it would be counterproductive because of the frenzy.

Yeah, I can see that being an issue

le ralliement du doute et de l'erreur (Michael White), Tuesday, 7 February 2012 23:54 (fourteen years ago)

Arsenal are eyeing a move for Daniel Sturridge, 22. The Chelsea hitman is believed to be unhappy with his wide role.

James Mitchell, Wednesday, 8 February 2012 08:23 (fourteen years ago)

can't help but feel it's a character flaw in a player to be pissy about where they play

dayove cool (Noodle Vague), Wednesday, 8 February 2012 08:24 (fourteen years ago)

subtle

Dr Frogbius (darraghmac), Wednesday, 8 February 2012 08:25 (fourteen years ago)

xp y & n, tbh- if sturridge feels he's better as a central striker and isn't getting a shot cos lol torres, i could see that causing discontent. At a less political club he'd be #1 on merit.

Dr Frogbius (darraghmac), Wednesday, 8 February 2012 08:27 (fourteen years ago)

i just think players need to play where they're told - tbf to the lad Sturridge i guess he has been but this carping has been going on for a while now, also to me it speaks to a lack of flexibility, son you've got to play where you're needed and fuck knows Nando wd be even less use out wide

dayove cool (Noodle Vague), Wednesday, 8 February 2012 08:29 (fourteen years ago)

Can see him being #1 at Arsenal once the cheque for RvP clears in August.

James Mitchell, Wednesday, 8 February 2012 08:29 (fourteen years ago)

it reminds me of 10 year-old kids who all wanna be the CF cos it's the only 10 year-old kid glory position

dayove cool (Noodle Vague), Wednesday, 8 February 2012 08:29 (fourteen years ago)

think Arsene shd have other priorities as long as RvP's there but if/when he goes Sturridge wd be an excellent signing

dayove cool (Noodle Vague), Wednesday, 8 February 2012 08:30 (fourteen years ago)

you've got to play where you're needed btwn transfer windows.

Just sayin, i can see where he'd be unhappy- maybe not transfer unhappy but footballers egos are kinda weird imo

Dr Frogbius (darraghmac), Wednesday, 8 February 2012 08:31 (fourteen years ago)

yeah a lot of them are and this is my point. think they need to be treated like Hitchcock treated actors.

dayove cool (Noodle Vague), Wednesday, 8 February 2012 08:36 (fourteen years ago)

most managers don't have that power

James Mitchell, Wednesday, 8 February 2012 09:25 (fourteen years ago)

daniel sturridge went to chelsea??

Alan Shearer (ken c), Wednesday, 8 February 2012 09:36 (fourteen years ago)

Wants to move to a middle of the table position iirc.

James Mitchell, Wednesday, 8 February 2012 09:45 (fourteen years ago)

Not getting played there ahead of Torres is some bullshit though and if I was him or Lukaku I'd be more pissed with every game it happens. If we were discussing managerial ability to oft come with confidence boosting the other day, AVB is working on a Rafa-esque scale with keeping these dudes behind Nando.

a hoy hoy, Wednesday, 8 February 2012 10:41 (fourteen years ago)

Not sure he has much choice, does he?

Mohombi Khush Hua (ShariVari), Wednesday, 8 February 2012 10:43 (fourteen years ago)

He happily dropped him for Drogba pre-acn, why not drop him for their best scoroer this season?

a hoy hoy, Wednesday, 8 February 2012 10:44 (fourteen years ago)

again, no. he's got to play the 50m world superstar in this case. chelsea not a normal club in these circs.

Dr Frogbius (darraghmac), Wednesday, 8 February 2012 10:45 (fourteen years ago)

drogba != kids

Dr Frogbius (darraghmac), Wednesday, 8 February 2012 10:46 (fourteen years ago)

well then he doesn't have the balls to deserve the chelsea job and should be fired immediately

a hoy hoy, Wednesday, 8 February 2012 10:46 (fourteen years ago)

the last dude who had the balls was fired for not playing abramovich's striker

Dr Frogbius (darraghmac), Wednesday, 8 February 2012 10:47 (fourteen years ago)

Possibly he doesn't think Sturridge is all that, and I'm sort of with him on that

Charles Kennedy Jumped Up, He Called 'Oh No'. (Tom D.), Wednesday, 8 February 2012 10:47 (fourteen years ago)

Sturridge is 22, been playing in the league for 5 seasons and is roughly at 1 in 2 this season. he doesn't exactly =! kids either.

a hoy hoy, Wednesday, 8 February 2012 10:48 (fourteen years ago)

Sturridge yes, and tbf he plays a lot; Lukaku no, he's done little yet to suggest he's any good.

