thank you stet, i like how this change put the emphasis on a post rather than its poster.

i also like how i can't see it making much difference to the posting future of flagbs.

Is it possible for sub-board mods to see flagged posts on their particular boards? It'd make modding them easier.
That's probably not a bad idea at all, actually

This would be good, I think.

can somebody wake up NV and tell him about this

dayo, Wednesday, 1 February 2012 00:35 (fourteen years ago)

I'm just manually sb'ing now by shouting "suggest ban!" at the screen

Yeah, it's not the same innit

future debts collector (Le Bateau Ivre), Wednesday, 1 February 2012 00:47 (fourteen years ago)

I don't know it's got a visceral appeal

I'll get the legendary horn of waking +4

gnome (remy bean), Wednesday, 1 February 2012 00:51 (fourteen years ago)

if not plenty of us could work up versions of the "this is but the terror of suggest ban cloaked in beguiling attire" schtick that'd be his inevitable take on the matter

gotta say i'm not really digging this

what do you press if you just want someone banned for who they are tho

teaky frigger (darraghmac), Wednesday, 1 February 2012 00:56 (fourteen years ago)

i feel like this is going to change by reading habits, like rather than breezing through threads casually sb'ing every other poster at whim i'm going to start scouring threads for actual reprehensible posts

only thing i'm hopin for outta all this is that we get 65 'flag post is a gross violation of my imaginary rights' threads

Not to ruin the festivities and all but I do want to make it clear that this is a well thought out semantic change, but doesn't change anything about the actual functionality that used to be called suggest ban.

so long! (jjjusten), Wednesday, 1 February 2012 01:36 (fourteen years ago)

Man I should really not post from my iPhone when I'm trying to be clear.

can we suggest flag?

frogbs, stills, and nash (Neanderthal), Wednesday, 1 February 2012 01:41 (fourteen years ago)

can we flag double posts or bbcode errors instead of posting in MRF?

It gives me a headache that you have to even point this out, tbh. Its like everyone's caught the dumb.

― tinker tailor soldier sb (silby), Tuesday, January 31, 2012 7:46 PM (1 minute ago)

no, please keep on going to MRF with that sort of stuff -- janitorial stuff, if you will

Rotary Boy of the Month (WmC), Wednesday, 1 February 2012 01:59 (fourteen years ago)

just realized this wasnt a joke thread and noticed the change in links--this is a good thing imo, thanks stet/mods

call all destroyer, Wednesday, 1 February 2012 02:12 (fourteen years ago)

so OK, you can flag multiple posts by the same poster (assuming those posts are being flagged for different reasons or on different occasions/threads), and each time that action will be paid some attention by mods, but otherwise the rules remain the same about 51-unique-posters being the 'total'?

lana del rey: everythang's workin' (some dude), Wednesday, 1 February 2012 02:13 (fourteen years ago)

well that prob was the case w/ sb too

iatee, Wednesday, 1 February 2012 02:15 (fourteen years ago)

yeah i guess i never really was clear on that, whether each SB was actually looked at or just could be looked at it if a mod felt like it, and if a 2nd SB from one poster to another even registered

lana del rey: everythang's workin' (some dude), Wednesday, 1 February 2012 02:19 (fourteen years ago)

can we make it so nobody gets banned?

just want to toss that idea out there

⚓ (gr8080), Wednesday, 1 February 2012 02:20 (fourteen years ago)

it would make ilx a lot cooler, think abt it

⚓ (gr8080), Wednesday, 1 February 2012 02:20 (fourteen years ago)

it would definitely lead to a gift of gabb

dayo, Wednesday, 1 February 2012 02:21 (fourteen years ago)

^^^^

(Or just save banning for serious NewGod-type cases.)

idk why but i laughed

markers, Wednesday, 1 February 2012 02:22 (fourteen years ago)

I know this is a tired old saw from me, and will likely be quoted on a lol thread etc., etc., but: I genuinely believe that if somebody is endangering the, um, spirit of community, sense of trust, or safety or privacy of ILX at large it is in the best interest of the board that there be a mechanism to (at least temporarily) separate them from the system

gnome (remy bean), Wednesday, 1 February 2012 02:27 (fourteen years ago)

tbh the spirit of the community is kind of mean and funny, most of the time
