceptions, i.e. his positional sense is exceptional

Ismael Klata, Tuesday, 14 February 2012 10:34 (fourteen years ago)

United are pretty damn good at buying wingers though. What's Hazard's main position for Lille?

Matt DC, Tuesday, 14 February 2012 10:42 (fourteen years ago)

lol at some amc just sauntering in and hurling vdv to the bench

Rly?

hazard not exactly 'some amc'

he is fine on the left or in the middle. when i've seen lille it is 70l/30m but considering bale is there, imma guess he'll play more in the middle. (unless bale has been sold.)

a hoy hoy, Tuesday, 14 February 2012 11:01 (fourteen years ago)

vdv is as effective & important a player as we have imo- more weighted towards effective, tbf

beware of greek bearer bonds (darraghmac), Tuesday, 14 February 2012 11:07 (fourteen years ago)

Let's not forget that Hazard's just hawking himself around, probably at the request of his agent.

Spurs haven't even wrapped up the league title yet, let alone made a bid.

Monkee Trial (Nasty, Brutish & Short), Tuesday, 14 February 2012 12:53 (fourteen years ago)

xp well tbh hazrd earns smth around 200k to 250k€ a month in lille, so 70k£/wk at tottenham would be more than what he currently gets. taking into account the fact that taxes are probably lower in england means that 70k/wk is a lot more than current wages in france.

Jibe, Tuesday, 14 February 2012 12:56 (fourteen years ago)

Starts with Keane and Vieira arguing in tunnel. From 1:06 onwards: Keane, Carroll and Scholes refuse to shake Vieira's hand.

ha, the Neville bit is hilarious. Especially after Keane had to step in for him

Love that. Keane always reminds me of a drunk trying to convince a nightclub bouncer that he's sober enough to be let in.

The similarity in playing position has to be something of a concern if Hazard to Spurs is actually a thing. I haven't seen Lille that much this year but every time I have seen Hazard play well for them or Belgium it's been on the left.

OTOH Bale looks pretty lethal in the center of the pitch lately.

boxall, Tuesday, 14 February 2012 16:43 (fourteen years ago)

Roy Carroll made his debut for Olympiakos this afternoon, coming off the bench to save a penalty against Rubin Kazan with his first touch. Olympiakos won 1-0 in the first leg of their Big Vase tie.

Twice in six posts, how about that. Most coverage he's had in years.

Spurs have abandoned commitments to build 100 affordable homes and spend £1.2million on school improvements as they signed a new planning agreement for their new stadium.

Amended planning proposals for the £400m Northumberland Development Project were unanimously approved by Haringey councillors at a meeting last night, after months of negotiations between the club, council, and Mayor of London’s office.

The original deal, signed with Haringey Council in 2010, included a £1.2m pledge to increase pupil capacity in Haringey and neighbouring Enfield, as well as a commitment that 50 per cent of homes built under the scheme would be affordable.

But those requirements have been deleted from the new document – officially called a section 106 agreement – with the remaining £15.5m cost of infrastructure and transport improvements passed to the council and the Mayor of London under an agreement reached last week.

Haringey Council will spend £9m on the regeneration scheme, while Boris Johnson has committed £18m – leaving Spurs with just £477,000 of planning commitments.

Club chairman Daniel Levy said he was “delighted” that the project had been approved and said he was grateful for the council’s support.

Lily white cunts indeed. Really hope NAMING RIGHTS goes for less than the £15.5mn that supposedly makes this whole deal "unviable".

terrible that we didn't become a property developer alright

how's that been working out for ye btw

beware of greek bearer bonds (darraghmac), Wednesday, 15 February 2012 11:13 (fourteen years ago)

Arsenal made hundreds of millions in profit from it.

Arsenal only had two bricks from eight acres when Arsene joined the club iirc.

James Mitchell, Wednesday, 15 February 2012 11:18 (fourteen years ago)

going well for ye then

beware of greek bearer bonds (darraghmac), Wednesday, 15 February 2012 11:19 (fourteen years ago)

Spurs only have ... half a million pounds of planning commitments?

You could almost get one of the Snodins for that in 1987. Or a Wayne Clarke / Stuart Storer double.

They're getting a new stadium for half a million pounds?

Levy really is good at this.

the pinefox, Wednesday, 15 February 2012 11:33 (fourteen years ago)

'goin down the emirates thursday night mate? I hear it's a fabulous social amenity that made huge profits for the shareholders?'

'nah mate, won't be going, i find the uefa cup strangely unexciting after many consecutive years of champion's league qualification and i am strangely uninterested in our new forward line of bendtner/chamakh, although i am heartily cheered by the thought that the profits from the sale of van persie has funded meals on wheels for local pensioners for the next decade. lol tottenham, eh?'

'lol tottenham'
