since i don't like zooey d and have no idea who lizzy caplan is but am aware that z is a thing for many people (=guys), i'm also curious abt this

i'm team caplan all the way and the episode in no way changed that but seriously i felt like the whole thing was a pretty canny way of addressing how some people feel about zooey and/or her character that made me kind of respect her and the show more

I never liked the show much previously but I totally concur w/ this sentiment. I guess she's sticking around for a bit?

Not a big fan of "Yesterday Once More" and that awkwardly uncomfortable video is not helping.

it's my understanding that Caplan is friends w/ the creator of the show and is just doing an arc for a few episodes, at least for now, although i don't imagine she'll ever join the cast long term

caplan is sardonic and mean and asks u questions about being aware of garfield, zooey is cute and nice and puts smiling lambs on things

lol, that's exactly what i figured based on their pictures and zooey's past/fanbase. team lizzy.

I watched about six minutes of that interview with Diablo Cody (a few posts above). That was plenty enough to kill any illusions I may have had about her extemporaneous speaking ability. Also, there is some kind of a weird thing going on with the right side of her upper lip that was v distracting.

Lizzy Caplan just got signed to a Showtime pilot with Michael Sheen called "Masters of Sex.". Apparently it's about sex researchers who wrote an influential book, and not...other things the title might imply. Anyway idk how that'll end up influencing her arc here.

i think if she ends up on a cult cable show that dudes who think she's hot all reflexively watch then her arc won't change at all

new girl, whatever its faults or merits are, is not really a "please care about these people!" parks & rec type show

Any show that is "please care about these people" is obv. a piece of crap, this is more a "oh who gives a fuck, what's on the other channel" type show

watched the New Girl w/ Lizzy Caplan, show would be 10 million times better with her as 'the new girl.'
and I love me some Kat Dennings, but Caplan would improve the hell out of 2 Broke Girls too

If Caplan had to speak the horrible dialogue they give to Dennings on that show I would die inside.

I caught 5 minutes of that show a few weeks ago (why because Kat Demmings look intersting), and I'm assuming we've already had a huge cluster in the rolling racist thread about the show in general.

we talked about it along those lines in some thread, don't remember if it was that one or maybe one of the tv threads

wasn't very clustery, though, since it's not like anyone held that show's asian stereotype in the same regard as long duk dong or anything

I don't think it was a clusterfuck, everyone pretty much agreed it was racist as hell and beyond redemption.
