For what it's worth: Part-owner of Swansea, Dutchman John van Zweden, today has said on Dutch radio that Man United, Chelsea, Spurs and Fulham all have been in touch with the club, inquiring after Michel Vorm.

I certainly wouldn't have, but hey. (Le Bateau Ivre), Monday, 16 January 2012 17:33 (fourteen years ago)

He said Jol had actually dropped by Swansea, the others phoned.

I certainly wouldn't have, but hey. (Le Bateau Ivre), Monday, 16 January 2012 17:33 (fourteen years ago)

that seems stupid at every single one of those clubs, considering they all have stable keepers. maybe not spurs, as brad is getting up in age.

not that transfers make sense.

Aesop Rizzle (a hoy hoy), Monday, 16 January 2012 17:34 (fourteen years ago)

Don't shoot the piano player, but don't three of those (except ManU) have relatively old keepers?

I certainly wouldn't have, but hey. (Le Bateau Ivre), Monday, 16 January 2012 17:35 (fourteen years ago)

and none of the unold keepers are undeserving of competition

modric conservative (darraghmac), Monday, 16 January 2012 17:37 (fourteen years ago)

Don't shoot the piano player

Fergie plays the piano, doesn't he?

united: two young keepers, neither totally convincing. chelsea: cech imo is p shite nowadays. spurs: friedel is 40. fulham: schwarzer is also old as shit, wiki says 39.

zverotic discourse (jim in glasgow), Monday, 16 January 2012 17:39 (fourteen years ago)

otm. Thought it was remarkable as this guy partly owns the club. He's on Dutch radio regularly now that Swansea are in the Prem. I heard him last night when he was in a restaurant dining with Augustien, Vorm, and English Swansea player and their wives. He certainly isn't diplomatic, he's rather tell all and not too bright from what I can tell, but amusingly honest and down to earth to listen to. Just a simple man living the dream iirc

I certainly wouldn't have, but hey. (Le Bateau Ivre), Monday, 16 January 2012 17:39 (fourteen years ago)

also vorm's form is currently the best in the league imo.

zverotic discourse (jim in glasgow), Monday, 16 January 2012 17:40 (fourteen years ago)

that otm was for deems tbh, but jim otm too

I certainly wouldn't have, but hey. (Le Bateau Ivre), Monday, 16 January 2012 17:40 (fourteen years ago)

Was thinking Stockdale, who has been v. good for over a year now.

Aesop Rizzle (a hoy hoy), Monday, 16 January 2012 17:40 (fourteen years ago)

Was thinking Stockdale, who has been v. good for over a year now.

forgot about him. don't think ive seen him play.

zverotic discourse (jim in glasgow), Monday, 16 January 2012 17:42 (fourteen years ago)

Looks pretty good

Then in walked Barbara Castle with the Lady Eleanor (Tom D.), Monday, 16 January 2012 17:42 (fourteen years ago)

But goalies can flatter to deceive

Then in walked Barbara Castle with the Lady Eleanor (Tom D.), Monday, 16 January 2012 17:42 (fourteen years ago)

The radio show is broadcast from a restaurant, or you were in a restaurant and actually recognised the part-owner of Swansea?

Ismael Klata, Monday, 16 January 2012 17:50 (fourteen years ago)

The Swansea party was in a restaurant, the Dutch radio show phoned him on his cell.

I certainly wouldn't have, but hey. (Le Bateau Ivre), Monday, 16 January 2012 17:56 (fourteen years ago)

Would happily take Vorm in the summer without thinking twoce about it. Only in the summer though, Brad doesn't deserve to be dropped.

Matt DC, Monday, 16 January 2012 18:56 (fourteen years ago)

Anyone watch Liverpool-Stoke? How was Coates? Would seem to be a good match of opponent for a 2-meter centre-back.

boxall, Monday, 16 January 2012 19:47 (fourteen years ago)

No one watched that game. It may not even have happened

Number None, Monday, 16 January 2012 19:48 (fourteen years ago)

^^ Yeah it's funny, the Guardian's chalkboards for that match are missing so I can't look at his 'aerial duels won/lost' or anything. Pretty sure a Spurs fan was being critical of the reffing upthread though.

boxall, Monday, 16 January 2012 20:17 (fourteen years ago)

Coates looked pretty Aggeresque going forward, but seems a bit clumsy in the tackle. Stoke barely got into the LFC half so hard to say if he's any good; playing next to the guttering Carra would flatter anyone at the moment.

Stevie T, Monday, 16 January 2012 20:24 (fourteen years ago)

I was watching but devoted so much of my attention to propping my chin on my folded hands and sighing that I couldn't tell you much about it. Kuyt missed a good chance, I was surprised to see Coates, that's about it.

Ismael Klata, Monday, 16 January 2012 20:29 (fourteen years ago)

I don't suppose there's any chance in help City won't win this?

Matt DC, Monday, 16 January 2012 20:50 (fourteen years ago)

maybe a chance in help but not in hell. Wigan look absolutely dire.

