I can't wait for Wednesday.

Melissa W (Melissa W), Monday, 3 October 2005 21:55 (twenty years ago)

I can't wait for Wednesday.

jeffrey (johnson), Monday, 3 October 2005 23:05 (twenty years ago)

It's become harder to take Veronica as a high-school student since I found out she's older than I am.

But yeah, still way way better than Lost.

milozauckerman (miloaukerman), Tuesday, 4 October 2005 02:58 (twenty years ago)

Ooh! Tonight!

Melissa W (Melissa W), Wednesday, 5 October 2005 08:44 (twenty years ago)

*bump*

Melissa W (Melissa W), Wednesday, 5 October 2005 19:49 (twenty years ago)

I don't think anyone who likes VM has forgotten about this thread for about 12 hours.

Leeeeeeeee (Leee), Wednesday, 5 October 2005 20:25 (twenty years ago)

uh being in the UK and generally pretty forgetful I actually find it useful when melissa revives this thread but maybe that's just me... the same goes for when the curb thread is revived on the monday

cozen (Cozen), Wednesday, 5 October 2005 20:29 (twenty years ago)

Have any of America's Other Top Models made UPN cameos (the now-dead teacher in this was S4's winner)?

milozauckerman (miloaukerman), Wednesday, 5 October 2005 20:33 (twenty years ago)

i like revivals.

jeffrey (johnson), Wednesday, 5 October 2005 23:27 (twenty years ago)

Eva was on one of the "ethnic" sitcoms.

Can I say whoever monkeyed with the bus, I hate you? You killed Naima!

Leeeeeeeee (Leee), Wednesday, 5 October 2005 23:59 (twenty years ago)

You people disappoint.

The ep was a little uneven, but that was made up by a lot of moments of awesomeness.

Duncan/Teddy Dunn needs to get the hell off of my television screen, though.

Melissa W (Melissa W), Thursday, 6 October 2005 05:11 (twenty years ago)

Steve Guttenberg is painfull to watch.

milozauckerman (miloaukerman), Thursday, 6 October 2005 14:17 (twenty years ago)

I bet it was the Beave who sabotaged the bus~

Leeeeeeeeee (Leee), Monday, 10 October 2005 00:19 (twenty years ago)

guttenberg is killing me but kevin smith's turn in this was actually pretty good ("and then I read something online...")

I thought this ep was great - it's going to be hard for the second series to be as jaw-droppingly great as the first, given that it was new back then but it's really working on it

cozen (Cozen), Monday, 10 October 2005 18:38 (twenty years ago)

See what happens when I don't bump the thread?

Tonight's was a lot better than last week.

Melissa W (Melissa W), Thursday, 13 October 2005 03:32 (twenty years ago)

It seems more action-packed this season, with a lot more of plot twists. Since they don't need as many scenes to establish stuff like Veronica's relationship with her dad, the episodes (in particular this one) have been very well-paced. The best part is that a lot of dynamics are gonna shift drastically, like blonde surfer dude totally hating on Veronica for bringing down her dad, his best friend for doing his dad's wife and his brother for being such a spineless rat.

They've also separated the Casablancas storyline and the bus crash one (by seemingly directing it towards Aaron Echolls), at least momentarily. In fact, there hasn't been as many standalones. As a result, there are a lot of different storylines being advanced each episode, probably all towards one single denouement.

alex in montreal (alex in montreal), Thursday, 13 October 2005 23:29 (twenty years ago)

I watched my first episode last night...this show is good. I wish I would've been on the bandwagon sooner!

M@tt He1geson (Matt Helgeson), Friday, 14 October 2005 00:01 (twenty years ago)

still love this show. I think the second season is doing a good job so far, I wasn't sure how it would play out. I havent watched the episode from last night yet though!!! I think I might go buy the first season dvd this weekend.

gunther heartymeal (keckles), Friday, 14 October 2005 00:24 (twenty years ago)

That was great, definitely the best episode I've seen thus far for pacing, dialogue and foreshadowing.

Are You Nomar? (miloaukerman), Friday, 14 October 2005 03:47 (twenty years ago)

i think they've hit their stride with a "formula" that kicks in some sort of resolution to a dangling plot issue some point mid-episode, but in a surprising way, then works its way up to a big cliffhanger at the end of each, so that it keeps feeding the "what next" addiction.

Sterling Clover (s_clover), Friday, 14 October 2005 03:54 (twenty years ago)

I'm surprised no one mentioned Courtney Taylor-Taylor's appearance, which is worth it just for Upstaged Karaoke Guy's and his girlfriend's reactions.

alex in montreal (alex in montreal), Friday, 14 October 2005 17:03 (twenty years ago)

I don't see what happened when you didn't bump the thread. It gets revived a couple days late?

Leeeeeeeeee (Leee), Friday, 14 October 2005 17:09 (twenty years ago)

But whatever, don't mean to be a ho. Sorry.

I like this show! I make sure to watch it after Lost so as to end my TV night on a guaranteed high note.

