Doesn't count if you eat it in the shop, I thought?

Ismael Klata, Sunday, 12 February 2012 16:54 (fourteen years ago)

i aim to be a dub denizen after thursday depending on an interview, but only by location obv

Dr Frogbius (darraghmac), Sunday, 12 February 2012 17:09 (fourteen years ago)

this city has a way of changing a man...

Number None, Sunday, 12 February 2012 17:11 (fourteen years ago)

I'm there next weekend - would look you guys up but my schedule is kinda hectic so it'd just be high-fiving from a passing taxi really.

Ismael Klata, Sunday, 12 February 2012 17:14 (fourteen years ago)

thank goodness for that

Ismael Klata, Sunday, 12 February 2012 17:21 (fourteen years ago)

this is just city attacking and villa clearing it back for city to attack and so on. villa kinda deserve to lose, they look like they don't want to leave their own half.

a hoy hoy, Sunday, 12 February 2012 17:21 (fourteen years ago)

ah lescott goes and does it. hopefully this makes villa try and do ANYTHING

a hoy hoy, Sunday, 12 February 2012 17:21 (fourteen years ago)

Annoying the way Bloodzeed is always a little behind. Paying for the quality i suppose

Number None, Sunday, 12 February 2012 17:22 (fourteen years ago)

i've got a real sense of entitlement about my illegal streaming services

Number None, Sunday, 12 February 2012 17:24 (fourteen years ago)

I've been using this thing called 'radio' today, kind of impressed with the speed tbh

Ismael Klata, Sunday, 12 February 2012 17:27 (fourteen years ago)

This "well he may be a racist but look at the bad shit these other guys did" is inane.

Rampant homophobia at every level of the game is a serious issue (my guess is that if you polled every Premiership manager and got them to speak with absolute honesty you'd get more homophobes than not) but a lame rhetorical device to some how level the playing field with Suarez. Face it, they're all cunts, so unfair to pick on Suarez etc etc.

nobody is saying this. and if you can't see the diff between "if you polled every manager" and actually on the record homophobia then kind of amazing we're even having this discussion. someone's private views or thoughts are not a crime thankfully.

I'm going to allow this! (LocalGarda), Sunday, 12 February 2012 17:34 (fourteen years ago)

Great chance there for a totally unmerited draw

...and again...

Monkee Trial (Nasty, Brutish & Short), Sunday, 12 February 2012 17:50 (fourteen years ago)

McLeish is just fuckin trolling everyone watching this match

MPx4A, Sunday, 12 February 2012 17:52 (fourteen years ago)

Big win for City. They sound in decent form yet unconvincing. I've been assuming Yaya Toure coming back would sort things out, but I'm kind of nervous for them tbh.

Ismael Klata, Sunday, 12 February 2012 17:57 (fourteen years ago)

City were pretty rubbish really. The second Villa started trying they had two brilliant chances

Number None, Sunday, 12 February 2012 17:58 (fourteen years ago)

I wish Spurs were 2nd, I'd enjoy this scenario a lot more.

Ismael Klata, Sunday, 12 February 2012 17:59 (fourteen years ago)

otm obv

i am trying to limit ilxing from today onwards, but i'm prob gonna exclude ilf from that, inc this thread too tbf.

Are there others do that? Do we have footy-only posters?

Dr Frogbius (darraghmac), Sunday, 12 February 2012 18:13 (fourteen years ago)

Me, I guess. Mostly because I have social circles to discuss music/books/food/racism but no IRL ILF equivalent sadly.

boxall, Sunday, 12 February 2012 18:15 (fourteen years ago)

heh i'm maybe the opposite but am kinda sick of discussion of some of those things lol too long on ilx

Tho iirc sexism/racism may have been raised itt bytimes, and roy keane's writing.

Dr Frogbius (darraghmac), Sunday, 12 February 2012 18:18 (fourteen years ago)

and thudd's eating habits and baines's musical tastes.

Thread otm

Dr Frogbius (darraghmac), Sunday, 12 February 2012 18:20 (fourteen years ago)

me at the moment for some inexplicable reason

(tho i did post "the thing as remade by pingu" on "the thing" thread)

mark s, Sunday, 12 February 2012 18:22 (fourteen years ago)

I also read the rolling NFL & hoops threads and think the valuable content/discussion ratio is much much higher here so well done all.

boxall, Sunday, 12 February 2012 18:24 (fourteen years ago)

I've almost become footy-only, yeah. That and books. I'd have no time to, y'know, do stuff otherwise.

Ismael Klata, Sunday, 12 February 2012 18:26 (fourteen years ago)

probably 3/4 of my posts are on football threads. others are basically tv/music threads i have bookmarked.

mizzell, Sunday, 12 February 2012 18:34 (fourteen years ago)

that's about where i am too at this point. irl has everything else covered but i don't have a single friend who knows who aguero is etc

who can judge namitha (toandos), Sunday, 12 February 2012 19:08 (fourteen years ago)

Thinking about this a little more, ILX has become more-or-less integral to my footy experience these days. I can't remember the last game I watched and didn't liveblog in some form. I've even posted from the last few I've been at.

