frist 2 both created by adebayor. first one he played a 1-2 with bale and ran into the box hit a ball across the face of goal that came all the way to bae who finished sharply.
2nd was an early cross that saha volleyed with a katate kick

Number None, Saturday, 11 February 2012 18:03 (fourteen years ago)

Monkee Trial (Nasty, Brutish & Short), Saturday, 11 February 2012 18:04 (fourteen years ago)

mizzell, Saturday, 11 February 2012 18:07 (fourteen years ago)

How did Assou Ekoto suddenly get such massive hair?

(re: "katate kick", don't worry I was just being a dick about the typo)

Monkee Trial (Nasty, Brutish & Short), Saturday, 11 February 2012 18:12 (fourteen years ago)

The hair was always there. It was just braided

Number None, Saturday, 11 February 2012 18:15 (fourteen years ago)

haha didn't even notice the typo

mizzell, Saturday, 11 February 2012 18:17 (fourteen years ago)

4-0 up at halftime against a shambolic Newcastle? Hmm.

Ismael Klata, Saturday, 11 February 2012 18:41 (fourteen years ago)

Cruel on Krul tbh

Flag post? I hardly knew her! (Le Bateau Ivre), Saturday, 11 February 2012 18:42 (fourteen years ago)

I know what you're thinking Ismael, but this DEFINITELY won't finish 4-4. If you want to stick a fiver on it I'll even give you odds of 3-1.

Monkee Trial (Nasty, Brutish & Short), Saturday, 11 February 2012 18:43 (fourteen years ago)

Was that the Spurs fans or Newcastle ones singing 'Pardew for England'?

Monkee Trial (Nasty, Brutish & Short), Saturday, 11 February 2012 18:48 (fourteen years ago)

fuckin romantic weekends bullshit

Dr Frogbius (darraghmac), Saturday, 11 February 2012 18:48 (fourteen years ago)

sweet finish by manu
never seen redknapp so animated on the touchline

mizzell, Saturday, 11 February 2012 18:55 (fourteen years ago)

tickled pink

Number None, Saturday, 11 February 2012 18:55 (fourteen years ago)

pretty awesome montage there

Number None, Saturday, 11 February 2012 18:57 (fourteen years ago)

Obviously, I think Redknapp will be offered and will take the England job this summer, but hypothetically what would *you* do in his situation? England manager is traditionally a thankless job and you spend most of the year doing fuck all, whereas it must be pretty exciting to be in charge of this Spurs team.

Monkee Trial (Nasty, Brutish & Short), Saturday, 11 February 2012 19:00 (fourteen years ago)

FOUR assists for Big Ade? Srsly?

Daniel Taylor otm indeed. Last of LFC dignity ripped to shreds today. All because they bought this idiot Suarez. Coming from Holland, it's hard to not go "hate to say I told you so" tbh

Flag post? I hardly knew her! (Le Bateau Ivre), Saturday, 11 February 2012 19:24 (fourteen years ago)

Weird how everyone (afaik) itt defending Suarez over the race incident or dismissing the handshake incident supports the same team. You'd think at least one impartial ilfer would read the report and watch the footage and come to the same conclusion as every Liverpool fan.

back and to the left

Number None, Saturday, 11 February 2012 19:46 (fourteen years ago)

Suarez was convicted of (i) using insulting language which (ii) made reference to colour. It wasn't a charge of racism, or even necessarily of racist abuse. I get why the initial line was to make clear in public that he's no racist, but the very next thing should've been to clarify what the charge was. This is turning into a pr disaster because everyone's still stuck on the line that the conviction was worse than it is. Every new fiasco is hammering home that first message now, instead of what's intended.

Ismael Klata, Saturday, 11 February 2012 19:52 (fourteen years ago)

too bad this angle exists

l'affaire suarez really needs a thread tbh guys, cos i genuinely got <3 for the lfc ilx cru and admire their doggedness in the face of constant (fair and unfair) abuse but tbrr this shit is different and is p much gonna flair up btwn now and suarez leaving, we really need to put it out to tender

Dr Frogbius (darraghmac), Saturday, 11 February 2012 19:55 (fourteen years ago)

looks like the rugby is gonna be called off too. LG is gonna be pissed

Number None, Saturday, 11 February 2012 19:57 (fourteen years ago)

I get why the initial line was to make clear in public that he's no racist, but the very next thing should've been to clarify what the charge was.
This would involve providing evidence as to what 'probably' happened though.

This is turning into a pr disaster because everyone's still stuck on the line that the conviction was worse than it is.
And will be forever more. Amazed that Liverpool didn't publish their own 'written reasons' to clarify why they're pissed off, of which there are plenty.