EZ Snappin, Monday, 16 January 2012 20:51 (fourteen years ago)

I dunno, they're intermittently spirited

they seemed to sag a bit in the middle when their fans started booing them for being 1-0 down to the team that steamrollers everybody

MPx4A, Monday, 16 January 2012 20:53 (fourteen years ago)

Wigan fans boo them?! Ffs, where do they get a sense of entitlement from?

Ismael Klata, Monday, 16 January 2012 20:56 (fourteen years ago)

I think that was what was happening, then Victor Moses did some industrious running and they camped on the edge of City's area almost creating chances for a couple of minutes and they seemed to be grudgingly satisfied at half time as a result

I dunno, I guess being 1-0 down and bottom and freezing and living in Wigan, y'know, something's gotta give

MPx4A, Monday, 16 January 2012 20:58 (fourteen years ago)

I can understand you lot pining for something more, but even this shambles is probably close to the all-time best Wigan XI that they're watching.

Ismael Klata, Monday, 16 January 2012 21:03 (fourteen years ago)

Steve Bruce is out of work though right, maybe they're pining for a return to a more simple existence

MPx4A, Monday, 16 January 2012 21:05 (fourteen years ago)

'You were flyin' out there buddy.'
'Yes. A little too close to the sun.'

MPx4A, Monday, 16 January 2012 21:06 (fourteen years ago)

oh come on, the years when bramble/palacios/valencia/heskey were rocking it was their best.

Aesop Rizzle (a hoy hoy), Monday, 16 January 2012 21:07 (fourteen years ago)

That was when the resentment at their existence was at its peak, now they've been critically rehabilitated but are dropping like a stone

MPx4A, Monday, 16 January 2012 21:08 (fourteen years ago)

aguero's balance ffs

modric conservative (darraghmac), Monday, 16 January 2012 21:13 (fourteen years ago)

Comparing Wigan eras, I like it.

Ismael Klata, Monday, 16 January 2012 21:14 (fourteen years ago)

lol dzeko. moment of the season for me

Jimmy Riddle Orchestra (Armand Schaubroeck Ratfucker), Monday, 16 January 2012 21:15 (fourteen years ago)

aguero wasn't ever goin to shoot there tbf

modric conservative (darraghmac), Monday, 16 January 2012 21:17 (fourteen years ago)

Why isn't Balotelli on the bench? Why always him?

I certainly wouldn't have, but hey. (Le Bateau Ivre), Monday, 16 January 2012 21:30 (fourteen years ago)

injured

modric conservative (darraghmac), Monday, 16 January 2012 21:31 (fourteen years ago)

Just noticed they have a 17yo defender on the bench, City, surely they'll pick someone up in the next two weeks.

boxall, Monday, 16 January 2012 21:32 (fourteen years ago)

Should I be watching this? I've been catching up on holiday motds instead - Lordy at the goals (all three) from Newcastle v Man Utd.

Ismael Klata, Monday, 16 January 2012 21:41 (fourteen years ago)

ref wtf reddest card pls

modric conservative (darraghmac), Monday, 16 January 2012 21:47 (fourteen years ago)

mancini take your imaginary red card and shove it up your arse. You keep doing this. You should be setting a good example to your players.

Jimmy Riddle Orchestra (Armand Schaubroeck Ratfucker), Monday, 16 January 2012 21:48 (fourteen years ago)

Um, sounds like Mancini should've been getting the imaginary red out tbh. City could use getting in the ref's face more imo.

Ismael Klata, Monday, 16 January 2012 21:49 (fourteen years ago)

nonsense! Red cards exist for offences, if your team should be benefitting from one then calling it is no worse an offense than protesting an offside, penalty, any other call.

And kompany, there's been ten tackles worse since and no reds, so fuckin right mancini is calling for some reds

modric conservative (darraghmac), Monday, 16 January 2012 21:51 (fourteen years ago)

I find it distracting when players do it on the pitch, could care less what those on the sidelines get up to.

Moratti claims Inter have offered 25m EU for Tevez!

boxall, Monday, 16 January 2012 22:37 (fourteen years ago)

don't think players shd actively seek to influence referees. don't think every referee in the Premier league shd be a useless cunt. bit of an impasse.

little blue souvenir (Noodle Vague), Monday, 16 January 2012 22:50 (fourteen years ago)

ya

modric conservative (darraghmac), Monday, 16 January 2012 22:52 (fourteen years ago)

so i've converted to fifa12 xbox and i gotta admit it does most things a lot better than the last few PES efforts.

For some reason, my spurs team only gets to use 9 players

?

modric conservative (darraghmac), Monday, 16 January 2012 22:55 (fourteen years ago)

don't control the goalie, actively reflecting what vdv brings to the team

Aesop Rizzle (a hoy hoy), Monday, 16 January 2012 23:01 (fourteen years ago)

no i mean only nine players start each game

wtg microsoft