Ismael Klata, Wednesday, 8 February 2012 10:48 (fourteen years ago)

Oh, do people not like Sturridge? I've always been really impressed with him and presumed everyone else was as well.

a hoy hoy, Wednesday, 8 February 2012 10:49 (fourteen years ago)

there's that too- whatever about the balls required to face down an omnipotent owner, he's surely not about to be dictated to by a stroppy 21 yr old on a long contract

Dr Frogbius (darraghmac), Wednesday, 8 February 2012 10:49 (fourteen years ago)

maybe he hadn't realised that daniel sturridge had gone to chelsea

Alan Shearer (ken c), Wednesday, 8 February 2012 10:49 (fourteen years ago)

Re: Lukakau - It seems as if Roman bought him specifically as an afterthought, as in "What other club could spend £18m on an 18 year old and just forget about him? Man City don't spend like us."

a hoy hoy, Wednesday, 8 February 2012 10:51 (fourteen years ago)

Sturridge is good but he's no Fernando Torres.

Charles Kennedy Jumped Up, He Called 'Oh No'. (Tom D.), Wednesday, 8 February 2012 10:54 (fourteen years ago)

that sentence broke my head so... umm what? wanna elaborate?

a hoy hoy, Wednesday, 8 February 2012 10:56 (fourteen years ago)

Steve Morison is good but he's no Fernando Torres. And Norwich are happy with it being like that.

a hoy hoy, Wednesday, 8 February 2012 10:57 (fourteen years ago)

True. That reminds me I had an Arsenal fan, who (bizarrely) thought I was a fellow Gooner, loudly bemoaning the future of the Arse (this was before the 7-1) and he kept saying, "If Chelsea offered Torres for Walcott, I'd take him!"

Charles Kennedy Jumped Up, He Called 'Oh No'. (Tom D.), Wednesday, 8 February 2012 11:01 (fourteen years ago)

well yeah but it's shit for shit

dayove cool (Noodle Vague), Wednesday, 8 February 2012 11:05 (fourteen years ago)

would anyone turn down torres for walcott?

Alan Shearer (ken c), Wednesday, 8 February 2012 11:10 (fourteen years ago)

tbh i think i prefer theo. at least there are grounds for improvement, whereas torres seems destined to be sold to turkey/russia/china/do the rounds and never play at a high level again

a hoy hoy, Wednesday, 8 February 2012 11:15 (fourteen years ago)

Hmmmmmmm, think Torres' career is recoverable tbh. Not sure that Theo's ever going to improve that much.

Charles Kennedy Jumped Up, He Called 'Oh No'. (Tom D.), Wednesday, 8 February 2012 11:21 (fourteen years ago)

theo has grounds for improvement as much as carroll has grounds for improvement tbh

Alan Shearer (ken c), Wednesday, 8 February 2012 11:22 (fourteen years ago)

xpost

Alan Shearer (ken c), Wednesday, 8 February 2012 11:22 (fourteen years ago)

I think Theo + Carroll can both improve!

Charles Kennedy Jumped Up, He Called 'Oh No'. (Tom D.), Wednesday, 8 February 2012 11:24 (fourteen years ago)

one should hope so!!

Alan Shearer (ken c), Wednesday, 8 February 2012 11:25 (fourteen years ago)

read a few more books, study algebra

Alan Shearer (ken c), Wednesday, 8 February 2012 11:26 (fourteen years ago)

Yeah Carroll should be fine if he stops being a dick. [Theo kinda needs to become a dick to improve.]

a hoy hoy, Wednesday, 8 February 2012 11:26 (fourteen years ago)

i think he should practise shooting. and crossing.

Upt0eleven, Wednesday, 8 February 2012 11:28 (fourteen years ago)

Moaning Arsenal fans have made me warm to Theo tbh, he's like The Doors, he was so annoyingly overrated befoe that's he's in danger of being underrated

Charles Kennedy Jumped Up, He Called 'Oh No'. (Tom D.), Wednesday, 8 February 2012 11:29 (fourteen years ago)

ffs

Dr Frogbius (darraghmac), Wednesday, 8 February 2012 11:31 (fourteen years ago)

sam you'd turn any easygoing fucker into ronan so you would

Dr Frogbius (darraghmac), Wednesday, 8 February 2012 11:34 (fourteen years ago)

my personal opinion is that he goes through periods of both being V GOOD and V BAD, like 8 games of one and then the other. Sometimes earlier in the season when he was really good and finally convinced people to pay attention to him was when he started his v bad period. I felt like it was an Invisible Boy situation - he was great until anyone actually started paying attention and then he fell apart again.

a hoy hoy, Wednesday, 8 February 2012 11:36 (fourteen years ago)

suedey and james and them are too easy going for you to hate arsenal fans, i've got to pull up the weight.
