David O'Leary, I think, is who you want. I.e. Mick McCarthy but not.

Having checked his Wiki he appears to be available and also was born in Stoke Newington.

Upt0eleven, Monday, 13 February 2012 13:34 (fourteen years ago)

Ideally I want somebody with vision and given the time and patience to build that, tbh. I want a bit of ethos.

HE'S READY.

Matt DC, Monday, 13 February 2012 13:34 (fourteen years ago)

can O'Leary manage a club who don't want to go bankrupt?

dayove cool (Noodle Vague), Monday, 13 February 2012 13:34 (fourteen years ago)

o'leary is the biggest wanker in football mgmt, a real prick

beware of greeks bearing petrol bombs (darraghmac), Monday, 13 February 2012 13:37 (fourteen years ago)

I know. He was born in Stoke Newington.

Upt0eleven, Monday, 13 February 2012 13:38 (fourteen years ago)

He's even more long term unemployed than Curbishley

Charles Kennedy Jumped Up, He Called 'Oh No'. (Tom D.), Monday, 13 February 2012 13:41 (fourteen years ago)

maybe Capello wd like to continue working in England

dayove cool (Noodle Vague), Monday, 13 February 2012 13:44 (fourteen years ago)

alternatively this dude looks pretty ready tbh:

Upt0eleven, Monday, 13 February 2012 13:44 (fourteen years ago)

sorry.

Upt0eleven, Monday, 13 February 2012 13:45 (fourteen years ago)

my dad really rates Jewell.

i don't.

dayove cool (Noodle Vague), Monday, 13 February 2012 13:45 (fourteen years ago)

O'Leary took the traditional Leeds Legend route and went to work in the UAE for a bit. He's still in the game.

Ismael Klata, Monday, 13 February 2012 13:47 (fourteen years ago)

Lol did anyone of you thought it is going to be Van Basten to Wolves bcz he's trending?

(He's Heerenveen's new manager btw, very odd choice)

Flag post? I hardly knew her! (Le Bateau Ivre), Monday, 13 February 2012 14:00 (fourteen years ago)

hasn't Van B been a bit rubbish as a manager?

dayove cool (Noodle Vague), Monday, 13 February 2012 14:02 (fourteen years ago)

Very. And sadly he's going to my beloved regional club H'veen.

Flag post? I hardly knew her! (Le Bateau Ivre), Monday, 13 February 2012 14:03 (fourteen years ago)

they seem kinda twee

Ismael Klata, Monday, 13 February 2012 14:04 (fourteen years ago)

But I suspected him to land a high profile manager job at Chelsea or Milan or Inter or something. Feels like those clubs mostly go for a big name, rather than a good manager (AVB an exception, he's a good manager at a shite team tbh)

Flag post? I hardly knew her! (Le Bateau Ivre), Monday, 13 February 2012 14:04 (fourteen years ago)

LOL IK

Flag post? I hardly knew her! (Le Bateau Ivre), Monday, 13 February 2012 14:05 (fourteen years ago)

They're not hearts btw, but red water lilies, as represented in the Frisian flag

Flag post? I hardly knew her! (Le Bateau Ivre), Monday, 13 February 2012 14:06 (fourteen years ago)

ok i take it back water lillies are tuff

who can judge namitha (toandos), Monday, 13 February 2012 14:08 (fourteen years ago)

toandos did you post under a different name or are you new or have i just not noticed you before?

did warnock take the leeds job? he seems like an obvious choice. still waiting to see di canio be given a premiership job. curbishley was boring as tits, lets face it. steve bruce was the second worst premiership manager of the past ten years (jewell at #1).

a hoy hoy, Monday, 13 February 2012 15:54 (fourteen years ago)

there have been worse than those two. what about, say, sammy lee?

Weasel Diesel, Monday, 13 February 2012 16:05 (fourteen years ago)

jewell had the worst total of points ever

also bruce deserves it for a sustained shittiness

a hoy hoy, Monday, 13 February 2012 16:13 (fourteen years ago)

re jewell - at derby county or overall? cos to be fair to him, he did keep bradford and wigan up, and had one excellent season at wigan. his career has undoubtedly gone down the toilet since then, i agree.

Weasel Diesel, Monday, 13 February 2012 16:28 (fourteen years ago)

forgot he was at bradford. i was thinking more about having the worst season ever automatically had him #1 (but also not much thought went into it, come on.)

a hoy hoy, Monday, 13 February 2012 16:33 (fourteen years ago)

Alan Shearer.

