Netweather forecaster Paul Michaelwhite said: “The cold spell is in full swing, with ever-deepening cold across the UK. Many regions are barely squeezing above freezing, and feeling colder in brisk easterly winds.

“Lows of -6C to -8C will not be uncommon, with rural spots potentially colder.”

James Mitchell, Thursday, 2 February 2012 09:58 (fourteen years ago)

squeezing the freezing

Mark G, Thursday, 2 February 2012 10:32 (fourteen years ago)

Are they annoyed it has cost £2m? Maybe they shouldn't have had her on the front page for so many years?

Aesop Rizzle (a hoy hoy), Thursday, 2 February 2012 10:34 (fourteen years ago)

I'm not surprised Britain's colder than Iceland - people keep leaving the freezer doors open in there.

Les Tressle (useless chamber), Friday, 3 February 2012 09:54 (fourteen years ago)

It's not "minus" in Farenheit, so it's not that emotive "Below freezing"...

Mark G, Friday, 3 February 2012 09:55 (fourteen years ago)

oh shit one person died taking ecstasy in 10 years. parents, everywhere, shit just got real!

Aesop Rizzle (a hoy hoy), Friday, 3 February 2012 10:55 (fourteen years ago)

Below zero, dude, not below freezing. Water will still freeze outside if your thermometer's old.

Sick Mouthy (Scik Mouthy), Friday, 3 February 2012 10:57 (fourteen years ago)

So if I buy a new thermometer, water will not freeze?

Mark G, Friday, 3 February 2012 10:59 (fourteen years ago)

I hear that once a 16-year old died in a car accident too.

Aesop Rizzle (a hoy hoy), Friday, 3 February 2012 11:02 (fourteen years ago)

Ecstasy deaths not as low as you'd think, though not as high as scaremongers would have you believe.

I think the occasional reporting of such tragedies can be useful - not that I think for a second that the Express would do so in the right manner.

― Mark G, Friday, February 3, 2012 10:59 AM (40 minutes ago)

Buy one that's marked in degrees Kelvin, then the temperature will never go below zero, so water will not freeze!

quad octets or death! (snoball), Friday, 3 February 2012 11:41 (fourteen years ago)

Good point about Ecstasy deaths, there are many more than some people realise, although I'd like to know how many are from a cocktail situation, or even from the 'ecstasy' taken not being MDMA.

Chewshabadoo, Friday, 3 February 2012 11:50 (fourteen years ago)
