On Saturday night I went to Canter's and had a black and white cookie.

Didn't take a picture of it though.

I should have been in Monte Carlo (long story). Instead I went to see Harry Potter, went to a casino in Glasgow to kid on to myself that I was in Monte Carlo, came home, drank myself comatose and felt very sorry for myself indeed.

Stir-fried french fries turns up often in Peruvian food along with rice at the same time.

correct. (and those are fried potatoes in the picture of the mussels-covered-with-onion-slop.)

my Saturday night was god awful (as seen earlier in the thread), but tonight I had fun!

got off work and went to bar with beautiful girl who i kind of have a crush on but she's not interested in me (but whatever it's cool) and it was fun! then i went to her house and met her hot roommates and ate taco bell!

After my usual semi-unplanned disco nap, left for the local bars just as the first snow of the winter began falling. At the gaybar, I dared to play the Dinosaur Jr "Just Like Heaven" cover which inspired a complaint to the bartender. (Like, I keep my mouth shut when it's nonstop Aimee Mann.) See, I alienate strangers even without the help of the internets.

Fortunately my Kirsty MacColl selection had an Elektra recording artist bouncing in her seat, so the night ended happily.

phil-two (phil-two), Monday, 5 December 2005 15:01 (eighteen years ago) link

No, its jukebox somehow came up empty at 3:15 on Saturday night.

I ended up watching F is for Fake, which I had never seen, and I managed to convince myself that the Final Fake was going to be that the sexy lady WAS A MAN, BABY! This position ultimately became untenable.

if i didn't use it there'd be DARKNESS
I really love what you've done with your hair

ohhh that place. i went a couple times when i lived in park slope. werent we all supposed to have a fap at a gaybar before?

phil-two (phil-two), Monday, 5 December 2005 22:05 (eighteen years ago) link

Not in my history. It's fun when the queens aren't bitchin' bout Dinosaur Jr. Thursday nights are pretty good.

Ken, I hope you didn't rent F for Fake from TLA, cuz it's out every time I ask!

The gaybar I was at last night was playing a club remix of Eamon's "I Don't Want You Back."

According to this thread, I've only had one boring Saturday night evah! Oh well, make that 2 now. Not much shakin here, though I enjoyed a ride in the car earlier with the tunes blasting. Odd, seems I did that last time around.

jim wentworth (wench), Sunday, 29 January 2006 05:06 (eighteen years ago) link

In with the wife, watching Lost off bit torrent, listening to some quality music by the likes of Sham 69, Inspiral Carpets, Sultans Of Ping, Conflict, Ol' Dirty Bastard and perennial favourite Grey Cell Green by Ned's Atomic Dustbin.

I've also taken the opportunity to get stuck into the brandy.

Colonel Poo (Colonel Poo), Sunday, 29 January 2006 05:07 (eighteen years ago) link

i've been working, comme toujours. now heading home. for an exciting glass of wine or two. and maybe some (wait for it) cd filing. the cd situation is getting out of hand again.

gypsy mothra (gypsy mothra), Sunday, 29 January 2006 05:09 (eighteen years ago) link

I, too, experienced the majesty of CD filing this evening. I also discussed the possibility of obtaining further shelving from Argos for this purpose.

Colonel Poo (Colonel Poo), Sunday, 29 January 2006 05:10 (eighteen years ago) link

more shelves isn't an option chez nous (je ne sais pas why i'm talking all frenchy tonight), so i'm transferring them from jewel cases into plastic sleeves, magically tripling my storage space.

and making it impossible to ever find anything, of course.

gypsy mothra (gypsy mothra), Sunday, 29 January 2006 05:16 (eighteen years ago) link

ooh, plastic sleeves, good luck with that. ;-)

dancing chicken (Jody Beth Rosen), Sunday, 29 January 2006 05:18 (eighteen years ago) link

Jaq (Jaq), Sunday, 29 January 2006 05:38 (eighteen years ago) link

i went to the local symphony's concert entitled, "HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOZART!" (no comma). my sister plays in it and we got comp tickets. anyway, run of the mill lyric soprano singing mozart arias and making me bitter that she's getting paid to sing and i'm not (even though i'm not a lyric). i spent the evening trying not to strangle offensive southerners who, in addition to clapping between movements and giving a standing ovation at the end of every peice, felt compelled to talk and crinkle candy wrappers through the entire performance.

now i am home, folding my father's laundry and dreading getting up at 6 to drive back to rochester.

ah, BUT i put the cds in there between the booklet and the back cover (which i have to trim wid scixxors to get to fit in the booklet, rendering it completely unresellable, which means i'm stuck with these forever...but in 10 years nobody'll be buying used cds anymore anyway, right?), so that the cds never touch plastic. but whatever. i accumulate these things at a rate such that some attrition would almost be a blessing.

and the wine of the night is a rioja. not bad.

gypsy mothra (gypsy mothra), Sunday, 29 January 2006 06:44 (eighteen years ago) link

but in 10 years nobody'll be buying used cds anymore anyway, right?

or:

there'll be a post-iTunes retro revival for cds, prices will go through the roof, and you've just ruined your pension nest-egg

I spent the last night home, it was the first time in ages I haven't gone anywhere on a Saturday night. I didn't feel like I was missing anything because I had a good reason to stay in: I need to finish this book and write and essay on it before next Wednesday. It was kinda cool to wake up as early as 10AM on a Sunday morning, with the sun shining and me not feeling the slightest bit of a hangover.
