the non wealthy parts of west la (including the neighborhood "west la") are very interesting to me in that the are so anonymous. if i wanted to disappear/run away that's where i'd move.

I don't know man. I love living here. It's a little more spread out than East LA, but you've got some really good restaurants (especially Italian), easy access to lots of shopping and some really good movie theaters, a record store that I love (Record Surplus), plus closer to the ocean.

Also it's quiet, which I appreciate.

"i don't go west of fairfax" is the "i don't go above 14th street" of LA

There are some good movie theaters. The ocean, I don't know, how great is it really?

My neighborhood is damn quiet. Sitting by the screen door right now and all I hear is birdsong.

honestly tho the expo line extension means i am several times more likely to head over to west LA

Plus we have less hipsters. I guess the pest control is better over here.

West LA seems like all "hipsters" to me whenever I go, just that weird dayglo classically "LA" kind of hipster. But I don't go there enough to have much opinion. I go for movie theater or beach or to buy clothes. I would go more if I could ride metro, for sure.

I think of "I don't go west of Fairfax" as "I don't go South of Embankment".

I liked going to the Landmark in Culver City. It was cool to see so many teenagers at a movie about Pina Bausch.

Remy used to live in Palms. jeff lower case jeff used to live in Culver City. I'd move West if I got a job over that way.

I'm not calling it West LA but I do think of it is west, yes. I think of it as its own thing, really. It's not really near anywhere.

Also I was thinking about the ocean

I showed Google Earth of my street to a friend who lives in an East Coast city and she said "do you live in the suburbs?". I said "I'm about a 5-minute drive from downtown LA!". This is a funny place

we did a FAP at the hollywood roscoe's once, a few years ago. i went back the night of the tune-yards show last year -- the chicken was good, but the dish i ordered came with grits, which were terrible. note to self: stick with the chicken and waffles.