All to your credit chaps, it enhances the experience.

Ismael Klata, Sunday, 12 February 2012 19:45 (fourteen years ago)

I've even posted from the last few I've been locked in The Emirates toilets for

Monkee Trial (Nasty, Brutish & Short), Sunday, 12 February 2012 19:50 (fourteen years ago)

Everything's better with a little ILF

Ismael Klata, Sunday, 12 February 2012 20:08 (fourteen years ago)

Slightly inspired by off-forum exchange with you, IK, I too want to cut down on ILX. But the added experience the footy threads bring to my football joys is immense, so I won't be cutting down on these. ILX footy threads are a huge part of my enjoyment of the game, and particularly getting more insight and lols of English football tbh

Flag post? I hardly knew her! (Le Bateau Ivre), Sunday, 12 February 2012 20:21 (fourteen years ago)

I menan, for one, here in Holland everyone is all "wow JT what a legend, he can't be racist!" and "Suarez whadda guy, whadda player, Evra is being a bitch". I need the ILX antidote, and need it bad.

Flag post? I hardly knew her! (Le Bateau Ivre), Sunday, 12 February 2012 20:22 (fourteen years ago)

Argh I feel bad now, you bring a lot to this place!

"wow JT what a legend, he can't be racist!"

I mean this is just a throwaway remark, but you've revealed a universe I could never even have imagined.

Ismael Klata, Sunday, 12 February 2012 20:31 (fourteen years ago)

*shakes fist at matt dc's years of ilf obstructionism*

who can judge namitha (toandos), Sunday, 12 February 2012 20:33 (fourteen years ago)

No don't feel bad, I thank you! Was toying with the idea already for a while, but what you said made proper sense.

And about that universe: it does exist. Not just the idiots on football message boards, but media pundits too. JT is seen as a Chelsea and England legend. Partly, I think, because most miss all the inside info one gets here, because the tabloids don't reach beyond the sea this way. It enrages me but also makes me feel wholly at home here :-)

I can't speak for other countries but would be surprised if it's otherwise in say, Germany or France. Maybe Pandemic or Jibe can weigh in. But for here, it's safe to say JT's reputation hasn't reached our shores of mainstream media etc, sadly.

Flag post? I hardly knew her! (Le Bateau Ivre), Sunday, 12 February 2012 20:36 (fourteen years ago)

i've never played professional football so from this point on i won't be able to comment on whether Wolverhampton Wanderers are shit or whether Mick McCarthy is an experienced Premier League manager who's been a bit unlucky for the last 18 months

dayove cool (Noodle Vague), Monday, 13 February 2012 01:10 (fourteen years ago)

if it's any consolation, fletcher's goal really was beautiful.

Chris, Monday, 13 February 2012 03:06 (fourteen years ago)

xp to lbi : I'll confirm that in France JT is very highly regarded too. I find it v entertaining reading the ilx football thread and then comparing it to what I read on french websites/forums etc - along with JT, players like gerrard or lampard are also seen as legends on those french sites (and i can't count the number of times i've seen ppl say they'd love to have lampard on their team - currently i see it v often on psg related sites)whereas here they're more regularly made fun of.

Jibe, Monday, 13 February 2012 05:22 (fourteen years ago)

Fletcher's goal was tremendous. We don't deserve him.

dayove cool (Noodle Vague), Monday, 13 February 2012 07:04 (fourteen years ago)

Am impressed with anyone who can receive a reliable 3G signal at the Emirates.

James Mitchell, Monday, 13 February 2012 07:07 (fourteen years ago)

some of the players seem to be constantly struggling to receive relatively small packets of info alright

Dr Frogbius (darraghmac), Monday, 13 February 2012 10:40 (fourteen years ago)

Mick out.

James Mitchell, Monday, 13 February 2012 10:58 (fourteen years ago)

Finally.

Right. Eck out!

An air of pessimism surrounds the England team's chances of winning this summer's European Championship but Redknapp insists there is every reason to be optimistic about the country's chances of success, particularly due to the experience and strength in depth the country has in midfield.

"There are good players in England, good young players here, for sure," Redknapp added.

"Frank Lampard's still a top player and Stevie Gerrard's still a world-class player.

"There are some good English players in midfield still. I bent over backwards to get Scott Parker in the summer.

"And let's be honest, you'd love to have Paul Scholes in the Euros this year.

"He'd be in your team, he's that good. You'd love him to play. He plays like a Spaniard, he can play like Xavi, like (Andres) Iniesta, he doesn't give the ball away."

Should Redknapp take over, he looks set to appoint either Parker, or Liverpool captain Gerrard as national skipper.

"Scotty could do it for sure, so could Steven Gerrard," Redknapp said.

"Scotty is a fantastic boy, he's a family man, he loves his football, he trains well, he plays well, he gets on with the job, he's not a minute's problem.

"He's not a Billy big-time. He's just a great boy and that's what you need in your football club if you're going to do anything."

'arry in a nutshell. He's the current Tottenham manager and he's opining on who England should be brining out of retirement and who the captain should be.
