jeez

Manchester United's goalkeeping crisis deepened on Monday when David de Gea called in sick and Anders Lindegaard left the training ground on crutches.
De Gea was surprisingly recalled to the United line-up in place of Lindegaard for Saturday's FA Cup defeat at Liverpool following a four-match absence, but the young Spaniard was widely criticised for another uncertain performance.
It presented manager Sir Alex Ferguson with a difficult choice ahead of tonight's Premier League clash with Stoke at Old Trafford, but the United manager's options narrowed dramatically yesterday morning.
First, De Gea phoned to say that he was unwell and would not be coming in to train, then Lindegaard was injured during the session at Carrington and went home on crutches with his right foot in a protective boot.

spider, web - lolling now James

I know it's the club kicking him out btw, what I meant was how can he not take one of these second chances? It's not like being a pro footballer is a particularly demanding lifestyle, especially set against the rewards; and I bet Utd have been bending over backwards, if he's as good as everyone says he is.

Is Rio fit?

Ismael Klata, Tuesday, 31 January 2012 10:30 (fourteen years ago)

Rio is a maybe i think.

Number None, Tuesday, 31 January 2012 10:33 (fourteen years ago)

Is Jelavic any good?

Not really. Rangers seems to have drained the life from him, he's been mostly pish all season. Looked OK to start with when he came up here, but not any more.

Everton being stupid afaic forking out money for someone who's probably about to be made redundant shortly anyway.

ailsa, Tuesday, 31 January 2012 10:39 (fourteen years ago)

although it's no doubt an appalling personal choice, i'm enjoying someone just saying 'i'm too good to be a reserve player' when it might actually be true for once

teaky frigger (darraghmac), Tuesday, 31 January 2012 10:43 (fourteen years ago)

Lindegaard apart, I can't imagine Ferguson's impressed with de Gea taking a sickie in face of Huth et al, only a couple of days after being pushed around at Anfield. The lad could've timed it better.

Ismael Klata, Tuesday, 31 January 2012 10:45 (fourteen years ago)

So why not take a loan to a Championship side, rather than a permanent transfer? He's been turfed out. End of story.

Number None, Tuesday, 31 January 2012 10:47 (fourteen years ago)

he might be really sick

teaky frigger (darraghmac), Tuesday, 31 January 2012 10:47 (fourteen years ago)

what a horribly formed "joke"

Number None, Tuesday, 31 January 2012 10:49 (fourteen years ago)

Of course, but do you think that's crossed Ferguson's mind?

Ismael Klata, Tuesday, 31 January 2012 10:50 (fourteen years ago)

My interpretation of the whole saga is that Morrison and agent realised the club had given up, started trying to drum up interest by planting Barcelona/City/whoever rumours and have now had to settle for what they can get.

Number None, Tuesday, 31 January 2012 10:54 (fourteen years ago)

I haven't seen West Ham this year, but from what I hear about them there'd be better places for a Scholes type to play his football.

Ismael Klata, Tuesday, 31 January 2012 10:59 (fourteen years ago)

Morrison probably has some raw talent but is clearly a fuckwit, wouldn't be surprised if Man United had given up on him. If he was actually that good:

- He'd have played more in United's worst injury crisis in years
- He'd be going somewhere a lot better than West Ham. If he's on his way to West Ham it means even QPR don't want him, and they'll buy any old shit.

Matt DC, Tuesday, 31 January 2012 11:02 (fourteen years ago)

No results found for "future ballon d'or winner Ravel Morrison".

James Mitchell, Tuesday, 31 January 2012 11:10 (fourteen years ago)

Djbril Cisse coming back to the Prem then. Judging from what I've seen of Lazio this season QPR fans can expect a minimum of six 30 yard 'shots' per game miles over the bar from him. Exciting.

Will always love him for scoring his pen.

a fearsome partner for olisadebe in cm4, rip

teaky frigger (darraghmac), Tuesday, 31 January 2012 12:26 (fourteen years ago)

Saha to the Tottenham Spiders?

James Mitchell, Tuesday, 31 January 2012 12:59 (fourteen years ago)

Louis Saha? Who hasn't scored in 12 months or whatever?

pandemic, Tuesday, 31 January 2012 13:05 (fourteen years ago)

You say Saha, I zay Zaha

Charles Kennedy Jumped Up, He Called 'Oh No'. (Tom D.), Tuesday, 31 January 2012 13:06 (fourteen years ago)

haha

teaky frigger (darraghmac), Tuesday, 31 January 2012 13:16 (fourteen years ago)

This appears to be a thing, albeit a thing that makes sense to absolutely no one. Unless Everton desperately want him off their wage bill and we desperately want someone else to sit on our bench.

Matt DC, Tuesday, 31 January 2012 13:18 (fourteen years ago)

Not really. Rangers seems to have drained the life from him, he's been mostly pish all season. Looked OK to start with when he came up here, but not any more.

I think he's of Premier League standard. Good with back to goal, runs the channels, strong, shoots on sight, good goals record, doesn't look overly arsed about anything ever. I'm delighted he's leaving Rangers.

