― rayuela, Friday, 13 January 2012 18:01 (fourteen years ago)
they're updating them though -- i remember a while back community wasn't available on devices either, but now it is
― rayuela, Friday, 13 January 2012 18:02 (fourteen years ago)
i thought the best joke in the last episode was the A. Ryan 4✧✧✧@prod✧✧✧.n✧✧ one.
― 404 (Lamp), Friday, 13 January 2012 18:17 (fourteen years ago)
lol yeah largely because of damon wayans jr <3 <3 <3
― horseshoe, Friday, 13 January 2012 18:23 (fourteen years ago)
haha ilx autofilter!!
watching the lastest episode did make me realize that this show is like the epitome of everything that whiney and other sitcom classicists hate abt the modern sitcom tho like how many jokes are people making ::groans:: puns and saying things in a oddball wayyyyy out of left field with add style patter
― 404 (Lamp), Friday, 13 January 2012 18:28 (fourteen years ago)
lol @ "Room & Hoard"
― Johnny Fever, Thursday, 19 January 2012 02:35 (fourteen years ago)

― Johnny Fever, Thursday, 19 January 2012 02:38 (fourteen years ago)
Tonight was great, loved Jane's 90s outfit.
― jon /via/ chi 2.0, Thursday, 19 January 2012 04:54 (fourteen years ago)
Also nice Reckless Records t-shirt in the Blackass scene.
― jon /via/ chi 2.0, Thursday, 19 January 2012 04:59 (fourteen years ago)

― roborally.rar (Lamp), Thursday, 19 January 2012 05:38 (fourteen years ago)
Yeah, it was cool to see Kyle from Party Down on tv again.
― Johnny Fever, Thursday, 19 January 2012 05:48 (fourteen years ago)
oh shit that's where i knew him from!
― Mordy, Thursday, 19 January 2012 13:43 (fourteen years ago)
Eliza Coupe and co are making a web series about a picture of Michael Fassbender.

I'll be glad when new eps come back...two weeks of repeats is two weeks too many.
― Johnny Fever, Thursday, 2 February 2012 18:29 (fourteen years ago)
xp lol @ "you're not even gonna talk when I blow you?"
― Johnny Fever, Thursday, 2 February 2012 18:32 (fourteen years ago)
Each one is funnier than the last.
― Johnny Fever, Thursday, 2 February 2012 18:42 (fourteen years ago)
Yeah the slang and facial expressions are so far removed from anything actual real live people do that it makes Friends seem like a documentary by comparison,
I'd been trying to put my finger on what seemed most 'off' about this show. I think this is it.
― EveningStar (Sund4r), Thursday, 2 February 2012 19:24 (fourteen years ago)
I love that they are playing old episodes I missed the first time around, Max's coming out episode was super hilarious
I want to talk about Penny's date but it so spoils it for anyone who hasn't seen it, but oh my god the writers were on a tear in this episode
― I spend a lot of time thinking about apricots (DJP), Friday, 3 February 2012 14:31 (fourteen years ago)
also it will never happen but a cross-show Happy Endings/New Girl meeting between Penny and Schmidt would be amahze
― I spend a lot of time thinking about apricots (DJP), Friday, 3 February 2012 14:33 (fourteen years ago)
I think this is why I have been able to get into it? There's something very cold and detached about it. xxp
― Nicole, Friday, 3 February 2012 14:33 (fourteen years ago)
Man, I don't think "cold" applies to this show at all.
― Gonjasufjanstephen O'Malley (jon /via/ chi 2.0), Friday, 3 February 2012 14:35 (fourteen years ago)
there is a definite element of surreality in the show that can generate detachment (I felt that in the first episode of it I watched, where they were going to a wedding of I think one of Penny's exes) but, as I believe I said upthread, the friend dynamics and back-and-forth in this show is scarily like the interactions between at least one circle of my friends, plus the actor chemistry really does fill in a lot of blanks for me
but then again, weird slightly surreal shows have always been my bag when it comes to modern comedy (RIP Better Off Ted)

