This appears to be a thing, albeit a thing that makes sense to absolutely no one. Unless Everton desperately want him off their wage bill and we desperately want someone else to sit on our bench.

Matt DC, Tuesday, 31 January 2012 13:18 (fourteen years ago)

Not really. Rangers seems to have drained the life from him, he's been mostly pish all season. Looked OK to start with when he came up here, but not any more.

I think he's of Premier League standard. Good with back to goal, runs the channels, strong, shoots on sight, good goals record, doesn't look overly arsed about anything ever. I'm delighted he's leaving Rangers.

ERIC CANONTA FOR PRESIDETN! (onimo), Tuesday, 31 January 2012 13:19 (fourteen years ago)

Hope Rosie's not involved (xp)

Charles Kennedy Jumped Up, He Called 'Oh No'. (Tom D.), Tuesday, 31 January 2012 13:19 (fourteen years ago)

I'm delighted he's leaving Rangers.

Too right

Charles Kennedy Jumped Up, He Called 'Oh No'. (Tom D.), Tuesday, 31 January 2012 13:20 (fourteen years ago)

I'd rather he stayed, went on strike as a result like he did at Rapid, and drained them of his wages without doing anything in return for the rest of the season.

Still, David Healy up front on his own will be lol in its own delightful way.

ailsa, Tuesday, 31 January 2012 13:22 (fourteen years ago)

fuck's sake, if this is our excuse to get rid of pav i'm gonna stage a dirty protest at work

teaky frigger (darraghmac), Tuesday, 31 January 2012 13:22 (fourteen years ago)

Can only assume we'll be loaning Pienaar back to Everton now? And selling Pav? The idea that Pav is a worse option than a latter day Louis Saha is ridiculous.

Matt DC, Tuesday, 31 January 2012 13:23 (fourteen years ago)

Good old spiders. A Saha deal can only be explained by this: Has The Transfer Market Become Self-Aware?

Ismael Klata, Tuesday, 31 January 2012 13:28 (fourteen years ago)

Hold on, you're staying at White Hart Lane after all that?!

Ismael Klata, Tuesday, 31 January 2012 13:31 (fourteen years ago)

Latest gossip is that the Saha transfer is set to go but only if Spurs fail to sign Rodellega. So Saha is the backup option to the Wigan striker who has scored half as many goals (one) as Saha has put away this season (two).

I can feel that title coming home.

Matt DC, Tuesday, 31 January 2012 14:17 (fourteen years ago)

Just makes no sense whatsoever. You really don't need either imo. Bizarre.

pandemic, Tuesday, 31 January 2012 14:21 (fourteen years ago)

Also both seem kind of stop gap signings which considering adebayor will likely not be there next season leaves you needing to sign maybe 2 top strikers in the summer.

pandemic, Tuesday, 31 January 2012 14:26 (fourteen years ago)

Yeah guys, it's called wheeling and dealing

Number None, Tuesday, 31 January 2012 14:28 (fourteen years ago)

McCarthy out, preferably strapped to a mid-Atlantic bound V2.

summer sun, something's begun, but uh-oh those tumblr whites (Noodle Vague), Tuesday, 31 January 2012 14:29 (fourteen years ago)

OK, that Transfer Market become self-aware thing is awesome !

Jibe, Tuesday, 31 January 2012 14:37 (fourteen years ago)

Paddy McCarthy?

James Mitchell, Tuesday, 31 January 2012 14:49 (fourteen years ago)

So QPR get Zamora as well. Does r/t/c still hang around this parish? Wonder what he makes of it. Think Zamora will do well at QPR.

pandemic, Tuesday, 31 January 2012 14:59 (fourteen years ago)

Oh and BBC claiming Spurs bid for Loic Remy but were rejected. Jibe to thread.

pandemic, Tuesday, 31 January 2012 15:00 (fourteen years ago)

if fulham get barrios that could be a major upgrade though
xp

mizzell, Tuesday, 31 January 2012 15:01 (fourteen years ago)

Corluka has been loaned to Leverkusen for the rest of the season. Not sure who Spurs back up rb is now. kaboul i guess.

mizzell, Tuesday, 31 January 2012 15:02 (fourteen years ago)

Surprised Zamora is leaving tbh.

Saha deal is the LOL of this window tbh

future debts collector (Le Bateau Ivre), Tuesday, 31 January 2012 15:04 (fourteen years ago)

Ooh hadn't heard that mizzell. Yeah Lewandowski has kept him on the bench with his superb form this season. Dortmund have Reus coming so can see why Barrios could go but v risky on their part for the rest of this season I think.
Barrios is v good indeed.

pandemic, Tuesday, 31 January 2012 15:05 (fourteen years ago)

not sure if it will happen cause dortmund also sold apparently sold zidan

mizzell, Tuesday, 31 January 2012 15:13 (fourteen years ago)

Kyrgiakos to Sunderland!

Chris, Tuesday, 31 January 2012 15:17 (fourteen years ago)

He's escaped Magath into the arms of O'Neill!!

zidan hasn't started for dortmund for 2 years it feels like.

pandemic, Tuesday, 31 January 2012 15:18 (fourteen years ago)

now spurs 'linked to' juve's krasic. I have never seen him play well in the dozen games I've seen.

pandemic, Tuesday, 31 January 2012 15:22 (fourteen years ago)

Defoe to Liverpool! Could this day get any better?!

