if you approach this show expecting laffs then you are doing it wrong imo

well i certainly dont EXPECT laughs from it anymore, but i dont find the weird half hour dramedy thingie that it is particularly compelling either.

yeah, it's really more of an experiment than a comedy and i love it for that

I liked season 1 was better. I was sort of bored of it by the time I finished season 2. I like the show but I generally prefer his standup.

i like when he just posts "aids" at the end of his tweets for no reason.

He uses filthy language about women…..yes, the C word…and yes, even to describe a woman candidate for Vice President of the United States. It isn’t just Governor Palin he denigrates. He denigrates all women and looks to the crowd to laugh.

it is kinda funny, even that he was asked, because he so obviously contravenes so many no-go areas, but has a reprieve on account of it evidently being thoughtful & obviously layered in reflection and commentary and self-criticism. it's complicated to object to the objection that a guy who calls women cunts shouldn't be the comedian doing the white house dinner, even though i totally think he should be the guy doing the white house dinner. so i guess it is sad that the media is reductive and people are indictable on such flimsy readings of their character.

it is weird though, because "[using] filthy language about women ... He denigrates all women and looks to the crowd to laugh" isn't, actually, to disdainfully quote myself, a flimsy reading of his character in this instance. like the point of not calling women cunts is that you don't call women cunts. it's more, baggage i feel okay about dismissing because i think he's thoughtful, because i think it's okay to have non-compliant voices in a conversation, but that's obviously a weird, nebulous line to walk & one that i wouldn't extend to a whole bunch of other people, &c.

i'm a humorless feminist and no i don't think it's cool for a man to call women cunts, but i've watched a lot of louie's material and i really don't see a sexist thread running through it. if anything, he's always saying how much better women are compared to men.