lol'ing heartily at damon wayans jr tnite
― Mordy, Thursday, 9 February 2012 02:46 (fourteen years ago)
He was killing it
― I spend a lot of time thinking about apricots (DJP), Thursday, 9 February 2012 03:26 (fourteen years ago)
I'm starting to think he's funnier than his dad. Apples & oranges, sure, but Damon Jr. seems more adept at physical stuff and rapid-fire timing. And the fondue bit was genius.
― Let A Man Come In And Do The Cop Porn (Tarfumes The Escape Goat), Thursday, 9 February 2012 03:27 (fourteen years ago)
i never found his dad funny. i remember an ep of My Wife and Kids where Damon Wayans spends the whole episode explaining to Junior how wack weed is in the uncoolest, condescending ways possible. jennifer freeman was cute tho so
― Mordy, Thursday, 9 February 2012 03:29 (fourteen years ago)
I actually never saw MW&K, but remember Damon Sr.'s standup being pretty funny. He was also one of the (very, very few) high points of the 1985-86 season of SNL.
― Let A Man Come In And Do The Cop Porn (Tarfumes The Escape Goat), Thursday, 9 February 2012 03:31 (fourteen years ago)
The "asthma" bit in the limo was lols for me for some reason.
― Johnny Fever, Thursday, 9 February 2012 17:42 (fourteen years ago)
if your only exposure to Damon Wayons Sr is "My Wife and Kids", you haven't really seen Damon Wayans Sr IMO
― I spend a lot of time thinking about apricots (DJP), Thursday, 9 February 2012 17:44 (fourteen years ago)
that's like saying "I've never found Tracy Morgan funny; I saw one episode of 'The Tracy Morgan Show' and it was just the worst"
― I spend a lot of time thinking about apricots (DJP), Thursday, 9 February 2012 17:45 (fourteen years ago)
haha
Damon Sr's golden hour was In Living Color.
― Johnny Fever, Thursday, 9 February 2012 17:47 (fourteen years ago)
Srsly.
― A funnier, sunnier (Nicole), Thursday, 9 February 2012 17:59 (fourteen years ago)
ashamed to admit i've never seen an episode of In Living Color
― Mordy, Thursday, 9 February 2012 18:29 (fourteen years ago)
:O
― Johnny Fever, Thursday, 9 February 2012 18:31 (fourteen years ago)
that show was so huge it spawned careers for BOTH Shawn and Marlon Wayans, and Shawn was just the DJ and Marlon only did season 4
― I spend a lot of time thinking about apricots (DJP), Thursday, 9 February 2012 18:34 (fourteen years ago)
i have seen numerous episodes of the Wayans Bros.
― Mordy, Thursday, 9 February 2012 18:36 (fourteen years ago)
laughed so much at damon wayans, jr + the chocolate fondue
― horseshoe, Thursday, 9 February 2012 18:36 (fourteen years ago)
When he was drooling in the dentist's waiting room...so great.
― Johnny Fever, Thursday, 9 February 2012 18:38 (fourteen years ago)
is it pretty uncontroversial at this point to say that damon wayans jr is the funniest wayans? (based on my limited experience, this seems to be true)
― Mordy, Thursday, 9 February 2012 18:40 (fourteen years ago)
The only real contest is with his dad imo. They were awesome together on that episode from S1.
― Johnny Fever, Thursday, 9 February 2012 18:41 (fourteen years ago)
that show was so huge it spawned careers for BOTH Shawn and Marlon Wayans
this is the most hilariously fucked up way to state the importance of In Living Color
― Alshipleyan Goalpostmover (some dude), Thursday, 9 February 2012 18:48 (fourteen years ago)
he has become my favorite part of happy endings.
licking his watch to see the time...
― rayuela, Thursday, 9 February 2012 18:58 (fourteen years ago)
What was that extreme-walking thing he did a few eps ago? KILLED.
― Let A Man Come In And Do The Cop Porn (Tarfumes The Escape Goat), Thursday, 9 February 2012 19:04 (fourteen years ago)
3some stuff was gross but everything else in the latest episode killed
― (_()_) (Lamp), Friday, 10 February 2012 04:17 (fourteen years ago)
yeah i hated the threesome stuff but what are you going to do
― horseshoe, Friday, 10 February 2012 04:18 (fourteen years ago)
although im still tickled by 'that restaurant is harder to get into than insert obvious joke here. the alt-comedy club downtown'
― (_()_) (Lamp), Friday, 10 February 2012 04:18 (fourteen years ago)
my uncle wrote for In Living Color so being a kid and meeting the guy from "Men on Film" was an early life highlight (though as an incipient homosexual I also wanted to punch him, nice as he was). Anyway Jr clearly had the best moments in this ep.
The threesome stuff was terrible except it again showed how lame Dave is, and I like that they're comfortable with making him lame (maybe also due to that guy not being funny).
also: JAMES WOLK IS SO DREAMY, very Kyle Chandler-lite. I still wish Lone Star was on tv.
― all the other twinks with their fucked up dicks (billy), Friday, 10 February 2012 05:40 (fourteen years ago)
the 3some stuff also got us more classic comedy email jokes so i guess it was worth it
also most solid zing was calling dave ross i mean no one wants to be the ross
― (_()_) (Lamp), Friday, 10 February 2012 06:13 (fourteen years ago)
Just the fact that they addressed 'Friends' at all was so great.
― Johnny Fever, Friday, 10 February 2012 06:30 (fourteen years ago)
"Time Out New York called it 'Bomb'!"
"Time Out NY called it 'long'" imo
― Steppin' RZA (sic), Thursday, 23 July 2020 05:33 (five years ago)
Time Out Chicago iirc
― Wayne Grotski (symsymsym), Thursday, 23 July 2020 05:34 (five years ago)
I thought that but second-guessed myself on correcting too much from Simon's post
― Steppin' RZA (sic), Thursday, 23 July 2020 05:47 (five years ago)
also yes, it is great, so much more a ~new episode of~ than the Parks & Rec special. (but: admire the realism of using shitty laptop audio, but the rapid-fire dialogue would have been better served by them using real mics offscreen)
― Steppin' RZA (sic), Thursday, 23 July 2020 05:52 (five years ago)
I thought I’d stopped being in love with Eliza Coupe but nope
― shout-out to his family (DJP), Thursday, 23 July 2020 12:00 (five years ago)