Chris, Tuesday, 31 January 2012 15:23 (fourteen years ago)

maybe if any of these things actually happen

mizzell, Tuesday, 31 January 2012 15:25 (fourteen years ago)

i'm having robbie keane flashbacks
xp
would rather we just bought no-one this window and made do with what we have tbh

pandemic, Tuesday, 31 January 2012 15:26 (fourteen years ago)

hmmm

I like defoe v much but he's not a good fit while we have adebayor. While.

Rodallega's been off the boil for some time too, but at least he's something. Saha for pav is rubbish.

No moves for niko?

teaky frigger (darraghmac), Tuesday, 31 January 2012 15:30 (fourteen years ago)

the only transfer so far involving Scottish clubs during the current transfer window where a fee has been involved, was Dougie Imrie's move to St Mirren from Hamilton Accies (£35,000)

EPL has nothing on the SPL when it comes to deadline day excitement

Charles Kennedy Jumped Up, He Called 'Oh No'. (Tom D.), Tuesday, 31 January 2012 15:31 (fourteen years ago)

tbf one of your 2 biggest clubs are about to go tits up so spl not in need of any more excitement surely.

pandemic, Tuesday, 31 January 2012 15:33 (fourteen years ago)

rangers been about to go tits up for years

teaky frigger (darraghmac), Tuesday, 31 January 2012 15:35 (fourteen years ago)

I'm sure a few strokes have been pulled over the years (with more to come) to ensure that won't happen

Charles Kennedy Jumped Up, He Called 'Oh No'. (Tom D.), Tuesday, 31 January 2012 15:37 (fourteen years ago)

Defoe isn't going to Liverpool, whether he wants to or not.

Matt DC, Tuesday, 31 January 2012 15:42 (fourteen years ago)

phew! i'm holding you to that Matt ;)

pandemic, Tuesday, 31 January 2012 15:43 (fourteen years ago)

God have Fulham really signed Pogrebnyak? He's rubbish.

pandemic, Tuesday, 31 January 2012 16:08 (fourteen years ago)

Defoe to Liverpool can't not happen, it's one of those rare moves where everybody's happy, even Everton.

Ismael Klata, Tuesday, 31 January 2012 16:11 (fourteen years ago)

Rangers confirm that Norwich City have rejected a bid for striker Grant Holt.

Like being offered a starboard side cabin in the Costa Concordia

Charles Kennedy Jumped Up, He Called 'Oh No'. (Tom D.), Tuesday, 31 January 2012 16:57 (fourteen years ago)

long xpost to pandemic : as far as i'm aware, this isn't the first time spurs have shown an interest in loïc rémy. but it's not really a surprise that marseille would tell them off, they're in a bad spot attack wise : they have rémy who is doing quite well, fat gignac who's proving to be as useless as they come (there's so much to tell about this guy), brandao who's just come back after about a year away from marseille after he was accused of rape (dunno how that trial is going along or even if there's one) and jordan ayew who still has to prove himself in ways other than getting carded for stupid fouls just after having been subbed in.

Jibe, Tuesday, 31 January 2012 16:59 (fourteen years ago)

The Mayor's office has offered £8.5million for regeneration around the new football ground.
http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/standard-mayor/article-24032480-spurs-called-on-to-support-area-being-regenerated-after-the-riots.do

James Mitchell, Tuesday, 31 January 2012 17:02 (fourteen years ago)

thx jibe

pandemic, Tuesday, 31 January 2012 17:13 (fourteen years ago)

spurs really only need lb/rw cover/challengers, would sacrifice a midfielder or two for that if necessary.

RIP corluka but even i can't deny walker's there on merit now.

teaky frigger (darraghmac), Tuesday, 31 January 2012 17:18 (fourteen years ago)

We need a big striker who can lead the line in Adebayor's absence. Would take Rodallega for that.

Matt DC, Tuesday, 31 January 2012 17:33 (fourteen years ago)

Pogrebnyak's ok but i can't see him getting more than 8-10 goals a season. Dembele's not going to get any more. Maybe wages are putting them off but they could do worse than trying to take Pav on loan.

Mohombi Khush Hua (ShariVari), Tuesday, 31 January 2012 17:48 (fourteen years ago)

God have Fulham really signed Pogrebnyak? He's rubbish.

really? :( Don't go Bobby Z! :(

kid steel (cajunsunday), Tuesday, 31 January 2012 17:51 (fourteen years ago)

Guardian reckon Bobby Z hitting QPR up for 90G's a week so the deal might not go thru. There's still hope for you and Tracer!

pandemic, Tuesday, 31 January 2012 18:04 (fourteen years ago)

£90,000 a week is the right wage for Bobby Z, but QPR is the wrong club. I'm torn.

Ismael Klata, Tuesday, 31 January 2012 18:15 (fourteen years ago)

whaaat

Wow, didn't see this one coming - Everton's Irish full-back/winger Seamus Coleman is on the move! Details to follow ...
