when you're aiming to consolidate in the top 8 then you've no business paying over 50k so i guess they'll be ok

tbh any club in the country shouldn't be looking to pay more than straight 50k per player (before performance related bonuses), bar the captain and top two names. but you know

tbh spurs may be even better pound-for-pound. although i guess the carroll money skews the outcome a bit.

tbh need to stop saying tbh tbh

Aesop Rizzle (a hoy hoy), Wednesday, 18 January 2012 07:22 (fourteen years ago)

I wonder if any other clubs were in for him.

p sure there are no super quality strikers on the market atm

"What's so special about Arsenal is the family atmosphere and the warmth," Van Persie said. "When you come in here, you're always welcomed like a brother. Mikel Arteta (the summer signing from Everton) played against us for years but he walks into the dressing-room and he's one of us.

"The kit men, Vic and Paul Akers, have worked at the club for years. They love the club and they do everything for us; outfits, shoes, balls but, also, when I want to go to Disney on Ice, they arrange it. They represent the true Arsenal feeling and we've got some more like these men."

James Mitchell, Wednesday, 18 January 2012 09:11 (fourteen years ago)

We're fucked.

James Mitchell, Wednesday, 18 January 2012 09:13 (fourteen years ago)

Ismael Klata, Wednesday, 18 January 2012 09:34 (fourteen years ago)

Aesop Rizzle (a hoy hoy), Wednesday, 18 January 2012 12:29 (fourteen years ago)

another MLS goalscorer from the past couple of years is trialing with a struggling prem side -- sebastien le toux to bolton?

long duk dan (dan m), Wednesday, 18 January 2012 18:41 (fourteen years ago)

I'll take whatever we can get tbh.

encarta it (Gukbe), Wednesday, 18 January 2012 18:44 (fourteen years ago)

so not baller

Red Bulls defender (for now at least) Tim Ream was at Old Trafford on Saturday to take in Bolton’s Premier League match against Manchester United, a 3-0 victory for the Red Devils.

Reached by text message Saturday morning and asked if he was in the stands Ream responded, “No, in a box.”

When the U.S. national team defender was asked if he could handle a phone call later Saturday he wrote, “Yah, when I get a new international number so I’m not paying an arm and a leg.”

Ream, 23, probably will not have to worry about those expenses much longer. He is expected to be introduced by Bolton early this week in a deal that will substantially increase his modest M.L.S. salary from last season, which was listed as $62,625.

mizzell, Wednesday, 18 January 2012 18:46 (fourteen years ago)

definitely talent to be had on the cheap here -- le toux had a so-so 2011 w/ 11 goals in 34 games, but in 2010 he had 14 in 28, plus 11 assists. his salary for last year is listed at $179k.

long duk dan (dan m), Wednesday, 18 January 2012 18:49 (fourteen years ago)

It's just nice to be able to aspire to footballer wages for once.

Ismael Klata, Wednesday, 18 January 2012 18:53 (fourteen years ago)

lfc appear to have gotten a good kit deal, i don't understand there being a story here tbh

(govtname)mac (darraghmac), Thursday, 19 January 2012 11:37 (fourteen years ago)

The adidas ones have been mostly rubbish. Too much going on. I hope the new guys revert to classic simplicity.

Ismael Klata, Thursday, 19 January 2012 11:55 (fourteen years ago)

hmm.

Shanghai Shenhua claim they were in talks to sign striker Didier Drogba just a month after landing his Chelsea team-mate Nicolas Anelka. Shenhua owner Zhu Jun said: "It's like flirting with a girl. Perhaps she will resist you at first, but if you continue to ask her out, it always ends well. Never give up.

kid steel (cajunsunday), Thursday, 19 January 2012 12:09 (fourteen years ago)

Zhu Jun sounds like a rapey character.

