American election coverage is always a disappointment after seeing BBC coverage of the last UK race. Britishes do it with flair.

milo z (mlp), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 02:17 (nineteen years ago)

the VA results aren't meaningful yet - they've only counted half of NoVA

Florida is moving back in our direction, but my Charlie Stuart sleeper pick fails to transpire.

uh you guys, Johnette Napolitano is now governor of Arizona

she's been governor of AZ for 4 years

gabbneb (gabbneb), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 02:17 (nineteen years ago)

No swingometer, no credibility.

Joey, baby - dont get crazy
Detours. fences... I get defensive
I know you've heard it all before -
So I dont say it anymore
I just stand by and watch you
Fight your secret war.
Although I used to wonder why -
I used to cry till I was dry.
Still sometimes I get a strange pain
Inside
Oh, joey, if youre hurting so am i.

Euai Kapaui (tracerhand), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 02:22 (nineteen years ago)

Now here's a defeatist attitude:

Republican Ken Blackwell conceded the race for [Ohio] governor to [Dem. Ted] Strickland before a single vote was counted.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 02:24 (nineteen years ago)

Ned can we not revel in wide margins? Just say it. "IT'S THE SPITZAAHHHHH"

Euai Kapaui (tracerhand), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 02:25 (nineteen years ago)

Ned can we not revel in wide margins?

Oh, that's all right, then.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 02:27 (nineteen years ago)

i'm trying not to envision hadassah lieberman with bass guitar and moll-cut

MSNBC is projecting Cardin over Steele.

gabbneb (gabbneb), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 02:31 (nineteen years ago)

Allen now has a 23,000-vote lead with 78% reporting in VA but, scanning the breakdown, Webb has gains of around 15-17,000 coming his way from some of those northern counties. There are still more that can't be trended yet because they haven't returned a single precinct.

(I am doing this all in my head and my margin of error is fuckin' massive).

Michael Jones (MichaelJ), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 02:32 (nineteen years ago)

Here in Florida Negron and Mahoney are in a dead heat; Klein has a razor-thin lead over Clay Shaw.

Alfred, Lord Sotosyn (Alfred Soto), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 02:32 (nineteen years ago)

my district: Republican leading Dem 51-49, with about half of districts reporting. grr.

bitch i served last night who claimed to be Rep candidate's niece: this isn't over yet.

I'm pretty sure Klein wins. Mahoney will be down to the wire. But it looks like Jennings didn't close the deal in the 13th.

I'm feeling secure on Webb - we're still waiting on half of Arlington and Loudoun and 1/3 of Richmond city.

MD Gov called for O'Malley.

gabbneb (gabbneb), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 02:36 (nineteen years ago)

I hate J.C. Watts so much.

Django Blowhardt (Rock Hardy), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 02:37 (nineteen years ago)

did I misread that Foley was only 1% behind?

gear with the JFK references, as always... :)

Alfred, Lord Sotosyn (Alfred Soto), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 02:38 (nineteen years ago)

Foley is a 100% behind.

Alfred, Lord Sotosyn (Alfred Soto), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 02:38 (nineteen years ago)

The teeth-gnashing begins:

Party labels aside, Chafee deserved to lose more than any other incumbent. What a lousy senator, a man who is utterly unpredictable because he has no real beliefs.

Alfred, Lord Sotosyn (Alfred Soto), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 02:39 (nineteen years ago)

YES Biggest Little!!

Euai Kapaui (tracerhand), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 02:39 (nineteen years ago)

Bob Shamansky in OH-12 at 49% with 1/3 in, but it's looking like Wulsin just wasn't a strong enough contender in the 2nd (the call I was least confident of).

gabbneb (gabbneb), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 02:41 (nineteen years ago)

My exit poll frustrations explained by pollster.com:

The NEP analysts are gradually replacing the exit poll talleys in each precinct with actual votes from that precinct. They are also beginning to fill out a second and larger sample of precincts from which they gather hard votes At any given time, they adjust the exit poll tabulations (displayed on CNN) to match the current estimate considred most reliable.

Then it's not a bloody exit poll is it? Serves me right for looking at them - no more tonight.

Allen up by 26,000 - I know Richmond City and Arlington aren't fully in yet, but I don't think Webb has the numbers to turn it round in the last 18% of precincts. This reminds me of looking at the Ohio figures two years ago.

I'll go as far as 95% of VA precincts reporting and then go to bed. Pleasant surprise in the morning, please.

Michael Jones (MichaelJ), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 02:45 (nineteen years ago)

Carcetti wins in Maryland! Hehe.

G F Allen Republican 956,216 49.54%
J H Webb Jr Democratic 950,981 49.26%

with most of NoVA in

Euai Kapaui (tracerhand), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 02:51 (nineteen years ago)

god i hope we win VA-Sen. how awesome would it be to not lose a single senate race, other than CT (which is, come on, like a half lose)?

like murderinging (modestmickey), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 02:52 (nineteen years ago)

Thanks, vingt-regards! The gap is down to 2,000 on that site. Damn you, Green voters!

Michael Jones (MichaelJ), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 02:52 (nineteen years ago)

The BBC's live news radio station, 5 Live, is actually bragging about broadcasting random moronic shite right now. I'm off to kill some peeps and hope ever'things beautiful when I wake up.

fwiw, it looks like my parents' repug rep (mike ferguson) is going to get back in! :-(

Eisbär (llamasfur), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 02:54 (nineteen years ago)

There's still a slim chance in VA. Some of the cities are slow reporting and they seem to be strongly leaning Webb.

vingt regards (vignt_regards), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 02:57 (nineteen years ago)

say what you will about bob menendez (and his pro-torture vote), but his daughter is FIIIIIIIIIIINE:
