Whatever, we all know the England team that turns up in Poland and Ukraine will be the worst for years.

Matt DC, Tuesday, 7 February 2012 22:31 (fourteen years ago)

parker behind thudd, screening, modric around thudd, orbiting. It's a v beautiful thought.

Thudd is 6'4" and therefore must play behind a smaller dude tho, it's the rules

Dr Frogbius (darraghmac), Tuesday, 7 February 2012 22:31 (fourteen years ago)

Oh, duh, the big guy who plays for Man U. Hasn't he been injured recently?

Not badly I don't think but yeah, a lot of projection onto injured players itt

Ismael Klata, Tuesday, 7 February 2012 22:36 (fourteen years ago)

king
dawson
walker
thudd
parker
lennon
defoe

could all make the plane, depending on injuries

Dr Frogbius (darraghmac), Tuesday, 7 February 2012 22:39 (fourteen years ago)

you forgot Bale

Number None, Tuesday, 7 February 2012 22:40 (fourteen years ago)

not sure at what stage of that scale re rooney alternatives i started messing, but y'all do remember he's out for the first few games right

Dr Frogbius (darraghmac), Tuesday, 7 February 2012 22:41 (fourteen years ago)

Ashley Young was the second player you named

Number None, Tuesday, 7 February 2012 22:42 (fourteen years ago)

in a three, tbf, in a three

Dr Frogbius (darraghmac), Tuesday, 7 February 2012 22:44 (fourteen years ago)

yeah he's been awful though

Number None, Tuesday, 7 February 2012 22:44 (fourteen years ago)

looking at wing/striker options (ie guys that can do both like sturridge, young, wellbeck) and fullbacks, it's clear england have more than enough 7.5/10 versatility in the squad for a change. Lack of reliable centre fwd/backs is the likely weakness this time

Dr Frogbius (darraghmac), Tuesday, 7 February 2012 22:47 (fourteen years ago)

what happened young btw

Dr Frogbius (darraghmac), Tuesday, 7 February 2012 22:48 (fourteen years ago)

I honestly don't know. He was an integral member of the vintage Utd side of August '11

Number None, Tuesday, 7 February 2012 22:51 (fourteen years ago)

god be wit de days

Dr Frogbius (darraghmac), Tuesday, 7 February 2012 22:52 (fourteen years ago)

dunno if it's Young or Fergie tho tbh, he wasn't playing on the reg before he got injured was he?

dayove cool (Noodle Vague), Tuesday, 7 February 2012 22:54 (fourteen years ago)

He was. Valencia was injured though

Number None, Tuesday, 7 February 2012 22:57 (fourteen years ago)

He was an integral member of the vintage Utd side of August '11

Ah, glory days....

Monkee Trial (Nasty, Brutish & Short), Tuesday, 7 February 2012 23:00 (fourteen years ago)

young on the left at the start of the season tho

Dr Frogbius (darraghmac), Tuesday, 7 February 2012 23:01 (fourteen years ago)

I explained this before but Nani changes sides depending on whether Young or Valencia is playing

Number None, Tuesday, 7 February 2012 23:03 (fourteen years ago)

see now ilx has me worried that i can't scold a fukn donegal man for being uppity

Dr Frogbius (darraghmac), Tuesday, 7 February 2012 23:04 (fourteen years ago)

we've certainly suffered our share of oppression.

Number None, Tuesday, 7 February 2012 23:10 (fourteen years ago)

don't kid yerselves the brits hardly bothered with ye iirc

Dr Frogbius (darraghmac), Tuesday, 7 February 2012 23:28 (fourteen years ago)

Comparative suffering under British rule in Ireland; a treatise on modern EPL support legitmacy

they took fermanagh but not donegal

gyac, Tuesday, 7 February 2012 23:31 (fourteen years ago)

the road only went that far tbf

Dr Frogbius (darraghmac), Tuesday, 7 February 2012 23:34 (fourteen years ago)

shouldn't have stopped in kinnegad for that burger

I'm going to allow this! (LocalGarda), Tuesday, 7 February 2012 23:35 (fourteen years ago)

Who, if any of the English old guard should be retained? I've pretty much washed my hands of the lot of them, if only just to start anew.

cashley

a hoy hoy, Tuesday, 7 February 2012 23:39 (fourteen years ago)

cashley

gerrard's game has improved a little imo?

Dr Frogbius (darraghmac), Tuesday, 7 February 2012 23:41 (fourteen years ago)

Gerrard looked decent last night i thought. He'll be injured though

Number None, Tuesday, 7 February 2012 23:42 (fourteen years ago)

centre mid of gerrard parker ain't bad

Dr Frogbius (darraghmac), Tuesday, 7 February 2012 23:42 (fourteen years ago)

As lothsome as he is, I kind of agree that Cole is still worth it. Any defenders?

centre mid of gerrard parker ain't bad

Who plays right, then?

lennon, walcott, AOC?

Dr Frogbius (darraghmac), Tuesday, 7 February 2012 23:45 (fourteen years ago)

And is there any way a foreign manager can argue that leaving Rooney out for the sake of the team's general flexibility, whether tactically or due to injuries, isn't going to get lynched?

i mean, i don't know that any of them is a natural rm in 442 but none are bad options (obv everyone projecting like mad on AOC but kid looks good)

Dr Frogbius (darraghmac), Tuesday, 7 February 2012 23:47 (fourteen years ago)

but everyone hates Rooney. And it all depends on how the first two games go really

Number None, Tuesday, 7 February 2012 23:47 (fourteen years ago)

He seemed like he had more, hmm, heft to him than Walcott does in that game last week.

You have to pick your squad before you go, though, right? What's the number, now? 23?

can't drop rooney tbf, it would be counterproductive because of the frenzy.

Tactically it should obv be trialled from now til then tho

Dr Frogbius (darraghmac), Tuesday, 7 February 2012 23:50 (fourteen years ago)

oh right, you mean out of the squad. There really aren't enough decent strikers around to consider it imo

Number None, Tuesday, 7 February 2012 23:51 (fourteen years ago)

it would be counterproductive because of the frenzy.

Yeah, I can see that being an issue

Arsenal are eyeing a move for Daniel Sturridge, 22. The Chelsea hitman is believed to be unhappy with his wide role.

James Mitchell, Wednesday, 8 February 2012 08:23 (fourteen years ago)

can't help but feel it's a character flaw in a player to be pissy about where they play

dayove cool (Noodle Vague), Wednesday, 8 February 2012 08:24 (fourteen years ago)

subtle

Dr Frogbius (darraghmac), Wednesday, 8 February 2012 08:25 (fourteen years ago)

xp y & n, tbh- if sturridge feels he's better as a central striker and isn't getting a shot cos lol torres, i could see that causing discontent. At a less political club he'd be #1 on merit.

Dr Frogbius (darraghmac), Wednesday, 8 February 2012 08:27 (fourteen years ago)

i just think players need to play where they're told - tbf to the lad Sturridge i guess he has been but this carping has been going on for a while now, also to me it speaks to a lack of flexibility, son you've got to play where you're needed and fuck knows Nando wd be even less use out wide

dayove cool (Noodle Vague), Wednesday, 8 February 2012 08:29 (fourteen years ago)

Can see him being #1 at Arsenal once the cheque for RvP clears in August.

James Mitchell, Wednesday, 8 February 2012 08:29 (fourteen years ago)

it reminds me of 10 year-old kids who all wanna be the CF cos it's the only 10 year-old kid glory position

dayove cool (Noodle Vague), Wednesday, 8 February 2012 08:29 (fourteen years ago)

think Arsene shd have other priorities as long as RvP's there but if/when he goes Sturridge wd be an excellent signing

dayove cool (Noodle Vague), Wednesday, 8 February 2012 08:30 (fourteen years ago)

you've got to play where you're needed btwn transfer windows.

Just sayin, i can see where he'd be unhappy- maybe not transfer unhappy but footballers egos are kinda weird imo

Dr Frogbius (darraghmac), Wednesday, 8 February 2012 08:31 (fourteen years ago)
