no messin, kightly the last day even looked a player could do more for lfc than eg adam or yon lad from sundlund

teaky frigger (darraghmac), Tuesday, 24 January 2012 01:54 (fourteen years ago)

xp!

teaky frigger (darraghmac), Tuesday, 24 January 2012 01:54 (fourteen years ago)

i lolled at the thought of mcgeady there, but fuckit the guy stretches the opposition defence at least, would be something difft?

I didn't see the much-maligned setup vs stoke, was it a back three with enrique/johnson flanking? Might be worth a run, that.

teaky frigger (darraghmac), Tuesday, 24 January 2012 01:56 (fourteen years ago)

aiden is having a fun time at spartak tho

The term “hipster racism” from Carmen Van Kerckhove at Racialicious (nakhchivan), Tuesday, 24 January 2012 01:59 (fourteen years ago)

xp. yep. baffled by it, but the back 3 wasn't really the problem tbh, we were just clueless in attack (although could've taken one of them off in the 2nd half when it was clear we were fucked).

Chris, Tuesday, 24 January 2012 02:24 (fourteen years ago)

xposts. i believe juan agudelo was just training with the squad. don't think a transfer is on the cards.

Chris, Tuesday, 24 January 2012 02:25 (fourteen years ago)

no, i can see a back three and wingbacks suiting the personnel available alright, but it won't come together in only one or two matches.

teaky frigger (darraghmac), Tuesday, 24 January 2012 02:28 (fourteen years ago)

Kights is starting to look like a proper Prem winger altho it's hard to tell whether anybody in Wolves can play while nobhead is in charge. really quite surprised McCarthy's still in a job tonight, this "stand by your manager no matter how shit" trend is painful tbh

summer sun, something's begun, but uh-oh those tumblr whites (Noodle Vague), Tuesday, 24 January 2012 02:41 (fourteen years ago)

never mind that get yr arse to the bullying thread

teaky frigger (darraghmac), Tuesday, 24 January 2012 02:43 (fourteen years ago)

spurs have been linked with some scottish chap named forrest who i gather is a pacy winger.

mizzell, Tuesday, 24 January 2012 03:52 (fourteen years ago)

a right sided one i hope?

That should allow us to clear out pienaar at least

teaky frigger (darraghmac), Tuesday, 24 January 2012 03:54 (fourteen years ago)

Plays best on the right. Scored 8 goals this season. Cracking wee player but at 19 is just a prospect thus far. Should not go to a big prem team if he wants to develope imo. Looks about 12.

zverotic discourse (jim in glasgow), Tuesday, 24 January 2012 03:57 (fourteen years ago)

he'd def only be cover, but then lennon misses a fair few games too and harry's not afraid of youth

teaky frigger (darraghmac), Tuesday, 24 January 2012 03:59 (fourteen years ago)

McGeady might be worth a gamble for ten million but Spartak value him at about three time that amount. Might have provided better value than the 20m-plus players they did buy, though.

Does anyone know when the Redknapp trial is expected to finish?

Mohombi Khush Hua (ShariVari), Tuesday, 24 January 2012 08:48 (fourteen years ago)

right after 'guilty'

teaky frigger (darraghmac), Tuesday, 24 January 2012 09:09 (fourteen years ago)

It's down for two weeks, so next Friday. It's not uncommon for things to wrap up quite rapidly after the meat of it has been heard, so might be a bit earlier.

Ismael Klata, Tuesday, 24 January 2012 09:11 (fourteen years ago)

Thanks.

Mohombi Khush Hua (ShariVari), Tuesday, 24 January 2012 09:12 (fourteen years ago)

It's down for two weeks

at least 6 months, surely?

summer sun, something's begun, but uh-oh those tumblr whites (Noodle Vague), Tuesday, 24 January 2012 09:14 (fourteen years ago)

McGeady might be worth a gamble for ten million but Spartak value him at about three time that amount

Really hoping someone falls for that as it'll fetch Celtic another £3m sell-on fee on top of the £9m we already took them for.

Dalglish owes us a favour or two

Charles Kennedy Jumped Up, He Called 'Oh No'. (Tom D.), Tuesday, 24 January 2012 10:41 (fourteen years ago)

Forest can have the odd quiet game but he's been a match winner on many occasions and will continue to improve. I'd rather have him in my team than £30m rated Aiden McGeady.

ERIC CANONTA FOR PRESIDETN! (onimo), Tuesday, 24 January 2012 10:42 (fourteen years ago)

Danger is he'd be Shaun Maloney Mk. II if he left just now

Charles Kennedy Jumped Up, He Called 'Oh No'. (Tom D.), Tuesday, 24 January 2012 10:43 (fourteen years ago)

30m rated gtfo

teaky frigger (darraghmac), Tuesday, 24 January 2012 10:45 (fourteen years ago)

or a team could just spend 15m on honda or elia and not have to worry about scotching their team

Or irishing their pints

Charles Kennedy Jumped Up, He Called 'Oh No'. (Tom D.), Tuesday, 24 January 2012 10:46 (fourteen years ago)

lol

teaky frigger (darraghmac), Tuesday, 24 January 2012 10:47 (fourteen years ago)

30m rated gtfo

I'm only quoting Spartak's valuation!