Ismael Klata, Monday, 13 February 2012 16:37 (fourteen years ago)

dowie

beware of greeks bearing petrol bombs (darraghmac), Monday, 13 February 2012 16:52 (fourteen years ago)

avram grant's pretty crap too

Weasel Diesel, Monday, 13 February 2012 16:56 (fourteen years ago)

Hardly Paul Jewell though

Charles Kennedy Jumped Up, He Called 'Oh No'. (Tom D.), Monday, 13 February 2012 16:58 (fourteen years ago)

ya grant didn't win the league nor cl that time

beware of greeks bearing petrol bombs (darraghmac), Monday, 13 February 2012 17:06 (fourteen years ago)

grant came bottom with portsmouth and west ham - anyone inheriting that chelsea team would have done ok.

Weasel Diesel, Monday, 13 February 2012 17:18 (fourteen years ago)

lotsa managers woulda come last with those teams and done worse with chelsea

beware of greeks bearing petrol bombs (darraghmac), Monday, 13 February 2012 17:28 (fourteen years ago)

don't think any competent managers would have come last with west ham. his record with small premier league clubs is as bad as anyone's.

Weasel Diesel, Monday, 13 February 2012 17:30 (fourteen years ago)

Weasel Diesel - have you suddenly started posting again after many years or have I just not noticed you?

Monkee Trial (Nasty, Brutish & Short), Monday, 13 February 2012 17:34 (fourteen years ago)

i post very, very occasionally ;-) last time was probably after ireland qualified for euro 2012. i only get involved for huge footballing events like that, and big mick being sacked

Weasel Diesel, Monday, 13 February 2012 17:37 (fourteen years ago)

Yeah that West Ham team with competent management could have stayed up. Portsmouth something of a special case.

Matt DC, Monday, 13 February 2012 17:50 (fourteen years ago)

weasel, i want to recognise that you've a case there, before i say

rafa

beware of greeks bearing petrol bombs (darraghmac), Monday, 13 February 2012 17:59 (fourteen years ago)

That bloke that took over Charlton after Curbishley, Les something

Monkee Trial (Nasty, Brutish & Short), Monday, 13 February 2012 18:04 (fourteen years ago)

Les Reed, though wikipedia has reminded me that Dowie was there first. Reed was the second Charlton manager to get sacked in the first half of that season.

Monkee Trial (Nasty, Brutish & Short), Monday, 13 February 2012 18:06 (fourteen years ago)

how about Chris Hutchings

kid steel (cajunsunday), Monday, 13 February 2012 18:11 (fourteen years ago)

Thanks. I was going to say that bloke at Wigan who nobody had heard of, but I couldn't even remember his name when he was in the job, never mind now.

Monkee Trial (Nasty, Brutish & Short), Monday, 13 February 2012 18:13 (fourteen years ago)

Bruce 2/1 favourite with Paddy Power. sweating.

dayove cool (Noodle Vague), Monday, 13 February 2012 18:16 (fourteen years ago)

can't see it. his rep is too tarnished after the way things went at sunderland, this season particularly. fret not, nv!

Weasel Diesel, Monday, 13 February 2012 18:18 (fourteen years ago)

I'm always a bit embarrassed for clubs when they appoint the assistant manager as number 1.

kid steel (cajunsunday), Monday, 13 February 2012 18:23 (fourteen years ago)

they usually do it after the assistant gets off to a good start, when the team gets an artificial kick that a change of manager usually brings (pearce, roeder, spragia being examples)

Weasel Diesel, Monday, 13 February 2012 18:39 (fourteen years ago)

Heavy rumors (France Football, Dutch press) that Eden Hazard has agreed on terms with Spurs for a transfer next summer! Sole condition seems to be Spurs need to qualify for the CL.

Wenger won't be too pleased about all of this I think, Hazard having forever been linked to Arsenal.

Flag post? I hardly knew her! (Le Bateau Ivre), Monday, 13 February 2012 21:54 (fourteen years ago)

bale out?

beware of greeks bearing petrol bombs (darraghmac), Monday, 13 February 2012 21:55 (fourteen years ago)

bit harsh on mccarthy in terms of his overall career here. getting ireland to the world cup in 2002 was a pretty stupendous achievement, and they did well when there too.

I'm going to allow this! (LocalGarda), Monday, 13 February 2012 21:59 (fourteen years ago)

't would be the English transfer of the summer imho

Flag post? I hardly knew her! (Le Bateau Ivre), Monday, 13 February 2012 22:00 (fourteen years ago)

xp
