Here's a video of the start of my trail 10K a week and a half ago.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EnbA9yN4JPk&list=FLrRAPzA2FRWMzLg5IhXfjHQ&feature=mh_lolz

It was difficult.

Jeff, Wednesday, 1 February 2012 20:41 (fourteen years ago)

i usually run like 7-10 so its a bit of a stretch, but im at my dads in vt for the week and its v beautiful and inspiring around here for running when its not pouring rain

lag∞n, Wednesday, 1 February 2012 20:41 (fourteen years ago)

lol @ racing through the snow, sup w/that one guy in shorts

lag∞n, Wednesday, 1 February 2012 20:43 (fourteen years ago)

i do 7k every other day, schedule and weather permitting. though i guess i've been slacking of late.

omar little, Wednesday, 1 February 2012 20:57 (fourteen years ago)

I should note it was also 16 degrees that day. I was in tights and three top layers and was freezing. And there was a very wet creek crossing.

Jeff, Wednesday, 1 February 2012 20:58 (fourteen years ago)

i was able to get out last night for a quick 4 miles. it was like 55° and awesome

Aerosol, Wednesday, 1 February 2012 20:59 (fourteen years ago)

nice1 dude, sounds like fun (except for the freezing part) xp

lag∞n, Wednesday, 1 February 2012 21:00 (fourteen years ago)

ok i think its for real clearing up now i can see some sky

lag∞n, Wednesday, 1 February 2012 21:00 (fourteen years ago)

keep getting back in my stride, then keep getting sick, fuck you shitty chronic health, i WILL run you into the ground. once the weather improves i guess it'll be easier.

Finally back to running after 18 months off, managed to get through the whole of January without any injuries recurring, so effing glad about this development.

Phibes Kartel (NickB), Wednesday, 1 February 2012 21:13 (fourteen years ago)

so my run yesterday: finallly got out after the rain, took this ~9mi route over this lol hueg hill/v sm mountain featuring a steep ass 2mi climb, at the top it was getting dark so i took this back backroad shortcut that i thought i knew where it came out that ended up being plowed only half way so i ran a half a mile through 3in of super wet snow in the near dark sliding all over the place, also i was inside of a cloud, it came out kinda where i thought and the rest of the run was a few miles of gentle downslope on a muddy slushy icy road in the dark, one of the gnarlier runs ive done, it was needless to say AWESOME

lag∞n, Thursday, 2 February 2012 14:46 (fourteen years ago)

i was impressed how much stronger i was than the first time i did that route a couple years ago and couldnt come close to getting to the top of the hill w/o walking half of it

/braggin sesh fin

lag∞n, Thursday, 2 February 2012 14:48 (fourteen years ago)

lol just mapped it and the shortcut only cut .3mi

lag∞n, Thursday, 2 February 2012 14:50 (fourteen years ago)

yesterday was so great running in shorts on feb 1st. really like this lack of winter

lol @ also i was inside of a cloud,

johnny crunch, Thursday, 2 February 2012 14:56 (fourteen years ago)

ty ;)

lag∞n, Thursday, 2 February 2012 15:23 (fourteen years ago)

Heading out now for a gallop, temperature is exactly freezing point but apart from that it looks like an ideal day.

two lights crew (seandalai), Thursday, 2 February 2012 15:24 (fourteen years ago)

8.2 last night, longest I've run in awhile. Maybe I should run the Chicago marathon again this year.

Jeff, Thursday, 2 February 2012 15:34 (fourteen years ago)

do it

lag∞n, Thursday, 2 February 2012 15:45 (fourteen years ago)

I totally would if I could be sure I wouldn't get injured, be able to run the mileage I want, and finish in 3:55. Piece of cake, right?

Jeff, Thursday, 2 February 2012 16:11 (fourteen years ago)

np

lag∞n, Thursday, 2 February 2012 16:22 (fourteen years ago)

Did a half-marathon in 1:32 on Sunday and was all "Damn bro, you bad" then got an email a couple hours later, confirming what the ol' satellite watch had been trying to tell me during the race: they left an entire mile out of the course. Maybe not so bad after all.

