I remember that vaguely. I remember liking him at first; strong, fast, agressive, could hold a long ball for the midfield. Then he looked lazy and distracted and then, lol, Man City. Aren't they paying half of his wages?

Do you know what the secret of comity is? (Michael White), Thursday, 12 January 2012 17:03 (fourteen years ago)

Spurs should pick up Van Wolfswinkel at Sporting Portugal before Man United does. Think he'd be ideal for Spurs tbh.

I certainly wouldn't have, but hey. (Le Bateau Ivre), Thursday, 12 January 2012 17:08 (fourteen years ago)

more than half depending on what you hear

til the power failure (darraghmac), Thursday, 12 January 2012 17:09 (fourteen years ago)

Your ceiling is 70K?

Do you know what the secret of comity is? (Michael White), Thursday, 12 January 2012 17:11 (fourteen years ago)

yeah i think we're paying that and he may be getting as much as 100k from city

That alone makes a deal incredibly unlikely imo, tho of course arry's applying pressure on that cap through his lobbying for modric's new contract

til the power failure (darraghmac), Thursday, 12 January 2012 17:14 (fourteen years ago)

I think we are already fiddling that cap through various bonuses and so forth anyway.

Matt DC, Thursday, 12 January 2012 17:16 (fourteen years ago)

What's the risk that he keeps Modric but pisses off others in the squad?

Do you know what the secret of comity is? (Michael White), Thursday, 12 January 2012 17:16 (fourteen years ago)

i'd say that arry is hoping that modric will open the floodgates there tbh, i'm sure the cap is a limit on him as well?

he looks kind of young and frail, is he able to hold up play?

mizzell, Thursday, 12 January 2012 17:47 (fourteen years ago)

*this is only based on pictures of him, never seen him play.

mizzell, Thursday, 12 January 2012 17:47 (fourteen years ago)

I think he is, yes. He's developed himself in a spectacular way. He's quite frail, I agree. He reminds me a lot of Huntelaar, who isn't 'big' either, but quick, clever and always at the right spot.

I certainly wouldn't have, but hey. (Le Bateau Ivre), Thursday, 12 January 2012 17:50 (fourteen years ago)

Ha! Guardian currently running with a double splash - 'Inter concede defeat over Tevez' and 'Milan deal for Tevez has collapsed'

Ismael Klata, Thursday, 12 January 2012 18:08 (fourteen years ago)

QPR it is then

pandemic, Thursday, 12 January 2012 19:57 (fourteen years ago)

why would Milan want to switch Pato for Tevez?

mizzell, Thursday, 12 January 2012 20:01 (fourteen years ago)

woop woop woop:

11.06am: Everton have completed the signing of Darron Gibson, who thus follows in the trail blazed by Phil Neville.

Ismael Klata, Friday, 13 January 2012 11:59 (fourteen years ago)

aw yeah

Number None, Friday, 13 January 2012 11:59 (fourteen years ago)

no kidding though, that's a terrible signing for them

Number None, Friday, 13 January 2012 12:00 (fourteen years ago)

Yeah, dreadful. Seeing them in the flesh recently brought home to me that while their squad is thin, Everton have good players in nearly every position. Hibbert or Coleman, both of whom are basically fine, are maybe the closest thing to weak links. Gibson isn't as good as either (though I've never seen him in the flesh and don't intend to), all he's doing is bringing their average down.

Ismael Klata, Friday, 13 January 2012 12:11 (fourteen years ago)

Dunno, Moyes generally has a pretty decent track record when it comes to wringing decent performances out of limited journeyman type players. But then again so does Ferguson and he couldn't manage it with Gibson.

Might score a few rippers though.

Matt DC, Friday, 13 January 2012 12:13 (fourteen years ago)

Loathe to be too critical of Gibson 'cos he'll no doubt join Celtic eventually :{

Moyes does seem to go for grim plodders

Then in walked Barbara Castle with the Lady Eleanor (Tom D.), Friday, 13 January 2012 12:16 (fourteen years ago)

He's usually had an Arteta or Gravesen in there to make them play though, that's what's missing this time round.

Matt DC, Friday, 13 January 2012 12:17 (fourteen years ago)

Might score a few rippers though.

His facility in this regard is highly overstated

Number None, Friday, 13 January 2012 12:18 (fourteen years ago)

He probably will, it still won't make him a good player though.

Back Shift Backline (Nasty, Brutish & Short), Friday, 13 January 2012 12:26 (fourteen years ago)

from reading around it seems the fee was around 1m? worth a punt at that price i suppose

Number None, Friday, 13 January 2012 12:30 (fourteen years ago)

except when yr team is losing 10m+ a year and has no way of making that figure drop

Aesop Rizzle (a hoy hoy), Friday, 13 January 2012 12:31 (fourteen years ago)

contract was up in summer

nakhchivan, Friday, 13 January 2012 12:35 (fourteen years ago)

Moyes has done alright with P Nev, Howard and Saha - who knows? Gibson was never, never, never going to make it at United though and should have been sold long ago.

Back Shift Backline (Nasty, Brutish & Short), Friday, 13 January 2012 12:38 (fourteen years ago)

howard is a fine player, saha excellent and neville has immunity against bookings....not sure if darron dis ting can compete

nakhchivan, Friday, 13 January 2012 12:42 (fourteen years ago)

sylvain dis ting was a much better signing

Then in walked Barbara Castle with the Lady Eleanor (Tom D.), Friday, 13 January 2012 12:44 (fourteen years ago)

til the power failure (darraghmac), Friday, 13 January 2012 12:45 (fourteen years ago)

Yeah, wondered about that one

Then in walked Barbara Castle with the Lady Eleanor (Tom D.), Friday, 13 January 2012 12:46 (fourteen years ago)

According to Fergie, they've have rejected an offer from Newcastle for Ravel Morrison but he's refusing to sign a new contract at Utd. The ungrateful little shit

Number None, Friday, 13 January 2012 12:53 (fourteen years ago)

xps I like Coleman a lot, but he seemed slow to me

Ismael Klata, Friday, 13 January 2012 13:13 (fourteen years ago)

Alan Shearer (ken c), Friday, 13 January 2012 13:24 (fourteen years ago)

til the power failure (darraghmac), Friday, 13 January 2012 13:24 (fourteen years ago)

Kenny Dalglish has made his opening move for Wilfried Zaha after making a personal call to Crystal Palace manager Dougie Freedman.

Liverpool are in the running to sign the £10million-rated forward having kept tabs on the England Under-19 international for 18 months.

And Sportsmail can reveal that Dalglish has contacted Freedman with regards to the Anfield club’s interest in Zaha.

During the phone call, Dalglish asked the Eagles manager more about the 19-year-old’s character than his footballing ability.

nakhchivan, Friday, 13 January 2012 13:33 (fourteen years ago)

'racist?'

'not that we've noticed'

19 year old winger/forward prodigy signing for a liverpool just sounds like a terrible idea

nakhchivan, Friday, 13 January 2012 13:44 (fourteen years ago)

three league goals in 65 appearances

Ismael Klata, Friday, 13 January 2012 13:49 (fourteen years ago)

They've already got Stewart Downing there to produce those sorts of stats