I'm hoping if I call him "£30m Spartak star Aiden McGeady" in enough places it'll become true.

ERIC CANONTA FOR PRESIDETN! (onimo), Tuesday, 24 January 2012 11:33 (fourteen years ago)

ha yeah not aimed at yourself but y'know

teaky frigger (darraghmac), Tuesday, 24 January 2012 11:57 (fourteen years ago)

spurs have picked up 8 points from 7 matches vs 'top 7' opponents

Defoe scores every 113 mins, adebayor every 189

VDV has scored once in 12.

Can trace everything there, directly or indirectly, back to unwillingness to rotate the squad for the softer games imo.

teaky frigger (darraghmac), Tuesday, 24 January 2012 12:33 (fourteen years ago)

if Arry's aim is the Champions League rather than winning the title then maybe it makes sense for him to go all out against the weaker opposition and rack points up that way.

i mean clearly it makes sense because there you are.

summer sun, something's begun, but uh-oh those tumblr whites (Noodle Vague), Tuesday, 24 January 2012 12:35 (fourteen years ago)

Don't think we really need to rotate the squad that much, they're only playing once a week if that and have been rested for European and cup games. VDV is the only one really flagging that I can see and Defoe definitely deserves a run in the team now.

Matt DC, Tuesday, 24 January 2012 12:44 (fourteen years ago)

spurs have picked up 8 points from 7 matches vs 'top 7' opponents

Blackburn have picked up 7 from 8.

ERIC CANONTA FOR PRESIDETN! (onimo), Tuesday, 24 January 2012 12:48 (fourteen years ago)

vdv has been flagging since day one, tbf, it's more that lately his free role space is being a little impeded by bale/lennon switching- shifting reliance for goals/assists from two players to five is a good thing in itself, really, to double back on myself completely

teaky frigger (darraghmac), Tuesday, 24 January 2012 12:49 (fourteen years ago)

isolated, being battered by city sans a midfield and with crouch up front, that's fine, they were rampant at that stage

Utd, we matched under those conditions for an hour, that was ok

We beat lfc and arsenal, drew away to newcastle

Don't know the other result off top of my head?

Not really a disaster, as long as we don't eg draw with wolves at home

teaky frigger (darraghmac), Tuesday, 24 January 2012 12:55 (fourteen years ago)

Spurs might be the only team we've consistently done well against since we came up

summer sun, something's begun, but uh-oh those tumblr whites (Noodle Vague), Tuesday, 24 January 2012 13:01 (fourteen years ago)

oh yes!

Spurs might be the only team we've consistently done well against since we came up

this has never not been true historically

teaky frigger (darraghmac), Tuesday, 24 January 2012 22:10 (fourteen years ago)

I wonder if Kia Joorabchian is paying 20% of that?

Just read that a new jury has to be selected at 'arry's trial after a Guardian journalist tweeted a juror's name. It'll be good to get a few fresh faces in and have a proper go.

teaky frigger (darraghmac), Wednesday, 25 January 2012 17:41 (fourteen years ago)

I read about the reselection on twitter so [citation needed] tbh but I found this:

http://www.pressgazette.co.uk/story.asp?sectioncode=1&storycode=48623&c=1

Use of Twitter has been banned from the tax evasion trial of Harry Redknapp after a journalist named a juror on the social networking site.

The same reporter, who is understood to be a staff journalist with Guardian News and Media, is believed to have also reported the evidence of a witness given under oath when the jury was not present.

Both breaches have resulted in the judge banning the use of Twitter and ‘live text' at the trial and referring the case to the Attorney General, Dominic Grieve.

ERIC CANONTA FOR PRESIDETN! (onimo), Wednesday, 25 January 2012 17:44 (fourteen years ago)

The Tottenham Hotspur manager had told investigators looking into corruption in the Premier League in 2006 that he was "sick and tired" of suspicion repeatedly falling on him.

A jury heard on Wednesday that he had told Nigel Layton from the firm Quest, which was conducting the investigation into alleged "bungs" associated with Premiership transfers, that a friend had told him: "Harry, I can't believe it's always you. The problem with you is you're named Harry and you have a cockney accent."

"People don't know me," Redknapp had continued, "and I'm getting sick and tired of it … If there's any mud to be thrown I seem to be on the end of it, for some reason."

Why 'always 'im?

James Mitchell, Wednesday, 25 January 2012 17:47 (fourteen years ago)

guardian live blogging anything that moves. tossers.

pandemic, Wednesday, 25 January 2012 17:48 (fourteen years ago)

Oops, maybe a mod better take my last post down as well?

Reporting things happening that the jury can't see is just ... uhh

wtf

Paul Kelso @pkelso
Redknapp told police: "I have a big problem, I can't write. I can't even fill in a team sheet. I write like a 2-year old and can't spell."

Miguel Delaney @MiguelDelaney
Redknapp apparently filled in Assou-Ekotto's name on the Uefa list as 'Benwaar'. That's not a joke.