Still felt very good!

tobo73, Thursday, 2 February 2012 16:28 (fourteen years ago)

hah!

lag∞n, Thursday, 2 February 2012 16:30 (fourteen years ago)

still fast tho

lag∞n, Thursday, 2 February 2012 16:31 (fourteen years ago)

once you pass someone never let them repass otherwise ur pussy

otm

it's kinda awkward when you're running at a slightly faster pace than someone ahead of you but only slightly so it takes you ages to overtake unless you speed up

h8 getting overtaken even though i know it's dumb b/c who knows how far the other person has run vis-à-vis you. also h8 coming to a halt if anyone else is around.

i try to avoid gnarly runs but winter sunsets can sneak up on you - couple of weeks ago i left the house wearing prescription shades to run, as i always do. midway through the sun sets and i have to run 6k back home still wearing shades in the dark. along a canal. i didn't fall in or anything but still :(

first period don't give a fuck, second period gon get cut (lex pretend), Thursday, 2 February 2012 16:35 (fourteen years ago)

lag∞n = icey ה/ע

jed_, Friday, 3 February 2012 02:08 (fourteen years ago)

14 miles today. That sort of came out of nowhere.

Jeff, Saturday, 4 February 2012 23:29 (fourteen years ago)

did a similar run to the one from a couple days ago except i took a left after ~3mi instead of a right then climbed a simliar sized hill but it was steeper this time mapmyrun says 600 feet of vert in abt a mile, at the top it was some miles of similarly steep rolling hills then a v steep descent, p brutal overall, tho more beautiful more backwoodsy less cars almost zero cars really, and the conditions as far as weather and light were superior this time, the other run i feel like is better balanced tho

lag∞n, Sunday, 5 February 2012 00:52 (fourteen years ago)

one month passes...

How's it going out there?

Last winter I was such a trooper, going out there in the snow and ice and wind; this winter I've been a bit sluggier and either going to the gym or not going at all. But the weather seems to be on a steady upswing toward perfect (50 and overcast) and I went out yesterday AND IT WAS GREAT.

Looking forward to more running in the near future. (Also I have been derailed by a few notable clumsy events that led to bruises, aches, and pains -- none of them were related to running, though)

Laura Lucy Lynn (La Lechera), Wednesday, 7 March 2012 20:15 (fourteen years ago)

I've been going to running club (a gay running club, of all things) and that's been keeping me going but it's pretty much all the running i've been doing. i need to step it up. looking forward to the light nights coming in.

jed_, Wednesday, 7 March 2012 20:23 (fourteen years ago)

Ran a very disappointing 5K two weeks ago, it was like 2 minutes slower than my PR.

Basically everything is broken on me right now. I have some new orthotics coming in next week, so I hope they help.

Jeff, Wednesday, 7 March 2012 21:07 (fourteen years ago)

Mild winter here in DC = lots of running. Did 12 warm, sunny, springlike miles today and it was great. Looking for a marathon.

tobo73, Wednesday, 7 March 2012 23:16 (fourteen years ago)

You probably missed out on MCM. It sold out in like 5 seconds.

Jeff, Wednesday, 7 March 2012 23:17 (fourteen years ago)

Actually, it was sold out in 2 hours 41 minutes.

Jeff, Wednesday, 7 March 2012 23:17 (fourteen years ago)

That's fast, it took Chicago 6 days to sell out this year.

Jeff, Wednesday, 7 March 2012 23:18 (fourteen years ago)

Yeah I was in the middle of my run this afternoon and it dawned in me that I was missing the sign-up. Would kinda rather do a smaller race anyway. MCM seems like a mobscene.

tobo73, Wednesday, 7 March 2012 23:27 (fourteen years ago)

I've done a 700 ppl marathon and a 38,000 people one. I'd probably like somewhere in the middle.

Jeff, Thursday, 8 March 2012 01:08 (fourteen years ago)

well, i'm a lot lazier than most of you, but i finally managed to get off my ass and run today! i also got some new shoes this evening, so hopefully i should be able to avoid the ankle injury that ended my short-lived running season last fall.

1986 Olive Garden (Z S), Tuesday, 20 March 2012 00:11 (fourteen years ago)

does anyone use runkeeper? if so, let me know and maybe we can be on a "team"? (basically that just means everyone can see each other's routes/times, etc. works for walking/biking and other kinds of exercise too, not just running)

1986 Olive Garden (Z S), Tuesday, 20 March 2012 00:12 (fourteen years ago)

a couple of us signed up for daily mile a bit ago, but I don't know if anyone is still updating it

My house is directly behind the moon I am bored (los blue jeans), Tuesday, 20 March 2012 00:19 (fourteen years ago)

my daily mile was sick for like a month

lag∞n, Tuesday, 20 March 2012 00:29 (fourteen years ago)

I'm still an active dailymile member.