ERIC CANONTA FOR PRESIDETN! (onimo), Tuesday, 31 January 2012 13:19 (fourteen years ago)

Hope Rosie's not involved (xp)

Too right

Charles Kennedy Jumped Up, He Called 'Oh No'. (Tom D.), Tuesday, 31 January 2012 13:20 (fourteen years ago)

I'd rather he stayed, went on strike as a result like he did at Rapid, and drained them of his wages without doing anything in return for the rest of the season.

Still, David Healy up front on his own will be lol in its own delightful way.

ailsa, Tuesday, 31 January 2012 13:22 (fourteen years ago)

fuck's sake, if this is our excuse to get rid of pav i'm gonna stage a dirty protest at work

teaky frigger (darraghmac), Tuesday, 31 January 2012 13:22 (fourteen years ago)

Can only assume we'll be loaning Pienaar back to Everton now? And selling Pav? The idea that Pav is a worse option than a latter day Louis Saha is ridiculous.

Matt DC, Tuesday, 31 January 2012 13:23 (fourteen years ago)

Good old spiders. A Saha deal can only be explained by this: Has The Transfer Market Become Self-Aware?

Ismael Klata, Tuesday, 31 January 2012 13:28 (fourteen years ago)

Hold on, you're staying at White Hart Lane after all that?!

Ismael Klata, Tuesday, 31 January 2012 13:31 (fourteen years ago)

Latest gossip is that the Saha transfer is set to go but only if Spurs fail to sign Rodellega. So Saha is the backup option to the Wigan striker who has scored half as many goals (one) as Saha has put away this season (two).

I can feel that title coming home.

Matt DC, Tuesday, 31 January 2012 14:17 (fourteen years ago)

Just makes no sense whatsoever. You really don't need either imo. Bizarre.

pandemic, Tuesday, 31 January 2012 14:21 (fourteen years ago)

Also both seem kind of stop gap signings which considering adebayor will likely not be there next season leaves you needing to sign maybe 2 top strikers in the summer.

pandemic, Tuesday, 31 January 2012 14:26 (fourteen years ago)

Yeah guys, it's called wheeling and dealing

Number None, Tuesday, 31 January 2012 14:28 (fourteen years ago)

McCarthy out, preferably strapped to a mid-Atlantic bound V2.

summer sun, something's begun, but uh-oh those tumblr whites (Noodle Vague), Tuesday, 31 January 2012 14:29 (fourteen years ago)

OK, that Transfer Market become self-aware thing is awesome !

Jibe, Tuesday, 31 January 2012 14:37 (fourteen years ago)

Paddy McCarthy?

James Mitchell, Tuesday, 31 January 2012 14:49 (fourteen years ago)

So QPR get Zamora as well. Does r/t/c still hang around this parish? Wonder what he makes of it. Think Zamora will do well at QPR.

pandemic, Tuesday, 31 January 2012 14:59 (fourteen years ago)

Oh and BBC claiming Spurs bid for Loic Remy but were rejected. Jibe to thread.

pandemic, Tuesday, 31 January 2012 15:00 (fourteen years ago)

if fulham get barrios that could be a major upgrade though
xp

mizzell, Tuesday, 31 January 2012 15:01 (fourteen years ago)

Corluka has been loaned to Leverkusen for the rest of the season. Not sure who Spurs back up rb is now. kaboul i guess.

mizzell, Tuesday, 31 January 2012 15:02 (fourteen years ago)

Surprised Zamora is leaving tbh.

Saha deal is the LOL of this window tbh

future debts collector (Le Bateau Ivre), Tuesday, 31 January 2012 15:04 (fourteen years ago)

Ooh hadn't heard that mizzell. Yeah Lewandowski has kept him on the bench with his superb form this season. Dortmund have Reus coming so can see why Barrios could go but v risky on their part for the rest of this season I think.
Barrios is v good indeed.

pandemic, Tuesday, 31 January 2012 15:05 (fourteen years ago)

not sure if it will happen cause dortmund also sold apparently sold zidan

mizzell, Tuesday, 31 January 2012 15:13 (fourteen years ago)

Kyrgiakos to Sunderland!

Chris, Tuesday, 31 January 2012 15:17 (fourteen years ago)

He's escaped Magath into the arms of O'Neill!!

zidan hasn't started for dortmund for 2 years it feels like.

pandemic, Tuesday, 31 January 2012 15:18 (fourteen years ago)

now spurs 'linked to' juve's krasic. I have never seen him play well in the dozen games I've seen.

pandemic, Tuesday, 31 January 2012 15:22 (fourteen years ago)

Defoe to Liverpool! Could this day get any better?!

Chris, Tuesday, 31 January 2012 15:23 (fourteen years ago)

maybe if any of these things actually happen

mizzell, Tuesday, 31 January 2012 15:25 (fourteen years ago)

i'm having robbie keane flashbacks
xp
would rather we just bought no-one this window and made do with what we have tbh
