I am a gay guy at a music festival. It's Jenny's hat. That was 2004 at Intonation n/k/a Pitchfork. That was the day I first time I met Kenan. He gave me slugs off his Jim Beam and then a deep kiss - being silly, not making out.

Eric, I think a horseshoe mustache could look good on you. On some guys it's super hot.

Je55e, Monday, 16 January 2012 19:00 (fourteen years ago)

u and kenan kissed on the lips?

surm, Monday, 16 January 2012 19:02 (fourteen years ago)

surm, Monday, 16 January 2012 19:06 (fourteen years ago)

I can't wait til goatees come back. They are underappreciated indeed.

they are so on the verge

judith, Monday, 16 January 2012 19:13 (fourteen years ago)

We were just being goofy. But yes, lips, and also tongue.

xp

Je55e, Monday, 16 January 2012 19:14 (fourteen years ago)

surm, Monday, 16 January 2012 19:16 (fourteen years ago)

I should try that sometime.

Wow, have we ever talked abt how we were both at this?

lost ai weiwei (Stevie D(eux)), Monday, 16 January 2012 19:36 (fourteen years ago)

I've met tons of straight guys who love to be "goofy" about same-sex stuff in a Jackass kind of way. Especially when I worked in restaurants and when I used to go to house parties w/ more 20-somethings. They did it for laughs.

I used to work with two straight guys who put on a show by talking sexy ("sexy") and rub each other's dicks through their pants as a joke. One of them got a new girlfriend who stormed out of the bar in a shit fit the first time she saw them do that. The other guy's GF soothed her, but she was never OK with it.

xp - I don't think we have! It was the first time many of the ChiLX people met: Jenny, Jeff, and I knew each other, obv., and we met La Lechera, jaymc, n/a, and Sarah (his wife, I forget her screen name).

Je55e, Monday, 16 January 2012 19:40 (fourteen years ago)

i thought la lechera was a much newer poster than that

judith, Monday, 16 January 2012 19:41 (fourteen years ago)

I think she was The Milkmaid previously? Not sure.

Je55e, Monday, 16 January 2012 19:44 (fourteen years ago)

I've kissed a couple of theoretical straight guys; no tongue though.

I would like to have organized a gay FAP in Chicago this weekend but I was only there a couple days. Hung out with sarge and his boy on Saturday night and can confirm that he chose well. sarge too.

when I can get ahold of my Dorothy Michaels glasses again.

hmmm, seeing u & Stephen Merchant in a very tall reboot of Bosom Buddies

Dr Morbois de Bologne (Dr Morbius), Tuesday, 17 January 2012 02:47 (fourteen years ago)

I've kissed a couple of theoretical straight guys; no tongue though.

The straight guys who I kissed or groped or was groped by were definitely straight, but we were also definitely just goofing.

Especially in NC - where I never had a gay friend, so I hung out w/ a lot of straight guys - I was the training wheels gay for bros to be tolerant of. Given enough booze, this led them to want to confront taboos like another guy doing body shots out of his girlfriend's navel or boobs or poking another guy's dick.

Je55e, Tuesday, 17 January 2012 03:09 (fourteen years ago)

Alfred, what brought you go Chicago?

Je55e, Tuesday, 17 January 2012 03:10 (fourteen years ago)

At the time it was gratifying to be the special gay that defeated homophobia, but thinking back, I heard "I like Jesse b/c he's gay, but not like other gay guys," which is pretty fucked up. If someone said that now we would commence a Very Special Episode.

Someone forced you?

dor Dumbeddownball (Eric H.), Tuesday, 17 January 2012 18:48 (fourteen years ago)

lumber up, limbaugh down (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Tuesday, 17 January 2012 18:48 (fourteen years ago)

eric, i have no idea what that question means

The Reverend, Tuesday, 17 January 2012 18:49 (fourteen years ago)

to yr fam?

donna rouge, Tuesday, 17 January 2012 18:50 (fourteen years ago)

what's going on, Rev?

Dr Morbois de Bologne (Dr Morbius), Tuesday, 17 January 2012 18:51 (fourteen years ago)

xp no, obv. just to new ppl i meet, even ppl who have become very close friends

The Reverend, Tuesday, 17 January 2012 18:52 (fourteen years ago)

They probably still know.

dor Dumbeddownball (Eric H.), Tuesday, 17 January 2012 18:54 (fourteen years ago)

I mean, if you've told them, they do.

dor Dumbeddownball (Eric H.), Tuesday, 17 January 2012 18:54 (fourteen years ago)

yeah, maybe. i've just kind of adopted a policy of let people assume whatever they want about my sexuality, i don't have to explain shit. which seemed logical at the time, but i'm realizing i really wish i was more forthcoming.

xp, no that's the problem, i haven't been telling anybody. and i keep having ppl who otherwise know me well, assume i'm 100% straight.

The Reverend, Tuesday, 17 January 2012 18:58 (fourteen years ago)

i think you guys are misunderstanding me, the issue isn't concerning anyone i've been out to in the past, it's new people i've met in the past year or so

The Reverend, Tuesday, 17 January 2012 18:59 (fourteen years ago)

You don't have to shove your Gay Business Card into their hand in the first 5 mins, you know. I know it's hard/weird sometimes, but just be natural about it.

Dr Morbois de Bologne (Dr Morbius), Tuesday, 17 January 2012 19:01 (fourteen years ago)

There's no correct way to do it, I've found. Best to drop a remark at a bar when a bro comments on a girl ("Fuck that, man, did you see her boyfriend?") or in some other casual way.

lumber up, limbaugh down (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Tuesday, 17 January 2012 19:01 (fourteen years ago)

I guess I'd wonder how many people you have a deep need to tell? There are definitely a lot of people I meet in any given year I'm not at all interested in sharing that (dormant) aspect of my personal life.

dor Dumbeddownball (Eric H.), Tuesday, 17 January 2012 19:02 (fourteen years ago)

I know it's probably a different set of concerns if you're bi, tho.

dor Dumbeddownball (Eric H.), Tuesday, 17 January 2012 19:02 (fourteen years ago)

i was just talking about this the other night - coming out is such a tediously ENDLESS process if you're not totally flaming. plus, the kind of comment you need to drop in to point people in the right direction is often a bit too crude for some situations.

"interested in: men" on facebook has been genuinely useful in this regard.

irina-camelia begu (lex pretend), Tuesday, 17 January 2012 19:14 (fourteen years ago)

many xps - surm i've been trying to work out for quite a while whether i find ryan harrison attractive. it's quite an enjoyable process tbh. i already know that i do not find him to be a particularly likeable tennis player and his game is not compelling: i have no plans to cheer for him.

irina-camelia begu (lex pretend), Tuesday, 17 January 2012 19:16 (fourteen years ago)

I really enjoy the rare times ppl flat-out ask "Are you gay?" bcz I love coming back w/ "so far"

Dr Morbois de Bologne (Dr Morbius), Tuesday, 17 January 2012 19:18 (fourteen years ago)

i haven't been asked that in a while. either it's super obv or i just haven't really met any new ppl in awhile. probs both.

donna rouge, Tuesday, 17 January 2012 19:22 (fourteen years ago)

"interested in: men"

I've rejected that wording, myself.

dor Dumbeddownball (Eric H.), Tuesday, 17 January 2012 19:24 (fourteen years ago)

Yes. Case in point: this morning yet another coworker expressed surprise on learning the delicious news.
