She doesn't seem to dress quite so hideously as she does in the opening titles and did in the first few episodes, when she wore clothes that seemed specially designed to make her look gawky and terrible, like Harrison Ford's clothes in Mosquito Coast.

Now I feel like creating a Harrison Ford in "Mosquito Coast - damn, damn, damn does this man look good" thread but I will abstain.

A funnier, sunnier (Nicole), Thursday, 9 February 2012 18:01 (fourteen years ago)

they really need to ditch those opening titles

Alshipleyan Goalpostmover (some dude), Thursday, 9 February 2012 18:12 (fourteen years ago)

or at least play the whole thing so it's clear the guys are very obviously being put upon

I spend a lot of time thinking about apricots (DJP), Thursday, 9 February 2012 18:13 (fourteen years ago)

Yeah, that's the thing: the show initially seemed to be making the bold move of casting a popular attractive actress as a fairly unattractive character who was almost painfully awkward. ("Bold" != "fun to watch") The character seems much more comfortable and conventionally feminine in some ways now, more of a 'cute girl who likes ribbons and cupcakes'. (And it happened too fast to fall into an 'ugly duckling' narrative arc.)

ahhh!

wolf kabob (ENBB), Monday, 20 February 2012 16:50 (fourteen years ago)

why would they try to make her less attractive?

Alessandra Rizzotti is a former child model who currently works for the R-rated cartoon show Family Guy. She’s written for Smith, Heeb and Neave's online magazines, and has been published in two Harper Perennial books. Alessandra lives in Silverlake where she makes terrariums and spends time with her five animals, Maude the dog, cats Hunter, Max and Princess Bunny Buttons, as well as her boyfriend, who she affectionately calls "Bear". You can see more of her work here and there, but maybe just follow her everywhere.

I can't.

Nicole, Friday, 24 February 2012 16:53 (fourteen years ago)

i know! i too was terribly bothered by the missing animal. maude, hunter, max and princess bb = four, only four!

Little GTFO (contenderizer), Friday, 24 February 2012 16:55 (fourteen years ago)

slipshod imo

Little GTFO (contenderizer), Friday, 24 February 2012 16:56 (fourteen years ago)

the fifth animal is her boyfriend

robbery by sudden snatching (DJP), Friday, 24 February 2012 16:58 (fourteen years ago)

"Bear"

DNRIYHM NATION 1814 (some dude), Friday, 24 February 2012 17:00 (fourteen years ago)

It's confusing.

I would say "...spends time her five animals: Maude the dog; cats Hunter, Max, and Princess Bunny Buttons; and her boyfriend, whom she affectionately calls 'Bear.'"

Ascot Fitzgerald (jaymc), Friday, 24 February 2012 17:05 (fourteen years ago)

what a surprisingly horribly formed joke from someone who thinks it's funny to name their pet "princess bunny buttons"

DNRIYHM NATION 1814 (some dude), Friday, 24 February 2012 17:07 (fourteen years ago)

can I just say, byline photos like hers are one of my biggest pet peeves

like, if that's what you're going to go with, why don't you just put up a picture of smiley face and rainbows wrapped around a unicorn and call it day

robbery by sudden snatching (DJP), Friday, 24 February 2012 17:11 (fourteen years ago)

i like adventure time, am not above "princess bunny buttons"

lol the text box that pops up if you scroll your mouse over the picture is 'AlessandraRizzotti_childmodel_familyguy'

"Alessandra lives in Silverlake where she makes terrariums"

Suede - the fabric, not the band (DL), Friday, 24 February 2012 17:51 (fourteen years ago)

Why point out that Family Guy is R-rated?

Like a Leppard Messiah (Michael White), Friday, 24 February 2012 17:54 (fourteen years ago)

especially since it isn't

robbery by sudden snatching (DJP), Friday, 24 February 2012 17:54 (fourteen years ago)

b/c she's "naughty"

Ascot Fitzgerald (jaymc), Friday, 24 February 2012 18:01 (fourteen years ago)

it kind of is

i mean TV 14 is probably the closest analogue to an R rating if we're comparing TV content ratings and movie content ratings (xpost)

DNRIYHM NATION 1814 (some dude), Friday, 24 February 2012 18:03 (fourteen years ago)

there's nothing on non-cable network television that wouldn't appear in a PG-13 movie

robbery by sudden snatching (DJP), Friday, 24 February 2012 18:04 (fourteen years ago)

where she makes terrariums

How does someone 'make' a terranium? You fling a load of soil and plants into a fishbowl, that's it!

the feeling is surreal (snoball), Friday, 24 February 2012 18:15 (fourteen years ago)

yeah, i've always been bothered when people say they "made" a painting or drawing. you didn't make shit. you just put some crap on some other crap. you put a painting.

Little GTFO (contenderizer), Friday, 24 February 2012 18:23 (fourteen years ago)

It's like the horticulture equiv of Sandra Lee.

the feeling is surreal (snoball), Friday, 24 February 2012 18:26 (fourteen years ago)

if every terrarium came with a matching theme cocktail, the world would be much improved

Little GTFO (contenderizer), Friday, 24 February 2012 18:31 (fourteen years ago)

how can people make anything if the atoms already existed, really only god can make

iatee, Friday, 24 February 2012 18:33 (fourteen years ago)

xp The cocktail would have to be green. A pint of Absinthe served with a twig and sprayed with pine air freshner? "I call this my Forest Glade cocktail"

the feeling is surreal (snoball), Friday, 24 February 2012 18:34 (fourteen years ago)

I really want to make a terrarium but I keep forgetting to get the stuff I need. It's a standing item on my to do list. It says:

terrarium!
succulents!

wolf kabob (ENBB), Friday, 24 February 2012 18:35 (fourteen years ago)

earth!

the feeling is surreal (snoball), Friday, 24 February 2012 18:36 (fourteen years ago)

tiny ceramic skeleton!

Little GTFO (contenderizer), Friday, 24 February 2012 18:38 (fourteen years ago)

I actually already have earth! it's the one component I have. I also need a container but I'm still shopping around for one of those.

wolf kabob (ENBB), Friday, 24 February 2012 18:39 (fourteen years ago)

This is the one I want but it's insanely overpriced: secret forest

wolf kabob (ENBB), Friday, 24 February 2012 18:40 (fourteen years ago)

nice. my gf has been researching terrarium containers recently...

Little GTFO (contenderizer), Friday, 24 February 2012 18:43 (fourteen years ago)

$160 yargh

Little GTFO (contenderizer), Friday, 24 February 2012 18:50 (fourteen years ago)

wtf

Janet Snakehole (VegemiteGrrl), Friday, 24 February 2012 18:50 (fourteen years ago)

This is the dawning of the age of terrariums, apparently.

A Full Torgo Apparition (Phil D.), Friday, 24 February 2012 18:50 (fourteen years ago)

Sorry.

A Full Torgo Apparition (Phil D.), Friday, 24 February 2012 18:51 (fourteen years ago)

that $160 seems like a bargain compared to the "large danish terrarium" at $225

this is why i can't have nice things

Little GTFO (contenderizer), Friday, 24 February 2012 18:54 (fourteen years ago)

The one I want is $160? Yeah, that sounds about right. :/ WHY?? It is so nice.

wolf kabob (ENBB), Friday, 24 February 2012 18:55 (fourteen years ago)

damn, damn, damn does that terrarium look good

tylerw, Friday, 24 February 2012 18:55 (fourteen years ago)

^^ will never get old