Chris, Saturday, 11 February 2012 20:01 (fourteen years ago)

is that the same daniel taylor who described the fanzine incident as an 'over-reaction'.

l'affaire suarez really needs a thread tbh guys

i think people have made their minds up. not sure what else can be said. i'm amazed at the number of seemingly sound people who have refused to give this the attention it deserves. if you won't listen to a liverpool fan then read those newsframes pieces if you haven't already. fed up of it all.

Chris, Saturday, 11 February 2012 20:20 (fourteen years ago)

See, I don't think there are particularly. The conviction is to a low standard of proof, unlike what Terry's facing. It's not a real conviction, unlike Terry. It's a lesser charge than Terry. The evidence is flimsy, but a case like this can only be decided on the basis of what evidence there is i.e. Evra's word v Suarez's. Reading the judgment it's perfectly clear why the decision went as it did, hence no appeal.

In that light, the thing to do had to be to minimise, regret, learn lessons and put down to misunderstanding. Stuff like today escalates to completely counterproductive effect.

Ismael Klata, Saturday, 11 February 2012 20:21 (fourteen years ago)

Q to Liverpool fans:
1) Do you believe Suarez referred to Evra's race/colour at least once during an angry exchange? Y/N
2) Do you believe it was wrong to do so? Y/N

3) If you answered Y to 1 and 2, do you believe Kenny Dalglish and Luis Suarez would answer in the same way? Y/N

I personally go with YYN and I think people at Liverpool muddying the waters with Maybe/N/N and then going after Evra as a liar and referring to his "previous" (which he didn't actually have) makes them look terrible and risks people thinking they condone the use of racist language.

Liverpool and Suarez could have stated explicitly months ago that it was wrong for Suarez to use this term in those circumstances regardless to what is or isn't acceptable in other countries and offered a simple (even insincere) apology to Evra and I think this would all be over long before now. An early apology might also have reduced the period of the ban.

fwiw I think it's fair enough to dispute how many times he said it and to state that this single/double/sixtuple incident doesn't automatically make him a racist, but everyone involved in the entire case including Suarez has admitted he said it at least once, why not admit then that it was wrong?

Mertesacker : /

" fuckin romantic weekends bullshit"

Cosign.

Reckon Liverpool will sell Suarez in the summer. His goal tally isn't enough to justify the grief, especially given how much money they could get for him.

Matt DC, Saturday, 11 February 2012 21:49 (fourteen years ago)

No way. Which is not to say that Suarez won't want out - I think that's verging on more likely than not, partly due to persecution and partly due to the club underachieving - more that there's too much hope & credibility invested in him for the club to initiate things.

Except for one thing. I imagine it's clear from my take on things that I am interested in how the club is perceived more widely and how its stance plays in the wider world. I don't think this is how Dalglish, the louder fans, or the core of the club sees things - I don't think they care if non-Liverpudlians think they're acting like dicks. Which I can't knock tbh, their job is to forge a successful team, not to make friends.

But I do wonder to what extent Fenway understand or are on board with this. If they care about bad PR, then I could see action being taken to get rid. In which case Dalglish would quit. If they see bad PR as good box-office, then obviously he'll be kept. I don't know the answer, except that I suspect they're most interested in international revenues, and would guess that those aren't being harmed by all this.

Ismael Klata, Saturday, 11 February 2012 22:12 (fourteen years ago)

Seems to be a lack of organisation there. Is it right that KD is the only person who's been speaking out about this? Just can't get my head around the fact that they neither apologised for any offence taken early on, nor published their own written reasons to try to explain their stance. Missed a massive open goal here.

Chris, Saturday, 11 February 2012 22:20 (fourteen years ago)

What does 'back and to the left' mean btw?

Ismael Klata, Saturday, 11 February 2012 22:27 (fourteen years ago)

Reference to the JFK movie where Costner is describing the angle of the bullets hitting the president.

Ach, the handshake was nothing, the advertising boards thing even less; can't believe we've been arguing about that all day. Really wish Jonathan Pearce wasn't commentating though, he always overplays everything.

And Ferguson can piss off, what's he on about there?

Ismael Klata, Saturday, 11 February 2012 22:56 (fourteen years ago)

the fenway guys have to be displeased. on the wrong side of a race row? losing and drawing this much? from this side of the atlantic everyone at lfc looks pedantic/rong/stoopid. luckily for them it isn't a big story here. could see suarez AND kenny gone at the end of the season, comolli to reshape

who can judge namitha (toandos), Saturday, 11 February 2012 22:58 (fourteen years ago)

We looked completely overwhelmed around Utd's goals

Ismael Klata, Saturday, 11 February 2012 22:59 (fourteen years ago)

'from this side of the atlantic everyone at lfc looks pedantic/rong/stoopid'

this is true but

'luckily for them it isn't a big story here'

this is prob much more important for Henry et al. Someone should get LeBron's take on matters.