Aesop Rizzle (a hoy hoy), Thursday, 19 January 2012 12:12 (fourteen years ago)

Yes he does. a bit too rapey for my liking

kid steel (cajunsunday), Thursday, 19 January 2012 12:13 (fourteen years ago)

(govtname)mac (darraghmac), Thursday, 19 January 2012 12:14 (fourteen years ago)

Charles Kennedy Jumped Up, He Called 'Oh No'. (Tom D.), Thursday, 19 January 2012 12:15 (fourteen years ago)

Aesop Rizzle (a hoy hoy), Thursday, 19 January 2012 12:15 (fourteen years ago)

Charles Kennedy Jumped Up, He Called 'Oh No'. (Tom D.), Thursday, 19 January 2012 12:28 (fourteen years ago)

Looks like Onuoha to QPR is a thing. Decent signing I think?

Matt DC, Thursday, 19 January 2012 12:28 (fourteen years ago)

always liked onouha, maybe not as a top 4 player but as 4th best english right back. kinda like warnock.

Aesop Rizzle (a hoy hoy), Thursday, 19 January 2012 12:35 (fourteen years ago)

he's never 4th best!

(govtname)mac (darraghmac), Thursday, 19 January 2012 12:37 (fourteen years ago)

warnock or onouha?

Aesop Rizzle (a hoy hoy), Thursday, 19 January 2012 12:38 (fourteen years ago)

warnock was prob 3rd best lb option for a while, but i meant onouha at rb

Smalling, richards, johnson, walker and i'm not even stretching, kelly at liverpool, naughton, phil nev maybe, gnev maybe,

(govtname)mac (darraghmac), Thursday, 19 January 2012 12:45 (fourteen years ago)

I applaud the Herculean levels of restraint it must have taken for you not to put Rooney in there.

Matt DC, Thursday, 19 January 2012 12:49 (fourteen years ago)

^^^^^^^this

Aesop Rizzle (a hoy hoy), Thursday, 19 January 2012 12:52 (fourteen years ago)

Also Onouha's a centre-back really? Ditto Smalling.

Matt DC, Thursday, 19 January 2012 12:53 (fourteen years ago)

So the JTW has been p dead... Cahill happened...

Blimey FFP is going to be boring until clubs start going under.

Aesop Rizzle (a hoy hoy), Thursday, 19 January 2012 12:54 (fourteen years ago)

Yeah! Die, Darlington, Die!

Ismael Klata, Thursday, 19 January 2012 12:57 (fourteen years ago)

definitely the overreaction i am having.

Aesop Rizzle (a hoy hoy), Thursday, 19 January 2012 12:58 (fourteen years ago)

i'm off the rooney rb trip, pour one out for my homie suedey ;_;

Yeah jan's been dead, it's a problematic window historically tbf

(govtname)mac (darraghmac), Thursday, 19 January 2012 12:59 (fourteen years ago)

Drogba and Malouda are on their way.

James Mitchell, Thursday, 19 January 2012 13:03 (fourteen years ago)

In fact, without meaning to prejudice a trial, think about why Drogba and Malouda want out of EBJT's Chelsea.

James Mitchell, Thursday, 19 January 2012 13:03 (fourteen years ago)

pfft this time last year i think suarez was about to sign which in turn made the lols to end all lols begin

Aesop Rizzle (a hoy hoy), Thursday, 19 January 2012 13:03 (fourteen years ago)

So the JTW has been p dead

Didn't the whole Torres/Carroll madness happen on the very last day?

Cuthbert, Dibble & Grubb (Nasty, Brutish & Short), Thursday, 19 January 2012 15:47 (fourteen years ago)

last ten mins

(govtname)mac (darraghmac), Thursday, 19 January 2012 15:49 (fourteen years ago)

we'd had suarez and dzeko by now

Aesop Rizzle (a hoy hoy), Thursday, 19 January 2012 15:58 (fourteen years ago)

Liverpool signing w/ Warrior is kinda lol for some reason, I had no idea they did anything but hockey gear

long duk dan (dan m), Thursday, 19 January 2012 16:15 (fourteen years ago)

don't think they did till recently when they got a deal with the red sox.

mizzell, Thursday, 19 January 2012 16:18 (fourteen years ago)

QPR getting Taiwo from Milan, that seems like a good signing.

mizzell, Friday, 20 January 2012 00:17 (fourteen years ago)

(govtname)mac (darraghmac), Friday, 20 January 2012 00:19 (fourteen years ago)