Leeeeeeeeee (Leee), Friday, 14 October 2005 17:14 (twenty years ago)

was a GREAT episode

but was that the dandy warhols guy, lip sinking?

poor old beaver and his sad-face

cozen (Cozen), Friday, 14 October 2005 17:42 (twenty years ago)

The Music of Veronica Mars says yes! Except that he wasn't lip syncing, I don't think!

Was VM this indie last season?

Leeeeeeeeee (Leee), Friday, 14 October 2005 17:51 (twenty years ago)

OH I didn't think he was lip syncing

cozen (Cozen), Friday, 14 October 2005 17:52 (twenty years ago)

Wait, why was there like 5 minutes of random karaoke in the middle of the show this week? Just because they can get a guy from the Dandy Warhols?

The Yellow Kid, Friday, 14 October 2005 17:53 (twenty years ago)

yeah I dunno

cozen (Cozen), Friday, 14 October 2005 17:53 (twenty years ago)

Buffy did that on occasion. I guess it helps pay the bills or something.

Is it just me or is the new girl from New York an atrocious actress? That's the one element that gets to me sometimes - the unmistakable air of low-budget TVdom, complete with F-list actors (Harry Hamlin, teh Guttenberg) and tiny locations. They would have been better off casting at least the latter to a complete unknown (I haven't watched my first season DVDs, maybe Hamlin's awesome). At least they don't have to skimp on monster costumes (ala Buffy on UPN).

Are You Nomar? (miloaukerman), Friday, 14 October 2005 17:57 (twenty years ago)

I somehow taped abc family all morning. So instead of getting to watch Veronica Mars I was faced with instead, HOURS OF FULL HOUSE. So I am downloading the episode right now and have to wait forever again.

gunther heartymeal (keckles), Friday, 14 October 2005 17:58 (twenty years ago)

totally worth it!!

cozen (Cozen), Friday, 14 October 2005 17:59 (twenty years ago)

i am excited abt watching it tonight.

jeffrey (johnson), Friday, 14 October 2005 18:27 (twenty years ago)

maybe Hamlin's awesome

Strangely, he totally is.

Melissa W (Melissa W), Saturday, 15 October 2005 06:28 (twenty years ago)

ok, I agree, this episode was great. I like that he isn't hitting us in the head with what the main mystery is this year. There are kind of a lot of things going on, and it's making for a nice transition. Some great moments from this episode: that veronica LOVES unicorns, when duncan and logan have the talk after their fight. I just love logan's angst, still.

gunther heartymeal (keckles), Saturday, 15 October 2005 15:42 (twenty years ago)

i was right to be excited.

jeffrey (johnson), Saturday, 15 October 2005 17:21 (twenty years ago)

good but ruined, in a way, by the dandy warhols guy

what a mistake

RJG (RJG), Sunday, 16 October 2005 23:02 (twenty years ago)

sorry.

jeffrey (johnson), Sunday, 16 October 2005 23:07 (twenty years ago)

I downloaded the first season and watched it all this week and now I'm hooked and can't wait to get up to speed on the new season. What a great show.

polyphonic (polyphonic), Monday, 17 October 2005 06:50 (twenty years ago)

You just say that because it's set near San Diego!

Leeeeeeeeee (Leee), Monday, 17 October 2005 17:33 (twenty years ago)

It doesn't hurt. ;)

Whoa, someone on this board knew something about me.

I like the fact that when they go to Mexico, they never go any further than Ensenada, which is basically the exact story of me and all my friends.

polyphonic (polyphonic), Monday, 17 October 2005 18:18 (twenty years ago)

All your Padres big upping is what set it in stone. ; )

Do people here know that Weevil is FRANK CAPRA'S grandson?

Leeeeeeeeee (Leee), Monday, 17 October 2005 18:28 (twenty years ago)

It's that time again.

Melissa W (Melissa W), Wednesday, 19 October 2005 22:27 (twenty years ago)

Do people know that Weevil was in Shaquille O'Neal's Kazaam!?

polyphonic (polyphonic), Wednesday, 19 October 2005 22:29 (twenty years ago)

He was also in one of the Free Willy movies.

Melissa W (Melissa W), Wednesday, 19 October 2005 22:45 (twenty years ago)

I love it when Sheriff Mars gets physical with a perp. They switch to a super-wide lens, get all hand-held and he goes crazy for a couple of minutes. So much better than any cop show still on TV.

Are You Nomar? (miloaukerman), Sunday, 23 October 2005 06:43 (twenty years ago)

Melissa's falling down on the job.

Are You Nomar? (miloaukerman), Thursday, 27 October 2005 04:00 (twenty years ago)

I blame me.

REALLY good episode, which is the par, it seems!

Leeeeeeeeee (Leee), Thursday, 27 October 2005 04:08 (twenty years ago)

It's amazing how much more I enjoy a show when I actually care about the characters. Lost had better get good fast or I'm switching to VM full time.

Are You Nomar? (miloaukerman), Thursday, 27 October 2005 04:13 (twenty years ago)

I watched the dvd. This show is consistantly better than Lost with less annoying characters. The directors of Lost have no sense of pacing. I also love Logan, though find him unattractive. Just goes to show how much girls love assholes.

Mendoza Lineman (Carey), Thursday, 27 October 2005 15:09 (twenty years ago)

enough of the adversarial LOST nonsense, please
