Glen Johnson - steals toilets from Homebase
A Young - sends nekkid pics of himself over teh internet

Actually spending time thinking about whether this should bar them from the non tossers 11.

pandemic, Friday, 3 February 2012 12:52 (fourteen years ago)

Baines' music blog is reason enough to bar him from the good guys XI

dayove cool (Noodle Vague), Friday, 3 February 2012 13:15 (fourteen years ago)

Is that still going?! What's he into these days?

Ismael Klata, Friday, 3 February 2012 13:26 (fourteen years ago)

Beady Eyes. Probably.

pandemic, Friday, 3 February 2012 13:28 (fourteen years ago)

He hasn't updated since May, but names dropped then include Mercury Rev, Beastie Boys and Kate Bush, plus some things I'm too old to recognise.

Ismael Klata, Friday, 3 February 2012 13:33 (fourteen years ago)

he (Barton) always struck me more in the mould of comic book characters such as The Punisher – the type whose methods could be repulsive but possess a certain uncompromising allure.

Apparently Cleverley is in the squad for the weekend. Utd are going to walk this now.

Number None, Friday, 3 February 2012 14:15 (fourteen years ago)

Apparently JT's out though. Where's the fun in that?

Ismael Klata, Friday, 3 February 2012 14:21 (fourteen years ago)

Cole suspended as well. Nani (if he plays) and Valencia could have a good time against whatever's left

Number None, Friday, 3 February 2012 14:28 (fourteen years ago)

good to see the best midfielder in britain back for united.

I'm going to allow this! (LocalGarda), Friday, 3 February 2012 14:38 (fourteen years ago)

well yeah, that was my point

Number None, Friday, 3 February 2012 14:40 (fourteen years ago)

oh you probably meant Scholes though

Number None, Friday, 3 February 2012 14:41 (fourteen years ago)

This could be one of those twice-a-season games in which they wheel out Paulo Ferreira to remind everyone he exists.

Matt DC, Friday, 3 February 2012 14:42 (fourteen years ago)

untried Cahill-Luiz partnership at CB too, this might not be pretty

Ismael Klata, Friday, 3 February 2012 14:46 (fourteen years ago)

Really what I'd like is a nice low-scoring draw that does neither side any favours but the way Chelsea have been playing lately I don't see it. United haven't been very good lately either although winning while being shit is basically what they do.

Matt DC, Friday, 3 February 2012 14:48 (fourteen years ago)

dayove cool (Noodle Vague), Friday, 3 February 2012 15:32 (fourteen years ago)

20 years is quite long enough for an era, I'm fed up with this now

Ismael Klata, Friday, 3 February 2012 15:37 (fourteen years ago)

sometimes the only thing that keeps me going is knowing man u will become shit eventually

I'm going to allow this! (LocalGarda), Friday, 3 February 2012 15:51 (fourteen years ago)

It did kind of happen between the summer of 2001 and about 2006. I mean, United didn't get relegated or anything (and even won the league in 2003) but they were often out of the running during that period and certainly weren't the 'dominant' team.

Monkee Trial (Nasty, Brutish & Short), Friday, 3 February 2012 15:55 (fourteen years ago)

that was a siesta

Number None, Friday, 3 February 2012 15:57 (fourteen years ago)

so we're 6 years into this era, well that's me cheered

Ismael Klata, Friday, 3 February 2012 16:04 (fourteen years ago)

see, you don't even know the true meaning of "shit"!

In fairness, neither do Liverpool.

Matt DC, Friday, 3 February 2012 16:08 (fourteen years ago)

Oh, we were *proper shit* for most of 1986-1990 and I remember that all too well, but that's a looooooong time ago.

Monkee Trial (Nasty, Brutish & Short), Friday, 3 February 2012 16:09 (fourteen years ago)

I don't remember :)

Number None, Friday, 3 February 2012 16:09 (fourteen years ago)

In fairness, neither do Liverpool.

sorry this is a conversation between fans of clubs who have won things

I'm going to allow this! (LocalGarda), Friday, 3 February 2012 16:11 (fourteen years ago)

Mind you, I expect NV will be along to point out that United's 'proper shit' period of lurking around the relegation zone for most of the season then climbing up to a flattering 13th doesn't really compare with Wolves collapsing from 1st to 4th division and having most of their ground closed down.

Monkee Trial (Nasty, Brutish & Short), Friday, 3 February 2012 16:12 (fourteen years ago)

yeah sorry, i started this.

I'm going to allow this! (LocalGarda), Friday, 3 February 2012 16:14 (fourteen years ago)

hey, i'm looking forward to the Wolves "proper shit" revival over the next few years. groundwork's been done.

dayove cool (Noodle Vague), Friday, 3 February 2012 16:32 (fourteen years ago)

anyway it's relative, but also historically coloured. i can remember United in division 2, and i can remember them being part of the background crowd during Liverpool's mid 70s-mid 80s peak. what i object to most about Sky pundit revisionism is that the era when United or Liverpool were not massive clubs with a glorious history is still within living memory (admittedly for old guys). the portrait of an inevitable permanent place at the top table is at least a lie looking backwards, and tho it is far more likely that the current big clubs will keep that status for the foreseeable future, it's still at least feasible that some kind of financial fuckery plus other factors cd finish any club's dominance.

dayove cool (Noodle Vague), Friday, 3 February 2012 16:37 (fourteen years ago)

who knows what Chelsea's post-Abramovich future looks like? who's to say Liverpool won't spend another 20 years not quite reaching their "natural" expectations?

dayove cool (Noodle Vague), Friday, 3 February 2012 16:38 (fourteen years ago)

united were not as effectively ugly as chelsea in the mourinho years, that's all. Ferguson just replaced the parts of the team that were <100% effectively ugly and hey presto

Dr Frogbius (darraghmac), Friday, 3 February 2012 16:47 (fourteen years ago)

Who wants to be an MBM-er?

One of you guys has got to do this btw. C&P from the footcelsior thread and we're in.

Ismael Klata, Friday, 3 February 2012 17:40 (fourteen years ago)

That'd be brilliant. We should pick a game, all do it offline, then post up our attempts for the rest to read.

ailsa, Friday, 3 February 2012 17:48 (fourteen years ago)

Didn't Local Garda have an interview for such a position at one point?

Ismael Klata, Friday, 3 February 2012 18:38 (fourteen years ago)
