i dont think that's exactly right cause were it true in situations where theres a lot of rolled over money itd make sense just to bet every horse, my impression was that there was an overall cap for the number of horses you could bet in all six races

btw factoid it is often a winning proposition to buy every lottery ticket once the pots get big enough, just not logistically feasible

Ok, just saw the pilot. Not bad, not amazing. The soundtrack--Sigur Ros as a horse is euthanized in particular--were distracting. Felt rather unengaged during most of it, yet when it was over I wanted to see more.

No Deadwood, not yet anyway, but I'll keep watching.

Could do without the Massive Attack theme song (good song, wrong fit), the cajun guy, the handsome picks guru, and Dustin Hoffman. Otherwise, good stuff.

i'm a total dustin hoffman stan after seeing straight time. his performance in that one is one of the most committed and convincing and _physical_ performances i've seen.

I like Dustin's Hoffman's good performances. I did not care for him in the pilot of Luck, and also I did not care for him in Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium.

yeah from evidence of pilot episode, he is not doing much to make his character likable (sp?) or easy to read

Haven't seen the show, but that NYT descrip of "detente" btwn Milch and Mann made me laugh. They must've nearly gouged each other's eyes out.
